  1. The only valve amps I've seen in MV (unless its changed recently) are JCM900s. These are not old enough to be 'vintage', they are in abundance on ebay all the time, they are largely regarded as the dogs of the JCM series and they are some of the cheapest 2nd hand valve amps you can get your hands on. Oh come to think of it I do remember seeing a black amplifier with a white trim in place of one of the 900s last time we were there. Cant remember the name it was something like harley benton (it wasn't HB it was just something like that). Iirc we weren't impressed with it.
  2. Unt hallo everybody, I'm amazing, check me aaauut... I am your new god, little boys...I'm amazing - check this shit!

What programs have you been using??? perhaps you entered the parameters incorrectly?
  4. I always wanted to go to the gym, but I could never justify the expense when doing situps in my living room is free Out of curiosity, dont you enjoy playing music? I mean, you say "I spend what I need to", like your buying something to do just get a job done. I dunno, maybe music is your job, and you set out an annual budget for your gear only spending what you need to in order to maximise profits. But what you're buying here, in 1000 worth of guitar, isn't a tool - its a hobby. Its what we do for pleasure. Given how little time we actually have here, making yourself happy is justification enough, and the budget for this necessity of life is whatevers left over after you've paid the mortgage, insurance etc. 1000 to never want to upgrade again is actually cheaper in the long run. Good justification Better justification than paying 500 for something I'm not entirely happy with - lifes too short
  5. Shure SM7B Microphone: "Extremely popular radio and TV mic that features excellent shielding against electromagnetic hum. Includes a mounting bracket for precise control of mic position. Cardioid, Dynamic." It appears that he was right Not sure if St Anger is the best promotion for it though

They dont *have* to be of a specific internal volume. If you mess around with some speaker designer software for a driver which works best in a closed box, you can see the trend the frequency response takes as you make the cabinet larger or smaller. If in doubt, all you need to do is calculate the internal volume of a production cab based on the speakers you intend to use. Simple And all without the horrid splay of gunk coming from the back of the cab
  7. Mine on the auld days before soap fan everyone would have tae shit in the widdies an nae wash their hands???
  8. For example; a microphone with a lot of presence going through a system with a deficient high end will sound better than a duller sounding microphone, however, in a properly tuned system, the duller microphone may shine as the mic with a lot of presence appears to be very harsh/piercing. Hardly unexplainable, but usually unexpected, especially when the cheaper mic sounds better because its making up for a deficiency in the (usually cheap) sound system.
  9. Main Page - Uncyclopedia Main Page - Encyclopedia Dramatica Get a bit of parody action going!
  10. I've used both. Musical vision is cheaper, especially if you take a 3 hour session instead of a 2 hour iirc. I'm not sure what amps you get in toms these days, but last time I was there it was still the crappy laney TFs. Musical Vision has always given us at least one JCM900 (with cabs at ear level) - I think theres a roland JC120 there too. Bass amp in Musical Vision is a soundcity head with a horn load woofer and a 2x12 guitar cab Drum kits in Toms are excellent imho, always well tuned and sound ace. Drum kit in Musical Vision is in passable condition, its a pearl forum. I'm not sure if you can hire their cymbals. Vocal amplification in toms is mostly sennheiser mics iirc, some good, some entry level, most people cant tell the difference in the range so results can vary. Desks in toms range from a really old peavey to some not so old peaveys, some rooms have the nice UL/Hisys system and some have crappy sounding speakers. Vocal amplification in Musical Vision is a modern peavey powered head with hisys speakers, and an assortment of 58, 57 and akg mics. Its been a couple months since I've been to musical vision and some time since I was last at toms so all this might have changed. Toms gives you a bigger room which is nice for not having to squeeze past the kit and dodge radiators and crap on the floor all the time, and generally has less feedback potential for the vocal mics I reckon. But I reckon Musical Visions solid value for the money. I think I should also point out that for all time times we've practised there we've only ever been given the same room.
  11. I know this threads a bit old but I have to say - this is an amazing idea!!! I wanna play the moorings
  12. Ok man, interesting choices, got a few questions for ya... This is a dream setup...right? So...why is it that You have no better live mics than SM58s? You have two incompatable IEM systems running? You have no Neumanns listed? You chose the shittest bass drum mic around? Just curious.
  13. Oh SOMETHING can always go wrong I'm pretty sure that everyone knows the personal computer is one of the least reliable machines man has ever made, yet we all still get frustrated and even surprised when they crash
  14. You forget the part where you accidentally click on your gay midget porn movies and they start playing all over the fucking PA. But never mind, if it happens in the moorings it'll be the best sounding midget porn ever!
  15. No you wont. Not if your computer becomes infected with the ebola virus.
  16. Why didn't you just click the link and find out? It tells you on that page what it is and when it was made.
  17. Who said anything about presets you moothie licker???
  18. Yes it does. As long as the combos not open backed I agree, the single recto is the way to go. I know the pods crap, but the single recto model on that thing sounded SO much better than the dual recto model that either someone messed up big time, or 50w amps really do sound better than 100w amps
  19. I dunno flash, these things tend to be quite well liked in the live sound community : http://www.tech21nyc.com/bassdriver.html They're not emulators, just an attempt at the 'sound in a box' concept as opposed to the more traditional 'sound from a large rig spewing noise everywhere' concept. Seems quite elogant to me, if it sounds good. Apparently it does. Pods on the other hand suck tremendous amounts of ass.
  20. Am I the only person who thinks that an on-axis mic placement is far too harsh and chainsaw like (remember the question is being used in the context of heavy metal) to be used by itself? I like a good placement somewhere between the edge and centre of the cone, about 2" away from the grille, if your recording listen to see where gets you the best results. If you have a couple of goons, get one to play chords through the amp while the other moves the mic around in front of the cone, when you hear the tone you like best from your headphones in your isolated control booth yell stop. Add a distance mic if you so desire. As for that total bastardo Mike, kick Mike up the arse (if you're into that sorta thing)
  21. Yeesh, what kind of masking tape did you use? That stuffs supposed to be weak enough that it wont take off even the cheapest paint...goodness knows how it managed to remove a hardened laquer surface!
