I really want Carson Wells to do a cover of "Ready for a Fall" by Hot Chip. I've got it in my head but my lack of musical ability is proving detrimental in my efforts to put this across.

An impressive analysis! I have never been good with following the stats in football. I think you are right though. Rangers can't be caught now but I can't imagine Celtic doing brilliantly, comparitively, after losing so many important players. The whole chemistry in the team will be kaput, but they are still Celtic and this is still the SPL. I think Mowbary will actually earn his stripes if he can keep winning enough games after the idiocy he is showing in the transfer window. It takes a great manager to win games without a defensive line...

Does anyone think the old firm duopoly could be broken this year in light of Celtic letting all the players leave? Rangers are really shit as well.

The hippie, students that are always cycling around the university area at night, on the roads, with no lights or brightly coloured clothes on. Whenever I spot one I know, I tell them when I next see them and the always reply with something along the lines of "chill out, it's no big deal...". Yes it is. I don't hate them them, I nothing them. I quite liked the song they played on Jonathan Ross but then I heard their album a few days later and I nothinged it. I don't think it really got my attention. It was on but I didn't hear it. I nothinged it.

Yeah, the dance music for "smart" people thing is so true. It's also a load o' shite. Music - for the most part - doesn't/shouldn't get involved with one's perceptions of another person's intelligence. You either like music or you don't. Some of the smartest people I know have an i-pod containing one Beyonce song, three Lady Gaga songs and Coldplays most recent album (if you know what i mean...). Incidentally, I think I might like Owl City. Especially if they are anything like Postal Service which I have heard them being described as.

I can understand Justice being considered as legitimate music but 2manydjs suck baws. I have not heard a great deal of Justice though. Neither are as bad as Daft Punk in my opinion but maybe I hate them more as they are forced upon me everywhere I go: "Oh, you're in to music. Do you like Daft Punk?" (what have they got to do with music I ask myself?)

Daft Punk. Maybe not a band, I'm not sure of their live set up, but i really cannot stand Daft Punk. Most people I know love them but I just don't get it or something. I heard some live stuff from my flatmate, in an attempt to try and change my mind as it's "amazin'", but that made me hate them even more. They start with one song then go into another song then mix both the songs together. That is what they seem to do, just that. I hate the way they have a stupid, synthetically alterred voice that sings some nonsensicle garbage in exactly they same melody as they keys and guitar; which are often just one note. That song Robot Rock is really shit and every other song I can't remember the name of is equally shit. I hate Daft Punk.

2002-2006: Schmuk : A band formed with me three best friends at school, easily the most fun I've had playing in a band! We basically formed this band before any of us could play our instruments properly and with a lot of time and dedication we became quite good players! Scott, the singer, now plays bass for Roddy Hart and Pearl & the Puppets in Glasgow; Ross, the guitarist, now plays in Abbamania (yeah, he sold out!) and Jamie still plays bass in Aberdeen with The Errol Street Invitational. We were influenced by everything from The Red Hot Chili Peppers to Iron Maiden with a side order of Deftones and Rage Against the Machine (obviously!). This came across in the "genre skipping" style we adopted (look us up on myspace, some of our GREAT songs are on it). As well as writing our own songs we played at parties where we would cover everything from the Arctic Monkeys to Engine #9 by Deftones; all for the ladies of course. We were pretty cool dudes and were good, brilliant considering our age. 2003-2005: The Evil Death Angels of Death : my other highschool project: very punk in our outlook with many more gigs than practices! We were a parody (unintentionally) punk band with a song called "Cunt". We smoked a lot of weed instead of practicing. 2004-2006: Soul Academy : the soul band at my school. We were by far the coolest of the band geeks! We played weddings and other events, our material including Mustang Sally, Hard to Handle and Try a Little Tenderness. Was a lot of fun and all the singers were ridiculously fit. 2006-2009: Static in the City : indie-anthems are us! After moving to Aberdeen I eventually found a few guys to play with. I genuinely thought we were bloody good at what we do but were possibly underappreciated. Our success peaked when we played The Liquid Rooms for a t-break heat and narrowly (according to our feedback) missed out on a spot. Our demise came about following a lack of enthusiasm and practice time leading to a massive dip in our live quality. Had plenty of solid reviews for "An Unssen Truth EP" and would have been loved by the NME. I still have copies of this CD if anyone is interested (hear it on myspace first). I hope Andrew keeps writing and finds a new band as he's a top song writer. 2007-2009: The Errol Street Invitational : heavy-rock influenced by the likes of Tool, Oceansize and Primus! Was a good laugh and played with my best bro Jamie again (of Schmuk fame). Other committments on my part led to me not having enough time to fully committ myself to an ambitious band. With a new drummer and guitarist possibly in the mix, this is a band to watch out for around Aberdeen. Very good grooves; very good chaps. 2008-present: Carson Wells : Ross and Huw seemed like nice chaps so went for a jam with them. Gelled very well from the off and are still enjoying our music. Kinda mathy, techy punk with glimpses of more traditional post-hardcore bands like Fugazi and At the Drive In. Have a CD coming it out next month so keep your eyes peeled. We are ambitious and champions of the "D.I.Y" scene so hopefully we will get a tour on the go in the not so distant future; see what becomes of us. 2009-present: The Scandal Extracts : 3/4 of Static in the City. Formed initially as a vehicle to get SitC's lead guitarist, my brother David's, songs out there. We integrated them into our set but the differences in style meant it didn't work one bit. We are a rock band, through and through, influenced by (but not always sounding like) Pearl Jam, Pavement, Mogwai and Idlewild. We are hoping to get a demo sorted in the near future and get some tracks on myspace in the next month. Anyone got any gigs for us? Righto, that was a great way to spend 20 minutes. Had myself a nice we tour of my past. I'm almost positive I have missed a band out though.

Brilliant business idea to fund my university career: put touring bands up for cheaper than hotel but nicer than hostel conditions. I have a living room, which belongs to my landlord, who just happens to be my house mate... I have never been on tour but the thought of sleeping on floors every night sounds awful. I am probably the worst wannabe rockstar EVER though. Surely hostels are of a high enough quality to stay in when touring and if these standards don't suffice I would expect a band to have ascertained a relative amount of success to be so picky. Prima-donnas I tell ye, teh lot of them.

I would like to see the incidents he is complaining about again as I didn't get a great look at them in the pub last night. It did seem to me there was some force in what he was saying and in the context of his rant - just having lost a big game after putting in a top performance - I can kind of see where he is coming from. I think he is a manager that has lost a lot of respect in the business since his Bolton days and he gets criticised for his moaning more nowadays. Still, he obviously cannot blame the ref entirely as Villa were brilliant and Samba should have done a better at NOT GETTING SENT OFF IN A SEMI-FINAL: the reasons why they lost they game. Managers blame officials all too often, usually when they have just lost a big game and they are pissed off. Sir Alex does this as much as anyone and often gets away with it. Allardyce was certainly in the wrong but I do feel for him and the rest of the team and can understand why he was pissed off.

Brilliant game last night between Villa and Blackburn. It may be a cliche but that's what football is all about, and the pitch invasion at the end was really cool. I couldn't possibly call my self a Blackburn supporter as I have never been to Ewood or supported them in any way other than watching them on tele, but I do like to get behind them and watch all of their televised games. They were very unlucky last night and put in a spirited performance. Yes, Samba had to go for that challenge (which looked like a brilliant tackle at first!) but there were some pretty poor decisions from the referee that cost us goals otherwise. Villa for the cup though. I think the team could be bona fide title contenders in the next few seasons, especially under O'Neil. I've got some man love for Milner also, some player. Good to see Stephen Warnock playing in the first team, he was always a great player for Blackburn. If these too play for England I may hate them less!

I thought it was a highly enjoyable game. Found myself supporting Man United and I have absolutely no idea why. I think it may be because I hate Craig Bellamy and think he should go and grow a neck, regardless of the fact that he is a top player. Can't believe Rooney didn't score as he was looking very good out there, especially in the last 10 minutes or so (Owen... surely not). I thought Fletcher had a good game but Carrick left a bit to be desired. Blackburn Rovers 2-0 Aston Villa! Should be a... err... classic....
