Your fave tuning?

Currently tuned to G# (G#C#F#BD#G#) on my 6 string. Holds well, plays magnificently, sounds "da' bomb". Couple with an overdrive pedal, a Big Muff, and three stages of equalizing (line in, pre-amp, and effects loop) and the walls seep gloom juice.

7 strings tuned the same way, only with an additional D# (D#G#C#F#BD#G#). Can't see them being tuned differently for a good while.

I think B is as low as possible that actually sounds good, any lower and it loses clarity and doesn't get any heavier. G is as low as sounds good (to my ears) if you're playing meshuggah style polymetric stabbed riffs.

I personally use "drop-C", as it is most commonly (and incorrectly known) i.e. C G C F A D.

Effectively drop-D but all strings tuned down a whole step.

Drop-D tuning is really handy for certain suspended chords, and playing in C is heavy enough, yet clear enough so that it has the best of both worlds.

yeah i tune my six string to standard C, a few years ago i learned that the heaviness has very little to do with the tuning(unless your doing slow heavy), most brutal bands dont seem to tune very low, eg- severe torture - C#

deeds of flesh - D

for faster more complex brutality higher tunings are easier to hear, just got my 7 string though, am tuning that to B flat standard and yeah it sounds heavier for slower/chuggier shit and you dont lose the ability to have higher sounding riffs on the smaller strings, 7 strings fucking rule!
