Guest Tam o' Shantie
anyone got a massive list of albums released this year so that I can see if I actually listened to any of them?Only things I've heard from the posts so far are It's Blitz!, Born Like This & Merriweather Post Pavillion and I'd hate that turd of a YYYs album to be on my list by default...Heres mine so far then:*edit* can't believe I forgot about cuban linx II after spending about 4 months talking about it on here before it even came out. It's a cracker, but it can't beat the 'Collective. In fact, it's only the "I guess Rae still has some of the old magic" feeling that pips DOOM to third place on my list of 3 decent albums released this year...LOL.By the way, if I thought hard about it I could probably name about 30 great albums I bought this year and heard for the first time despite them being anything up to 40 years old...I don't get too upset about shitty music coming out these days since there is a huge wealth of old albums that I didn't even know about that came out in the last 50 years, which I am more than happy to tap into. 1. Animal Collective - Merriweather Post Pavillion2. Raekwon - Only Built 4 Cuban Linx II3. DOOM - Born Like ThisI'm planning on picking up more than a few records in germany next week so this may change...first on the list is Edan's ECHO PARTY

paranoid
yeah and they include too much...there were like 500 albums under AYou are upset by the fact that a list of every album released in 2009 is too big? Surely that list, by it's very nature, has to be a bit on the large side?

Murrr
"Crack the Skye" - Mastodon"Strange Cousins From the West" - Clutch"OB4CL II" - Raekwon"s/t" - Slaughterhouse"Blackout! 2" - Method Man & Redman"Never Better" - POS"Farm" - Dinosaur Jr."Born Like This" - DOOM"El Rojo" - The Bakerton Group"Hordes of Chaos" - Kreator (I don't really listen to thrash much these days, but this was a fuckin' pearl")No order. Missed quite a few, no doubt. The Blakroc album only leaked yesterday but it sounds awesome, so that'll squeeze in somewhere, same with the new Felt album. I thought Rakim's "Seventh Seal" would be a candidate but it's totally mediocre.
Guest Tam o' Shantie
The Blakroc album only leaked yesterday but it sounds awesome, so that'll squeeze in somewhere, same with the new Felt album.I had forgotten about Blakroc. Despite being a slightly corny concept...the calibre of musicianship & collabs should keep it above water. I kinda wish they'd stop including ODB on shit like this though...my missus had this album by/called NASA with all of these rap collabs and Dirty was on that too...wtf? Guy's been dead for years and someone decides that his lines are worth using on an album like this? FOH. The worst part about it is that he was never a great rapper, was he? The key to his appeal was some comic relief in the Wu and his unique style/larger than life personality...but he wasn't changing the face of hip hop with his lyrical content IMO and I think most people would agree with me.I thought Rakim's "Seventh Seal" would be a candidate but it's totally mediocre.I gave this the obligatory preview listen and it's a steaming pile of shit...cheesy beats and awful R&B hooks...this took him like 12 years to make or something too! Maybe Rakim should have spent his spare time building a time machine to take him back to 1987 instead...then he'd be back in the position he dreams of maintaining and we wouldn't have to listen to his embarassing output in 2009. Soda Jerk
Lots of lists circulating right now are making me realise I've forgotton about alot of stuff, especially stuff that came out really early in the year. 2009 was great for new releases. I really need to narrow it down to a top 47 records or something.
