Alkaline
I've starting dabbling in droning, bass heavy, electronic music. I've never pieced together a "song" without an actual musical instrument before, so this is a first attempt. Just samples, VSTs, an ancient Roland drum machine and a metric buttload of distortion. My intention was to make something as disgusting as possible. Totally repetitious and practically unlistenable, but as I built it up, it started to sound more musical than I expected.https://soundcloud.com/usthemusthem/megacephala I also re-recorded an old DROSS song, just to give new fuzz pedals and feedback loopers a whirl, though I might add vocals, or at least some torturous scream samples to flesh it out, so it's not purely instrumental. https://soundcloud.com/usthemusthem/reign-in-mud I think I'll keep it for the same project. Disgusting heavy stuff. Some will be guitar based, Some of it won't. I love that 1st one!!!! It's like Nine Inch Nails if they were doomier and still as good as they were. Like the second one in a totally different way, not quite sure the two would work in the same project but good work nonetheless.

Heh, no i'm not going to start reviewing the whole nine pages of stuff, I like the Braineaters, and could hear a big round kettle drum boom every eight bars heh? Liking the second(old DROSS) track better, for over all heavy riffness dynamics grunt..

They probably wouldn't work together, you're right. I guess it's not really a project as such. I'm just recording things that are loud/noisy/heavy, and putting them all in one place. Stuff that I wont be using in a band any time soon. Edited August 26, 2013 by Joda Serk
colb
Can you recreate it live? I'd go to see someone do this kind of thing. The first tune more than the second.
Soda Jerk
Probably couldn't do it live. Wouldn't even know where to begin trying.
Jaaakkkeee
Just do what David Guetta does, press play then play with knobs pretending you're doing it live.
Lyin Ryan
^or he could recruit a couple of synthisists^ anyways, I've picked up a 3TB drive and am working on backing up all my analog cassettes to digital wav format.

mathew09
If you need software, try muse score. It's free and robust! I just transcribed a bands album using it and didn't crash once!

Flights
Currently piecing together some ideas for some new Flights material as there's word on the street of a new EP. A lot noisier than my previous efforts which is mainly due to my current love of Big muff, delay and reverb. TSTWDEN is moving along nicely now. We've got a rhythm section and it hasn't taken the guitar orchestra shape we were originally planning. Still hoping to do that in the future mind you. We're basically Young Team era Mogwai wannabes. We've already got over an hours worth of material. Mental.
ca_gere
I've started getting back into DJing (it's been about 5 years since I last touched a set of turntables). This is the first mix I did at the wknd. I posted it in the electronic thread but I don't think anyone saw it (or maybe noone cared...still... bump). In any case, would love for some folks on here to give it a listen. https://soundcloud.com/matthewrobinson/bushwick-summer I'm gonna do a strictly hip hop one next. Edit: fuck sake, how do you embed soundcloud?! Double Edit: nvm, it did it on its own Edited June 10, 2014 by ca_gere
