  1. haha, id throw my fucking rattleSNAKE at you!! (if i had one, oh well, just gona have to try and perform well at this gig!) i wouldnt worry about it, its mainly been a 'who the hell are you to have an opinion' sort of an argument.
  2. id say your wrong about that, no one knows whos the host, which is why this happens. Someone leaves who is the host, but they dont know their the host and that by leaving theyll end the game, it is annoying but it IS because the host left( the problem could be avoided by actually letting players know if their the host)
  3. the kingdom, fairly standard action film, quite relevant in todays terrorism mad climate though. Id read reviews that slated it, but i found it enjoyable with some pretty witty dialogue in places
  4. In my opinion, this is an example of societies and people in generals inability to accept change in the culture around them. It causes people to doubt/despise either themselves or those around them and leads to mindless acts of violence such as this, which is a vain attempt to try and enforce the 'correctness' of their own persona and reassure themselves of the validity of their self percieved stereotype's existence. Soon it wont be 'emos' gettin beaten on it will be some other 'subculture', because really whats different between this and long haired skinny grungers gettin beaten up in the early nineties by 'manly' jocks who didnt like their hairstyles/trashy clothes/attitude? In some retarded way its how humanity progresses. In a circle. So that we end up where we began.
  5. I disagree completely,i go to see bands because i like their album output, i want to hear the album loud and faithfully recreated by the people who made it, and ive seen plenty of bands that sound so similiar to their recordings its unbelievable and a good thing. To me its the true measure of a band to be able to do justice to their stuff live(especially when its ambitious), seeing how tools like this 'melodyne' make good sounding recordings easier for everyone to make. I could name countless bands who sound near enough album-perfect at gigs, and if i went to a gig and the band sounded only remotely like their cd(lets say i like it), with missing layers, out of tune singing, bad guitar playing etc id say they had good ideas but were shit. Im not saying recordings are less important, just that you couldnt be a professional band without being able to perform your songs live to a professional level. Yes i do see that there is leeway with live music to throw in variations on whatever,or slight improvisations but only when it doesnt sacrifice anything from the quality of the music. thats my opinion as well, but im just talking from the p.o.v of the industry, where a bands album is their 'product' so obviously they want it to be as high quality as possible from a 'business' sense. I love live albums that are recorded well enough to hear, but usually the tracks from live albums originate from a studio album, so their recreating the 'proper' album version anyway. For Cranial all our recordings have been live recordings , its pointless doing it any other way till we get a bassist. Even then we might stick to live because itll give a more accurate representation of what we'd sound like at a gig.
  6. I dont know if anyone has mentioned this, but the way this software can manipulate notes on a recording seems to me to be akin to the way a band with 1 guitarist can record several guitars into a recording with the aim to improve the overall sound of the recording. As much as i want a band to sound exactly the same live as they do on their album, the bands album is their evidence of having a good musical 'product', and their means of being heard by/attracting people who dont go/havent been to any of their shows. But if the band make an album that sounds amazing, and their completely balls live, cant play their stuff or sound completely different(i.e less layers etc), people are gonna notice their actually shit and the band wont get anywhere because with the present level of piracy, live shows and merchandise are where the moneys at. I know this only relates to traditional band style setups i.e vocals/guitar/bass/drums and not electronica sort of stuff, but thats always been artificial in that the music isnt being physically played as much as its just been arranged. So i dont think it will make shit bands seem better, it'l just make their recording better, which doesnt count for much if every live show they do disappoints their 'fans'. Also would this software work as well with heavily distorted guitar/bass ? i cant help but doubt it.
  7. thanks for the great discussion guys , dont know what id do without you trying to put me in my place. all im doing is seeing what other opinions are goin on otherwise i WOULDNT of posted in the first place. not trying to force my opinion on anybody.
  8. Engaging in this fallacy is sometimes known as playing the Nazi card.[1][2] The fallacy most often assumes the form of "Hitler (or the Nazis) supported X, therefore X must be evil/undesirable/bad"[2] thats not what i said i was merely pointing out that the majority isnt necessarily right. and 'If you conformed earlier, why did you rub salt into your own wounds by posting up dictionary definitions further proving your previous point invalid? ' if they proved my previous points invalid id like to know how? because i said intensity earlier on and was laughed at. That proves that i was perfectly right in saying that extreme music should be intense. I also showed that i am aware of other extreme styles by putting the list of common styles in. i wont be posting again.from now.
  9. i had already conformed about 3 posts ago! but no peeps have to keep trying to knock shit into my opinion, and im not gona sit back and let them(whoever they are) think that theyve 'shown me' when really all theyve shown me is how bitter and hateful this area is(i already knew that anyway). Cant even start any kinda discussion here without gettin your opinion discounted, disregarded and then being referred to as an idiot.(unless of course youve got an army of friends to back up your posts) Really does the majority make you right? like in Nazi Germany they were obviously right about the jews cuz they were majority? 'I think you'll just have to accept that what Fudge mean by Extreme is how quickly a bands sound/skiing skills will have a great granny shuffling for the exit, not what genre they conform to.' most modern music would do that these days, we must be surrounded by 'extreme' music.....seriously though i cant believe no-one can see what i was tryin to say, your all to busy trying to take what ive said and make it into something else 'It does show his niavity though, do you really think "Metal" is the only genre with acts of an Extreme nature? oh dear, oh dear.' when did i say that? i said for guitar orientated extreme bands yes, metal is the general influence, and can you deny that? are there more extreme bands that are doing metal or more that arent? IMO internationally theres more metal orientated extreme but who could ever really know without doin a bloody survey or sumthin. but dont worry i know my OPINION is wasted here as usual, i wont be posting again.
  10. from wikipedia 'Extreme music is categorised as music that contains one or more elements that are abhorrent to the average listener (in some cases leading to debates as to whether certain artists' work can even be described as music). These may include: unusual tempos (very fast or very slow), unusual quantities of guitar distortion or white noise, excessive volume, highly obscene or violent lyrics (often in combination with an unusual vocal style, such as screams, barks, growls or heavy glitch distortion), dissonant or atonal scales and unusual, often jazz-based time signatures, very rapid and jarring changes of tempo or even genre, highly unusual song structures and lengths etc., ' 'Common' extreme music styles avant garde,Black metal,Breakcore,Death Metal,Doom Metal,Extreme Metal,Gabber, Grindcore, industrial Music,Lowercase,Mathcore,Noisegrind,Noise music, Power noise,Power violence,Speedcore, Thrash Metal, Hardcore Punk.
  11. ok wtf, id already agreed that it was a difference of opinion. so all you fucks wantin to have a go at us for whatever reason you can eat my shit. No we dont have a spiky logo, i was talking about guitar orientated extreme bands, which tend to be metal influenced. look in the dictionary at extreme extreme [ik strm] adj 1. great or intense: highest in intensity or degree will withstand extreme pressure 2. not reasonable: going far beyond what is reasonable, moderate, or normal an extreme reaction the extreme right wing of the party 3. farthest out: farthest out, especially from the center the extreme north of the country 4. severe: very strict or severe extreme and costly security measures 5. leisure sports sensation-seeking: describes sports or leisure activities in which participants actively seek out dangerous or even life-threatening experiences extreme skiing highest in intensity, hmm didnt i say something like that earlier, but no the dictionary is wrong and your well thought out ideas and insults are right....... i respect other bands doing well in aberdeen and i know PVH have worked hard and good on them, but they arent what could be referred to as 'extreme' hence my point which is why bother with an extreme category at all. Why not just have an alt rock category or sumthin. yeah that was a funny post, wel funny eh, what was your point exactly? that im thick as mince oh right yeah, wana compare IQ's? obviously opinions have alot to do with intelligence in this case............ thatl be why your all pissed off with me
  12. As you all probably know by now, we're still looking for a bassist to complete our ambitious musical project - Cranial. Preferably over 20 (we're all 23) with good technical ability, a love for Death Metal as well as an appreciation for Progressive influences would be ideal . We practice twice a week at Captain Toms. We have rough demos of our songs (minus bass) at MySpace.com - Cranial - Aberdeen, UK - Death Metal / Progressive - www.myspace.com/cranialdeath PM me if your interested, cheers Lewis/Cranial
  13. Ok we'll just call it a difference of opinions and leave it at that then. Fair call. I realise by saying what i said i basically started a pointless argument. Very true, and i/Cranial respect what you guys and other bands have been doing. I know that there is a small crust/grind scene in aberdeen because of you guys making one, and like i said we respect that. I/Cranial would like to get of our arses and do more gigs but not having a bassist has made us hold off doing them. Seeing how we the ones we have done havent gone well because of onstage sound problems/general sound issues(mainly due to lack of low end/poor guitar sound), and because we thought we would get a bassist before gigging. Having made five songs of our own now (6 including the one we're working on) we are getting fed up with not gigging because we dont have one. Seems like it'd be a waste of what we've worked on for the past few years, and we're also hoping it'll increase the chances of a bassist hearing us and wanting to join.
  14. IMO which is all i canr eally say, so if you disagree great its nothing new to me. I consider a band that plays fast AND complicated to be more extreme than a band that just plays fast, but i guess thats cause im into lots of brutal death.not crust or grind or whatever. I must have some kind of a point or you folks wouldnt be gettin so pissed off by my OPINION. well we've actually been around for a few years now, but seeing how we cant find anyone who can actually play bass as well as they think they can, we havent made our prescence felt. What exactly you think i can do for the scene in aberdeen i dont know, seeing how fuck all of it is actual death . lots of crust/noise terror whatever you want to call it but very little straight up brutal tech death metal. So if anyone actually was playing the sort of shit id go out and buy id support it. And as far as im aware theres like 3 or 4 grind/extreme/death bands in aberdeen, hardly much of a 'scene' i suppose you can pretend though. Depends on your opinion of what 'extreme' music is, like i said my idea of extreme music involves extreme playing i.e deeds of flesh, inveracity, lust of decay, cryptopsy, and feature lots of tech elements. I dont mean it ALL has to be fast and complicated just that the music will(at some point) contain fast and complicated parts. Obviously by guitar orientated extreme bands i mean guitars, drums, bass, vocals. and why people get so pissed off with my opinion i dont know, theres absolutely no reason to call me an asshole, if you think im wrong great, but dont pretend you know what im like at all just from the opinions i present.
  15. No i was meaning either/or with the ridiculously fast/complicated/mind bending part. So it could just be fast/noisy, but that generally entails complicated if you dont want it to sound boring. You obviously dont know/appreciate many extreme bands. cryptopsy anyone? their not complicated are they (haha) and their basically the epitomy of 'extreme drumming' which is the foundation of pretty much all guitar orientated extreme bands. Its like a new 'extreme' sport hence why its called 'extreme' music. unless your wanting to say anything even remotely heavy/shouty/harsh sounding is extreme, but that kinda destroys the achievements of real 'extreme' bands who have actually advanced metal/music,seeing how anybody can pick up a guitar, play loud and crap, shout down a mike and therefore be 'extreme'. Just my opinion of course. You could argue about how genres are defined till the end of time, people make up their own mind. 'but having lots of problems finding a bass player' Your damn right about that. Try years of not finding anyone who is suitable/can keep up/ comes along to practice, maybe one day...........
  16. ah another extreme(ly not extreme) fudge award. ace. wish proper extreme bands came this far north, then we'd see less of an its-loud-and-noisy-so-its-extreme attitude. extreme music is supposed to be about extreme PLAYING, i.e ridiculously fast/complicated/mind bending drums/guitars, not extreme haircuts/vocal effects/two note riffs.
  17. why do they need machines that detect 'minute' amounts of illegal substances? doesnt it get a bit pointless busting folk for 0.02 g of this or 0.005 g of that? its mental dubai having such a backward attitude about weed (i.e extremely stringent) when as a population centre its developed so rapidly theyve completely fucked their environment, to a point thats basically criminal in todays better-informed times. man made islands n e 1? but theres a coral reef??pfft thats only been there for thousands of years, lets get ourselves a MAN MADE ISLAND yeah! wooo
  18. i completely agree, why is it that the cinema/s think they can FORCE people to pay ridiculous prices to eat on their premises? like they think their justified in basically tripling the price of food/drinks? i dont know why this issue hasnt been raised before and sorted, its just plain GREEDY
  19. needs a new title (helpful comment that isnt it.......)
