Rickicaz1279
ok i know this doesnt really apply to me as i am 18 but...for some reason cafe drummonds has now decided that a " new law " has been passed that means no one under the age of 18 can go there to have a drink ( non alcholic obviously ), or play pool, or whatever, unless there is a gig on! now...me and a small group of my friends hang out at drummonds almost every day, we do buy our drinks usually irn bru, or coke or something like that, and tip endless amounts of 50ps in the pool table. i can find nothing on the internet about this supposed " new law "are drummonds s******* us to stop us going there every day? or what....its very confusing, as i said it doesnt affect me but still...would very much like to know
Scootray
It's a licensed premises. They have every right to keep your younger friends out.
Sam_b
Yeah. Theyve always been good and lenient in the past but management always have the right to refuse entry.

Alkaline
Probably due to some young spotty oiks causing trouble with their underage shennanigans. For the best i'm sure, don't you kids have Youth Clubs etc that you can go to???
Rickicaz1279
im no kid, and i usually just go in there for the pool games and scampi fries lol. its just theyve all of a sudden decided not to let them in anymore...it doesnt affect me, but i dont see why theyve done it i mean no one really causes trouble there as far as i know

threeornothing
A new law that under 18's aren't allowed in bars?Instead of Irn Bru you should have been buying pints and nips....thats earned me a place in most pubs since I was about 13..some older mates doesn't hurt too. Sam 45
Don't blame Drummonds atall. Why should the staff have to put up with kids sitting around and ordering tap water all day when they work in a bar (ie) a place for adults. framheim
i can't believe the attitudes of people in this thread. you'd think you'd never been underage or something.if people under 18 are doing no harm and just going in during the day then what's the problem letting them in? obviously it's drummonds perogative but just blaming it on them not drinking beer is a bit silly. particularly as there's probably more profit in soft drinks than in alcoholic ones. Jim Stax
No blaming here surely? Drummonds has decided it doesn't want that clientele. End of!

Kilau is just across the road if they want somewhere to go and natter and drink soft drinks and the ambassador is less than 10mins walk if they're desperate to play pool.I don't think its anything to do with not drinking beer, I'm guessing there's been complaints from adults who don't fancy kids running around during the day calling each other n00bs and what have you and irritating them whilst they are having their paying to have their lunch or a quiet drink with their friends/collegues. Its not a social club its a licensensed premises.
pogofish
i can't believe the attitudes of people in this thread. you'd think you'd never been underage or something.Oh yes! Pubs/other licenced places are on a bit of a knife-edge as far as unescorted underagers are concerned & the new licencing laws redefined the responsabilities of licencees & made them liable if anyone over 18 other than a parent bought or or even allowed an underager to consume alcohol. I can cee their concerns, especially if a large mixed-age group gathers. All it could need is one person to take the piss & they could be in pretty deep shit. I think I read something about spot-checks on pub underagers being stepped-up recently? Also, admission of people between 14 or 18 has always been entirely at the licencee's discretion so maybe it will change a bit once whatever concerns have passed. chaos
i agree with camie here. it's just like 25 underagers sitting around, one or 2 buying soft drinks. they are just going somewhere to hang about and its probably best that they go somewhere else to do it. i have a lot of mates underage, and i dont see them being too worried about it:up:
trippinoneastereggs
fucking hell, one twenty for a coke? Thats rediculous. If I was forced to pay that for a soft drink I wouldnt want to drink there.Soft drinks are too expensive in pubs. I've had this discussion before after refusing a bunch of underagers when I was working in The Tunnels, i think something needs to be done to give kids somewhere to go for a game of pool or whatever. Are there actually any youth clubs or anything about? I havent heard of any, then again I am 23.I agree with the point that its up to the pub to decide who gets in, but it is a bit shit that there is no alternative around.
