diarmaid
I have never understood what New Wave actually means. Also, I may have missed the start of this thread. I just saw pop thread and got carried away and gave it laldie. Were we supposed to offer a specific form of pop?In which case, a song perhaps more obviously mainstream...pop. Though, I've always considered pop to be a rather massive genre, often too sadly focussed on the charts, which are by and large full of absolute gobshite.Pop is clever, succint, melodic and catchy music. Pop can really just be a sub genre of any other genre. So, more pop, and possibly the best pop song in history.
Oedo 808
Unfortunately it's the intro of "What You Waiting For?" that's my favourite bit, and it's not in the video. You can hear it on spotify though. What an amazing timeWhat a familyHow did the years go by?Now it's only me...But the best song off the album is Cool:

Oedo 808
At first that Joey Lawrence song doesn't seem catchy, but if you hear it a few times it will drive you insane.
ca_gere
Drum tracks in pop songs were so much better back then.
KarmaTsunami
I stumbled across this through a 'recommends' column on another website. I like it, and I'm going to have it stuck in my head for a few hours. Also, WHY HAS NOBODY POSTED THIS YET? It's actually amazing. Sorry if someone has posted it. I'm pretty sure they haven't though. Guest
BOUNCE BOUNCE BOUNCE BOUNCE BOUNCE BOUNCE BOUNCE.... BOUNCE BOUNCE BOUNCE! Pretty great song, especially if you can look past the fact it's performed by A MAN THAT HAS HAD SEX WITH CHILDREN AND IF GIVEN HALF THE CHANCE, WILL DO SO AGAIN. girl anachronism
The Guardian's review of the latest The Feeling/Sophie Ellis Bextor single:The Feeling Feat Sophie Ellis Bextor Leave Me Out Of It (Universal/Island) Imagine someone sighing into a huge, unremarkable glass jar, over and over again. Not mournful, just entirely flat sighs, borne of mild boredom – Post Office queue sighs, if you will. Picture them being slowly poured through a Brita filter into another, even plainer jar on the other side, before they're sealed in to stop them escaping. Now, imagine taking that lid off and putting your ear over the hole. There, that sound you're imagining is 15 times more exciting than this song. Paranoid Android
Nicola Roberts' (ginger one of girls aloud) debut album is out this month. I love both the singles. Much better than any other GA solo efforts. So this is out now and it's very good indeed. It's easily of the standard of the better GA albums although not quite as good as their very best (Tangled Up)The only mis-step is probably the unnecessary cover of everybody's got to learn sometime. Paranoid Android
Time for a big Nadia Oh post. Star of my last 3 avatars and creator of what is probably my favourite album of this year. Certainly it's been my most listened to over the last few months. It's a rare day where I don't listen to at least one song of hers. Sadly her popularity seems limited to small groups of people on a couple of internet forums. Reactions of friends I've got to listen have from hating it to not hating it but not really liking it either. But you lot aren't real people, you are on an internet forum so there's a chance you'll like it a little. Flights at least liked the song I put on my mix. This review describes her pretty well http://omfgitsablogaboutmusic.wordpress.com/2011/09/14/colours-album-review/]In a world of materialism, Facebook whoring and facelessness Nadia is a very welcomed break from thatbasically the embodiment of it all, and she pulls it off in spades. Colours is a ten track electropop wonderland of endless clubbing, insane parties and everything else vapid and imaginatively insane – oh, there is also a moombahton track or two.Did we mention we mean this in a very positive way? A lot of people won’t ‘get’ Nadia, but that doesn’t matter. To fully appreciate her you literally have to embrace the ridiculousness of the entire situation so when she comes at you with her absolutely bonkers lyrics (“I do the soopermodel, I climb on top of shit”), epic one liners (“Nadia Oh yo, blow jo fo sho!”) and mental chants (“take your money, we gon take yo money”) you’re ready and prepared for the ensuing hilarity.........Basically it’s 30 minutes of absolutely mental, completely ridiculously and incredibly self-absorbed dancedancedance tracks complete with auto-tune mania and obnoxiousness galore. Love it or hate it, Colours truly is a brilliant album carried by a nearly as brilliant persona. Kudos to you Nadia, many, many kudosNow some tracks. The one Flights liked on my mix, also her shortest so if you hate it you wont waste to much time.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7-pz71LARm4The song that got me interested in herhttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EOLGE6yn7oYMy favourite of her short promo vidshttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gxP3y7fDAK4and finally her moombahton masterpiecehttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bFqE_9Mw_LcEnjoy.
