  1. Pardon my ignorance but why would anyone call a ring modulator a frequency analyser?
  2. In the survey conducted by the scottish parliament 75% of people supported a total ban, but 75% of people were AGAINST a ban in pubs and clubs. If it's the same survey I saw, the question about a total ban was first, with no indication that there would be any other choice. So 75% of people thought a total ban was a good idea if the only other alternative was what we have now. Later they were asked if pubs and clubs should be exempt. 75% wanted exmption. It's quite clear what happened, any first year stats undergraduate should have enough knowledge of questionnaire construction to analyse it correctly. Why are the professionals missing it?
  3. He started off saying it would be banned, but then said that some compromise would be found.
  4. I could live with the ban if there was a choice. I understand that at the moment non-smokers have no choice but I don't really see how depriving me of choice makes it better. Since 75% of people in Scotland indicated they didn't want a ban in pubs/clubs, surely a compromise where pubs/clubs with adequate air filtering systems were allowed to let people smoke would be fairer. That way, if I wanted a pint and a fag, I wouldn't have to hide away in my own house with a can of beer and non-smokers would have a large choice of smoke free pubs to enjoy.
  5. He's forgotten that people grow up, inlcluding him. I think peoples musical tastes are formed in their teens/early twenties and are normally set for life. This guy sounds about the right age to have been mid-twenties when grunge came along, no wonder he didn't get it, or anything else since.
  6. There's nothing wrong with a little back-patting but there's nothing wrong with a bit of criticism either.
  7. A few points spring to mind: How many bands, bearing in mind that if what Mad Jack said today is true smoking will be banned in dressing rooms as well as stages, will hotfoot it to Scotland for a tour? Who's going to grass up the guy who's first to light up in the Belmont Bar? Who's going to tell the prisoners in the Bar-L that they can't smoke any more?
  8. 3 rolls insulating tape, assorted colours. 1 rubber bit off a mic stand leg. 1 pair quality earplugs. 2 drum keys. 1 sharpie. 1 biro 1 drum felt. Keys. Tobacco Lighter. Skins. Torch. Mobile. Diary. Wallet. Assorted small change. Gig lists. Assorted screws/wingnuts. and a small plastic thing which I'll discover the use for about 30 minutes after chucking it in the bin.
  9. It's alright, it hasn't even been published yet. Interesting that only 25% of people wanted a ban in pubs and clubs.
  10. Smoking ban to be put to the vote you mean.
  11. Just for info for anyone else: Truss rod: hold the string on the 1st and 12th fret, the neck should be slightly concave. If it is, keep your cash in your wallet, if it isn't, you're probably better off getting it sorted by a pro. Intonation: Play the string open and tune it. Play the 12th fret harmonic. If it's sharp, the string needs to be longer and vice versa. It's a good idea to slacken the string before adjusting it's length or you may round the head of the adjuster.
  12. It's easy enough with a little knowledge and the right tools. Get the right tools and I'll tell you how. p.s. the right tools are:good tuner plus all allen keys/screwdrivers to give access to truss rod and saddle bridges.
  13. Which would be a 5.1 decoder wouldn't it? All you seem to have is an amp and speakers.
  14. "Ours is the worst form of democracy, except for all the others." Sorry if I've misquoted Mr Churchill but you get my drift.
  15. I spotted a compilation CD the other day with a band called Sin e (with the accent on the e). Contemporary folk music I think. Just thought you guys should know.
  16. Spelling is still important because it relies on getting the right letters in the wrong order. It would be much more difficult to interpret if you had the wrong letters in the wrong order. Am I rtie?
