girl anachronism
I like Burn O Vat, Balmedie Beach, Tyrebagger Forest and Craigendarroch.I also really like the forests up at Cambus O May, there's a great wee suspension bridge there over the Dee and the water's really deep and clear, fond memories of taking picnics up there in summer, jumping off the bridge and swimming in the river. Pierre Von Mondragon
Aboyne (river bend of the White Coo) is where the ancestral beat is, Linn O' Dee freaked me right out as a kid. Deeside in general, don't like Formartine much except for the beaches. Banff is nice, Kinneff beach party bay, Old Slains near Colliestoun (sic?), was at a great acid party there. Mastrick. RossP
seems like i should be spending a lot of time on the moray coast.I spent 17 years there and never grew tired of it.I'd love to retire in Ullapool (lovely place), so that I can go to ICT games, visit family/friends in Elgin and enjoy regular trips further up the West Coast and Islands. Steve Temple
cool, good shouts folks. i'm trying to compile a list of places to take photo's of that kind of sum up the north east. a few on there on my list and loads that i didn't have.Dave, can you confirm you're attempting to compile a document of the geography of the north-east, rather than the region as a lived space? If it's the latter, I think it would be wrong to focus on the landscape of the region, rather than the people that inhabit the towns and villages. You would be better focusing on sites of communal behaviour, like the Turra show (as somebody mentioned), Peterhead port or Pittodrie. But if it's the former, I'll throw my favourite vistas into the hat: Queens View, looking on to Lochnagar; the view of Aberdeen from Brimmond Hill; the view of the Loch of Skene from Skene Primary School. I remember playing Hungry Hungry Hippos with my sisters.

RossP
Dave, give me a shout when you've collated a collection of Moray coast pictures... as i'd be fairly interested in buying one or two should they catch my eye
jamesbroonbreed
Not sure if anyones mentioned it but killykan (however the fuck you spell it) beach is pretty magic like. Got a pretty neat cave thing too. Someone probably has mentioned it already, it's THAT good.

There is quite a decent market for postcards and calendars.

There is quite a decent market for postcards and calendars.aye, i'm signed up with alamy but don't have much on there just now hence my urge to build up my catalogue. flickr's been a big help in seeing what people search for and click through to as their stats page is really quite powerful.also had some contact with a couple of specialist libraries as well who are a bit pickier about their photos which also contributed to taking a look at my catalogue and realising i need to put more work into it. you only get out what you put in with stock apparently!
