  1. yep, last night, had good coverage but had to phone out about 5 times to get connected.... 02 is usually pretty decent, but fairly fucked up last night...
  2. yep definitely a gogo dancer joint... (so a friend said) seriously though, that place was seedy as they came. the toilets stunk of "spendings" i went there a couple of times while i was at rgit, end of exams class night out type thing...
  3. grace jones: slave to the rhythm (first track on the album - i think it is called jones the rhythm) propaganda: dr mabuse so you do about 6.4 km in 30 mins then? i do about 6.25km in 30 mins... i'll have to change my tunes....
  4. eh, it's written in the add, we play a sort of rock/prog rock indie. if you are a blues singer your voice would probably fit the bill. by hairy arsed we mean a touch of gravel wouldnt go amiss, plus the ability to project. our numbers are not metal by any means but fairly edged rock. the lyrics in our numbers seem (not by design) to revolve around organised crime, corruption, hookers, drugs, murder, etc.... all the cheerie stuff... now someone with an angelic voice isnt going to score well with such lyrics, hence the hairy arsed proviso. pm me if interested
  5. Craig has had to review his priorities and can no longer commit to regular rehearsals. We wish him all the very best. We, Mohare, have reviewed our line up and seemed to be sounding reasonably good as a three piece, however, preferably, we would like a dedicated vocalist who can play at least some electric guitar. Said singer can be of any age or sex but must have a fairly hairy arsed voice. (actual folic arse inspections will not be necessary) If you are interested let me know i can send some near completed recordings of our most recent stuff. We have studio time booked this month and will post some additional numbers plus the completed stuff from two months back on our myspace site in due course. We pretty much play rock/ prog rock/ indie. We rehearse once a week. If you are interested in the vacancy, drop me a pm.
  6. in reading i saw an ad in a kebab shop window offering burgers at 60p.... mmmmmmmmmmmmm
  7. its all flooding back to me... there was a guy who owned a marlin fat strat copy with a full floating trem. he couldnt string bend worth a shit so he loosened off the springs to make the trem sit forward. then to do a bend up, say a tone, he simply pulled back on the trem! marvelous! not satisfied with that he loosened the springs further so he could do 2 & 1/2 tone bends and proceeded to break strings with monotonous regularity. he seemed pretty pleased with himself.
  8. oh yeah i remember marlin, the logo was a sort of swordfish thing... really shit guitars, but way better than the amps whose tone was hideous. a mate of mine had both back in the 80's. thing was they had a very strong advertising campaign and they were pretty cheap.
  9. bias current way too high... different amps have different methods of adjusting bias, some have none at all, ie use these specific valves or nothing... nice side of too hot is a quite warm and non brittle sound, down side, and it sounds like your amp is biased way too high, is that you can bugger your output transformer (expensive) and shorten the life of the output valves (a lot). i wouldnt turn your amp on again until you get it seen to. does your amp come with a schematic diagram? any word in the manual regarding bias? what valves were in (ie stock) and what did you replace them with? (full part number of both) what is the model number of the amp?
  10. depends on the courier, some believe that parts of aberdeen are "highlands and islands" not bad for the oil capital of europe. the worst offenders, i have found, are arsehole force/ royal mail special delivery, they would seem to be simply scam artists. firstly if they have no intention of delivering on time they will claim that they tried to deliver said item but nobody was home. a crock of shit seeing we have a 24hour manned reception. second part of the scam is ask you to wait till after 12 noon as it could be delivered anytime up until then, after 12 noon the depot shuts and there is no-one to speak to, brilliant! third part of the scam, my personal favourite, the web tracking is on a three day delay, allegedly, fantastic if you are after a next day delivery. and best of all try phoning to complain about it. the reaction gives you a sense that everything you have been through is a very common occurrence....
  11. the porof is in the trying. i think there is one in r&b. i would suggest using it in stereo because it sounds superb. better still try it with the nova delay in stereo and you'll be hard pushed to find better. back to the nova reverb on its todd though, it is way more versatile than the other verbs i have tried. the t-rex valved unit is nice, but no way as versatile. as for the digital business, the nova cab very sterile ot very warm without to much effort.
  12. nova reverb by tc-electronic is simply the best reverb around imho. i think it is a little over the hundred bux mark, but it is head and shoulders better than any other verb i hvae tried or own.
  13. that would have to be motorhead at the capitol circa 1979.... probably the best motorhead line up as well, lemmy, fast eddy clarke (who still has an influence on some of my breaks today) and phil taylor...
  14. win battle of the bands, and buy iceland!
  15. each one just waiting to turn.... sending imperceptible rat messages to one another using twitches of their whiskers, and then, at the appropriate moment...bite one knacker each when you look most relaxed!
  16. frosty, rats are incontinent....did you fit yours with a small septic tank or something?? and +1 for a cat....
  17. oh lordy! i like the way the "good looking" one is in the middle (like it would distract you from the other 2 weirdos)
  18. you're on the wrong bus dude... the chic shitting in a pot tattoo is totally going to catch on.. i'll bet most forumites have one before the year is out...
  19. save a few bob, taylor big baby, costs less than 500 bux (350ish), american made, plays well, good sound, good value for money... spend the 150 bux you saved on a fishman piezo pickup and your still up 30 -50 quid...
  20. not to mention the fact that some members have been abroad, some are abroad and one is going abroad pretty soon, so things have pretty much quietened since we got the forum opened. we do have some studio time in the pipeline and anticipate the forum becoming more active in due course. aberdeen-music.com has been a very useful asset to us since we started out, and we intend using all facets of it available to us to the advantage of the band. tbh without aberdeen-music.com the band, like so many probably wouldn't exist. make-them-earn-it, we are sorry we have caused you any distress in having an empty forum, and as indicated above, hope to rectify the situation soon and enhance your surfing pleasure. we also thank you for your interest in Mohare (MySpace.com - Mohare - - Rock / Progressive / Indie - www.myspace.com/moharerock)
  21. nope, i had no idea that was the case, she spoke a little english in her interview, but i am presuming this will be an austrian talk show. what do you know about it? is it a trisha/ jermy kyle type thing where she is going to give a different austrian dad a hard time for locking friends/ family/ relatives/ strnagers in the basement? or is it a woganesque light hearted look at life?
  22. funny, Natascha Kampusch on news night last night, when asked, flippin eck! wots the deal with you austrians?? did actually make reference to the war in here answer (no shit). for the record she seemed quite well balanced in the interview. Not so for two of the offspring of the trapped daughter, apparently they are suffering from chronic vitamin D deficiency and comunicate with one another via a series of grunts...
