surely that's only effective if the e-mail was sent from a yahoo account? 1. no shortage of them in the world... 2. stupid...or desperate... some of the people who have fallen for this are from the second world themselves....

it's known as the 419 scam... after the reference penal code in nigeria... yep it is predominantly a nigerian scam.... they used to fax their crap before the advent of the internet.... problem is it is so easy to send out millions of these e-mails at very little costs hence the steadily increasing numbers.... and believe it or not people still fall for it... apparently part of the scam can be that the scamee will visit the scamsters(under some official guise), the fraudsters will bribe an immigration official to get the scamee into the country... soon the whole payment starts going tits up and the scam changes as the scamee is an illegal immigrant in nigeria and black mail commences...allegedly, a few people have disappeared.... i hear, however, that one guy threatened to put a voodoo curse on one of the scamsters and after a few e-mails complaining that voodoo curses were a very serious matter (?!) the e-mail soon dried up.... so the story goes.. i've got a link to somewhere...

you are right' date=' given the nature of the music industry today there are no shortage of over rated bands in the limelight and competent, unique and novel musos either dissuaded from the entering the industry in the first place or scraping a living in the sidelines.... however zepp?? can't possibly agree with that, technically all very competent musos, artistically pioneering. the simple truth is that several genres were borne out of zep, forget about any individual influences they may have had on other artists.... i think i'm correct in saying one of the most sampled bands to date also.... invariably what is deemed to be an overrated band to one will be ground breaking to another...but to try and avoid the merely subjective...why not justify your inclusion of zepp with some substantial argument....in short, why do u think zepp are overrated? the beatles? agreed, overrated, don't get me wrong a good band, good songs, but the problem here is that so many people in the 50 to 60 age group (mostly cliff fans btw) seriously believe these guys are responsible for all contemporary music there after, from jimi to bucks fizz... the same people who over rate the beatles, imo, have no knowledge of the blues and r&b (real r&b btw) routes from which jimi, zepp and a pile of others emanate from... oasis simply made a living out of plagiarism, so no arguments there..... tbh looking at the point of the originating thread....and the industry today....i'd pose the question...name a mainstream outfit that isn't overrated....

at a guess, i suppose somebody figured that musos are too fuckwitted not to have ground loops at different potentials.... so optoisolating everything negates problems associated with differing grounds ie noise biases etc...if you think about it any ac/dc device may have a floating ground/ grounded 0volts or some arbitrary ground....strap 'em all together via the serial data bus and a whole heap of nonsense can occur.... also bear in mind that midi has been around since the early 70's so i guess it made a lot f sense to optocouple... i've got a book somewhere about all this shit...if i dig it out i'll see if there is any explaination justifying this feature..

yep there's a pile of people make them.... one i use is made by edirol (UM-1)'bout 50 quid but works fine enough and easy enough to install...

so did christianity.... it seems remarkable to a lot of people that there are a significant number of catholic arabs for instance... it is interesting that a lot of people consider christianity as a western religion and islam an arab religion....

when i was your age (sorry to sound condescending) ok...when i was younger...in my teens i always got depressed before christmas, irrespective of where i was or how may mates/ bars/ cinemas/ potato powered clock conventions/ etc. there were around...now i'm old and decrepit...i really couldn't give a shit....and don't get depressed about it any more... my point? its another day make the most of it... we will only have a limited number of them.... before you know it you are old and farty.... merry christmas?!

carrying about your passport while on the piss sounds a bit daft, don't get me wrong i can sympathise to some degree, but if your passport lands in the wrong hands it can be a real pain in the ass....not to mention id theft potential etc etc...
