  1. i'm not having that. every pavement record had pretty eye-watering cover art but only maybe half really fit with the music contained therein. in my mind the sparkly stars and neon cowboy(?) here perfectly reflect the noises on the record that were caused by nigel godrich's glossy overhaul of the band's sound. i don't really have anything useful to contribute to this thread, i'm just going to argue with people about aesthetics.
  2. An awesome festive event that is happening in less than a week, I didn't see a thread about it on here so I made one. Tunnels 1's bill features - The textured one-man dream-pop of Debutant The enigmatic Safety Net The gorgeous folky harmonies of Magna Anima and "The greatest 3-piece act since Jim Morrison died in a bath": Min Diesel. In Tunnel 2, you will find Steve Winton (of Kashmir Red) Andy Davidson Kathy Shanks and The Seasons. Doors are 3. That's like 37p per band or something! "Ho ho ho!" and other such festive exclamations. Here is a Facebook Event Thingy
  3. i don't know if it really needs any more attention drawn to it but jesus christ this post is incredible
  4. sharon was telling me about this last night. young widows gig, not god. wish i'd been in glasgow for that one. i forgot one earlier: joan of arc/copy haho/the love of everything/wonderswan @ the tunnels. amazing.
  5. the link didn't work, i retracted it in shame i think this will work
  6. atp last week. just all of it. if i can't choose that then: best gig of the year for me was probably either kartta's last gig/the guitar trio performance at snafu or shield your eyes/pneu/cap sante/the police at cellar 35 2009's other musical highlights for me: bo ningen's set the other week grizzly bear @ the abc castanets @ the malt mill tut vu vu/tom the noisemonger at halloween both times chickenhawk played aberdeen this town needs guns being confused by heckles in snafu 85 bears on a spring sunday night
  7. "yessssssssssssssssssss", in various contexts, to all posts above
  8. i'm sorta relieved i didn't manage to get a ticket for the atp as i've seen most of the bands playing that i would've wanted to see, mainly at the malkmus atp 5 years ago that primavera bill sounds sorta incredible though

    Minnaars

this is ok, i'd rather listen to KYLIE MINNAARS though
  10. i just watched "paranormal activity", in my bed, in the dark that film would have benefitted from either a script or the casting of actors who can improvise convincingly
  11. "ooh-arr, ooh-arr, this gig starts in less than three hours" "you'd better get a move on if you're wanting that fiver"
  12. bo ningen were crushing, i was very impressed (i didn't manage to catch the other acts because of, y'know, stuff)
  13. doing stuff tomorrow night but would love to be able to catch a bit of this any idea of stage times?
  14. was literally about to post words to this effect
  15. the tunnels have tut vu vu playing, who sound pretty good there's a heap of other stuff on there that night too, there's a big poster outside the venue
