Anyone else think they seem to be going sky high at the moment? I just bought 2 Muse tickets online at ticketmaster, by the time I paid for the tickets, had a "convenience charge" added of 3.25 per ticket, plus a fiver for registered post (which you get no choice about) it came out at 66.45. For 2 tickets! Madness!

I was around a hundred for two Paul Simon tickets.

But yeah, the booking charges are a scam. Although as Skacel says it probably is best, as they make it really obvious that there are tickets inside. The guy at the post office even asked what I was going to see last time I picked up some tickets there.

Aye, but its cheaper buying the tickets from Secctickets.com, they don't rape you for postage and booking fee or the Music Hall for stuff up here.

Its apin in the arse, its also one reason I'm not going back to Reading, £125 for the tickets, then £6 booking fee, follwed by £5 recorded delivery. Fuck that.

It alsways amazes me that recorded delivery costs £5, when its on 60p from the post office, its just another way for them to steal money.

I hate the signed delivery charge as it ultimately ends up with me paying 5 to go and collect it from the Post Office as i'm never in when the Postie comes as i'm at work :swearing:

I'm lucky that way, I've befriended my postie. One day he delivered what was obviously a porn catalogue along with some stuff from the Catholic Church which I'd ordered for a resident at my work. He must have thought I was some sexually-repressed Catholic! Anyway, he said that I was the one who had the most interesting mail on his entire round. Got talking to him, and we have an arrangement where he leaves packages at my flat front door. If it's a big parcel, he takes it to the depot and I can call him on his mobile and personally arrange a delivery day/time to suit. Nice one! Any stuff I get addressed to the previous occupant, he bins it. If you get loads of mail-order as opposed to shop-buying, talk to your postie. Definitely worth your while.

Talents: Grind and befriending postal service workers.

Alternatively just get everything delivered to your mum's house and let your family pick up your stuff from the depot or arrange redelivery when they're in ;)

Sorry mum...

It helps when he stays in the same block of flats as your best friend and his girlfriend remembers you from the Palace. Aberdeen, the world's biggest village? Yes!

The extra charges are the bit that gets silly, one up and the box office don't ask for ridiculous charges do they and one up at least wouldn't be selling tickets if it didn't make money...

shipping charges I can't really say anything, £5 sound excessive for a wee envelope, but I don't know how much it costs to send stuff recorded, though I have had much bigger packages sent for less than that...

As for the post office, how come we get left packages for our neighbours, yet every time I have been waiting for something and been out, they just take it back to the depot? whats even better is the opening hours there, something like 8:30 - 12, so if you work or have uni, how do you make it across apart from saturday (which loses the oppertunity for the weekend lie in)? I guess there must be a fair few like me, so opening a wee office all day should be doable surely? (you can get it sent to a local post occice for a small fee which does work out I guesws, but adds on another couple of days to the delivery time)

luckily my mum has been able to go over to the depot for me so far :)

Simple solution...don't buy the tickets. The bands will either stop playing live (showing their true colours, ie only in it for the fucking bucks) or stop with the wanky stage shows and charge realistic ticket prices and stop treating everyone like fucking mugs. You need to vote with your feet...needs more than 1 or 2 like minded people though....

I think there should be rules in place to govern the price of postage and booking fee's!

If I personally go into the Music Hall, buy the ticket then at which stage does the booking fee occur? Does this mean I have to pay for the privilege of actually buying the ticket, because that's what it seems like to me.

I think I should start my own ticket agency, 3-4 profit on every ticket I sell if I add in a random booking fee. What next??
