  1. hey im not tryin to be an asshole here, but the skull you have in your cerebral inferno logo is in fact someone elses art, i got a t-shirt in the states with that picture.... you should either get permission to use it or change it...
  2. regarding the metal muff, anybody know where i can get one? sounds damn good.. .
  3. machinehead were hardly a commercial band when burn my eyes came out. by the burning red however they were glamming up their image and dumbing down their music = selling out. notice how they went from a band of long haired thrash style metal fuckers to nu-rap-metal wanabees with short hair and kappa tracksuits..... they didnt sell out to fit in with the whole nu-metal thing at all ......
  4. the perfect example of a band selling out would be machinehead. Burn My Eyes- classic metal album, The More Things Change - simpler but still good drumming, still keeping the rawness The Burning Red - the beginning of the sellout, more emphasis on melodics, less technical heaviness, simpler drums SuperCharger - absolute sellout shit that alienated me completely from them, havent even got imperium or the new one cuz SuperCharger was so bad, and shows robb flynn for the arrogant twat he is. i mean that song american high or whatever the fuck it was called about being cool in class at school and having a 2 note riff?( goin for the teenage crowd at all? i noticed a massive difference between the quality of show when i saw them playin on The Burning Red tour and then the Supercharger tour, Supercharger show sucked and they even played the aforementioned american high, with the unforgiveable tarzan shout at the start i mean, cmon. fair enough they wanted more money, but at the expense of their original fans? i hear theyve been winning people back with their newer releases but somehow i dont think its the same fans who worshipped burn my eyes....
  5. I like lots of music other than death, death metal is probably my favourite genre, but basically any music which is intelligent enough that it takes a few listens to understand/decipher whats really going is good in my book. It helps if its madly psychedelic or brutal! Death lyrics are probably the weakest part of the genre, seeing as i doubt even the bands who write the lyrics actually take them seriously, their more in the music to fit in with the theme, which is also the reason for the growling vocals etc It would sound pretty dumb with people singing brutal lyrics like choir singers. Also if people could actually hear what most of these bands sing about, there would be a lot more media frenzy about the negative impact of the music on poor young impressionable minds. Death just appeals to me so much because of the massive amount of variation and subtle nuances in the genre as a whole, even though they generally rely on the exact same tools, i.e distorted guitar, distorted vocals, blast beat drumming, there still manages to be thousands of bands each bringing their own death 'sound' to the table. I know you can never make people understand WHY you like something, its subjective. Ive never really been into buying magazines since the net pretty much removes the need for them, i can find out about bands i might like, go and listen to them and decide for myself rather than reading some journalists opinion of a band, and buying it off the back of a review and being dissappointed.
  6. another positive halo 3 comment yeah i got this the other day, and having played it for a few hours i would say its a damn good game, the graphics could be better, but im only playin it on a standard widescreen not HD so they probably are better than what im seein n e way. Not hugely different from Halo 2 but different enough to be worthwhile, the new items/weapons are cool and the only thing that seems a bit shit about it is the AI pathfinding in the vehicles, the marines drive like their on acid or sumthin...... Very cool game though. Havent played it multiplayer yet, seems like the multi will b near enough exactly the same as Halo 2 with better graphics. The campaign plays extremely well in coop as well as singleplayer, lots of action.
  7. OK....I never found any of my favourite bands from magazines, because the magazines like metal hammer etc are actually journalistic wank ,i remember cannibal corpse gettin a 2 star review.... yeah i dont think death is the only genre to be fighting on defiantly regardless of overall commercial success, just think its a good example of a whole world of music with offshoot genres that is barely recognized in media 'that people actually see/read/hear i.e TV , radio , yes there are a few magazines but seeing as their shite i dont think they should count. yeah and the comment on the cryptopsy/fetus shirt being thought of as cool and maiden not , thats because maiden is the epitomy of cheesy metal and cryptopsy/fetus definately are not!!
  8. coming from someone who likes machinehead, i completely understand...
  9. death metal is what? I dont really care if people know what emo is or not, but on a related subject it pisses me off no end that death metal is so entirely misunderstood and people always seem to think that slipknot etc ARE death metal when thats so far from the truth its not even funny. Death metal is basically a different format of music which has countless variations/subgenres and i wish people who liked metal could get their poor little ears passed the screaming /growling to hear the fucking immense music being made by some of the most underappreciated bands worldwide. Its basically impossible to discover good death bands without resorting to the internet/word of mouth cuz the music scene in britain barely even recognises it as a viable musical genre. Does nobody else think its time for a revolution? Dying Fetus on TOTP n e 1? Cannibal Corpse at T in the Park? Severe Torture at the AECC? ?( also what someone said earlier about how they like the underground emo bands who just keep goin regardless of whether their a 'commercial' success, death metal bands pretty much encapsulate the 'making music for musics sake ' philosophy seeing as theres only an underground following of the music no matter where you go and theres never gonna be big money in it, which in turn means that people who like it dont just LIKE it cuz its cool and their friends like it,they LOVE it because it represents something pure in a corrupt industry of mass commercialized bullshit.
  10. bioshock is awesome...full stop. if you completed it too quickly u should try it on a harder setting or spend more time exploring each area before you move on. halo 3 soon the review is funny , and it makes some good points, doesnt stop bioshock from being a worthwhile game to play though.
  11. this seems well good cant remember the last time i went to a club and it played music i liked.i want to hear extreme death at clubs, doesnt matter if its even just heavy metal, as long as its good and adheres to the old-school metal approach i.e isnt fad based shite(kerrang i hate you with a passion). It sucks that with the amount of metal bands in aberdeen that theres barely anywhere u can go and not get bored to tears of hearing maybe one song u like out of the whole 'metal/rock/alternative' night. ill try and make it along on thursday and show some support!
  12. 2 YEARS AGO??? IT CANT BE!!, you talkin about the gig at the liquid room yeah? if it was....damn,... i must be smokin too much
  13. actually scratch that last post, just checked their official site and theres no UK tourdates at all!!

  15. Cranial? hey we @ Cranial could be interested in adding a keyboard player, would have to have a jam or sumthin first to see whether it would work. if you have a listen to some of our stuff @ MySpace.com - Cranial - Aberdeen, UK - Death Metal / Progressive - www.myspace.com/cranialdeath and see whether you have any ideas of where keyboard would fit and then let us know if your interested. cheers
  16. hey just gave the tracks a listen, their quite cool apart from its hard to hear the rythm guitar/bass, just cuz its a live record i spose, am interested in hearing some proper recorded shit from you guys now tho.
  17. cheers for the encouragement dude! good luck to you findin a drummer also!
  18. sure have, never recieved any interest at all that way!!
  19. hey we're lookin for a bassist check us out at MySpace.com - www.myspace.com/cranialdeath, we need someone that can play fast as well as slower, more proggy and atmospheric stuff. the recordings are a yr old and were rushed so dont let the poor quality of the recordings put you off, their more of an indication of how we're going to sound than anythin else....
  20. hey dont spose you can play bass guitar? we're looking for a bassist if ur interested:up: www.myspace.com/cranialdeath
  21. Hey man , i gave the new tracks a listen , very cool its like floyd have been reborn in your music, could do with some vocals(im sure you probably know that) just to stop the tracks from bein percieved as jam tracks and not actual songs. Thats just a minor drawback tho becuase what you have there is undoubtedly the best prog rock sound in aberdeen(probably scotland as well) , very full sound (even sax! lol), honestly i think you guys have somethin special there, keep it up! and let me know when your next gig is!! i want in!
  22. BUMP! ?( we have to find someone before christmas!!! its been too bloody long ! all good bassists lookin for a band step right up!
  23. Hey we @ cranial still need a bassist if ur at all intrested. check us out @ www.myspace.com/cranialdeath for an idea of how we sound(recordings are a yr old now so dont let them put you off). we're all 22/23 and main influences are death metal, tool and pink floyd.
