  1. your* cooking it wrong mate... the amount of non vegetarians i have fooled with quorn pieces is remarkable** * = aberdeen music "you're" ** = slight exageration
  2. the blue moon (holburn street) does a whole heap of quality curry dishes using quorn, excellent stuff, i highly recommend. not such a big selection, but excellent vegetarian food, try royal thai on crown street...
  3. impressive spec, does yours have the trem setter spring mechanism?
  4. a quick review today confirms that i got a very similar message from seetickets for the last gig tickets we bought off them, and in fact we got the tickets months in advance...
  5. they pretty much stuffed everything into that video, vocoders, band uniform, band hairdo, banging synth, that funny unison guitar flip at 1min, the crab stance...etc., it's missing something though.... glove puppets!
  6. i'm guessing the ht fuse is the one that is blowing (usually it's a small value - a few hundred mA, but could be bigger on a bass amp) if so, replace power valves (nay cheap - but could be worse)
  7. the allegations of being poofy are not totally without merit. i have used seetickets countless times, if my feeble fading memory serves me, we actually received the tickets 2-4 weeks in advance.... so dry out your hanky, reapply the mascara and enjoy the gig
  8. not bad, just about to take in the rays, to good to miss.... hows yourself fella? pm sent...
  9. fully second that having owned a minimat. for every 1 minimat that is sold there are probably 1000 TT's sold... the MM has the superior tone by far imo...
  10. second hand decent valve amp, dsl-401, dsl-50, both not bad, probably pretty good for metal. if i were in you i'd get a second hand fender hot rod deluxe and use distortion pedals for a metal sound. the beauty there is the clean tone is excellent which is a pretty good canvas to start from....
  11. the artisan series is actually a little pricey, the 15 watt combo is now about 800bux+. since the good reveiws and the shit pound the price went up. i totally agree on the effects loop issue, but then you have to offset that against the very desireable tone. i traded mine in for the artisan. the ht-5 is a stonking little amp, no doubt. where is the valve king made?
  12. for the record, i believe i am correct in saying that all us, non custom shop fender guitar necks are made in mexico. in saying that, i have had half a dozen or so assorted fender strats/teles through the years, mostly US (including a deluxe) and my two favourites are both strats; one an eric johnson signature strat and the other a standard mexican..... i did sell the deluxe, it had a maple neck, it was a sort of red orange sunburst which i traded in for the eric johnson. i do somewhat regret letting the deluxe go....
  13. i recently picked up a blackstar artisan15, which i play through a hotplate power break effort. my mesa, gathers dust now.... good value for money cracking tone and not made in china. don't want to blindly knock chinese amp production but there are a shit load of cheap valve amps being produced in china which suffer from terrible quality control problems... (before anyone asks, the artisan series are manufactured in korea - next door to the place where they do the 1940's A-bombs) i used to own a flextone30. it made it to a couple of practices, but never to a gig. biggest problem for me was controlling the different volumes of different patches...
  14. mc beans off belmont street, you want to try some blue sumatra (aka blue canoe)
  15. according to the diagram i am looking at, you are right... i'm simply refering to the first schematic i found (on the basis that everything on the internet is true!)
  16. yep, there are a couple of electrolytics, in particular the 100uF over the supply, depending on the manufacturer/ construction could draw a heap of current if a reverse polarity volatage was put accross it... just a guess but original spies mentioned it never sounded the same since. if it is a lot noisier and has poor bottom end gain that cap could be knackered... i take it all back... there is a 1n4001 reverse voltage protection diode with a 47 ohm limiter resistor accross the power supply.... max current draw for reversed volatge would be about 200mA. if the power supply unit is rated o 200mA reverse voltage would proably do fuck all.... unless it was reverse and over voltage anyway, this is all friday night, fuck all to do/ no friends, pointless pontification.... original spies, you need a 9v supply (preferably regulated), capable of providing around 100mA (to be safe - although most decent supplies will provide a heap more than that) with a 3.5 mm jack on the end. just make sure you get the polarity right...
  17. i really doubt it. most f the current will be quiescent. the output impedance is limited to about 1k, hence 1mA for every volt it drives in output signal. let me get this straight, the guy used a supply (possibly regulated) with a bunch of different plugs on the end, and i'm guessing a polarity selector of some description. a rat is pretty much an opamp amplifier circuit (if my memory serves me) over volt it and it would draw more current than it would normally (on a linear basis), but would probably be ok, reverse polarity could damage something to go low impedance or simply draw a shit load of current for a fairly sustainable time (eg some electrolytic caps) thus drawing a shit load current and burning out the transformer windings in the power supply resulting in the "melting". ah hell, i'll go take a look at the rat circuit, btw, original spies, which model rat was/ is it?
  18. doubt it. a 9volt battery is good for about 300 mA/hours (or there abouts) hence a rat would only last for about an hour and half.... it lasts way more than that.
  19. i don't think this has anything to do with "amp"ratings... a rat proabaly consumes around 10 - 20 odd milliamps at 9 volts. more likely somebody got the polarity wrong (at a guess) - that wouldn't do it any favours....
  20. have we been watching the same sport? they missed out on the drivers championship by a point last year, have won the drivers 7 times out of the last eleven years, what exactly would constitue the "something worthy" refered to? as a card/ piece of scaffolding/ carrying member of the tifosi i would have to agree... from an objective point of view they have the longest history in the sport, including legends like villeneuve, ascari, lauda, prost etc etc... at the wheel equally, it would look pretty poor if they were to quit while languishing at the bottom of the championship as the are now.
  21. well it's turning out to a be a real ding dong of a battle between two titans in their fields, one team has the upper hand then the momentum shifts seamlessly to the other, this is going to be "nip and tuck" all the way, i can see this one going to the wire!! who could possibly predict who will come out on top by the end of the season... i am, of course talking about the battle for last place in the championship, currently being slugged out between ferrari and force india...
  22. this is very sad news. up to 21 people will not becoming home to their loved ones. my thoughts are with those families.
  23. Mohare have just posted a bunch of new stuff on their myspace site, five numbers in all. they can be found at: Mohare on MySpace Music - Free Streaming MP3s, Pictures & Music Downloads any feedback, criticism, slagging, bitching, backbiting, constructive analyses, compliments most welcome. Neil, best increase the sites bandwidth for all the feedback we are going to get. in fact, stuff it! get on to at&t and get them to launch another satellite to handle all the traffic this thread is going to need....
  24. i'd sooner see rubens beat button, not because i have anything against button, just that the english press will go into their usual jingoism mode and after a while button will be taken in by it, then things will start not working out and the same press that adored him will spit him out and wipe him off the bottom of their shoes like so much dog shit (damon hill being a grand example). rubens however fucked up big time and was very lucky to get second. not to say that rubens might not beat him in any of the next three or so races where brawn will do rather well - until the whole defuser advantage is wiped out one way or another. button was the better driver and deserved to win.
  25. yep i did. the following are the my most important observations in order of increasing importance 1. great job by the brawn team, incredible "p45 to pole position" story 2. how the hell did stuart hall of "it's a knockout" fame get a job as an f1 presenter? 3. already sensing a little friction between coulthard and jordan as commentators 4. them cars is butt ugly - the huge front wing and tiny rear 5. great to have f1 without james allan
