Keep your travelers cheques in a bum bag.

But if you are going to the states' date=' a word of warning: they call them fannypacks there, because fanny means your arse, not your minge.[/quote']

no don't buy a bumbag as it identifies you as a traveller immediately

split up your money, buy a body wallet or something for your passports and any credit cards, keep some spare money in your bag or in your shoe or something to give you more chance if you're held up, so you have some money for a bus or somewhere to stay or something to eat

Also in America do not ask for a 'fag'.

Go to thailand and Australia for proper travelling. I've done the latter and was amazing...not regretted in the slightest despite what people may say. Sitting on a beach in a holiday resort is not travelling...

Next year I am hoping to interrail aroud Europe and then hit Peru with a good hiking friend of mine. Test it out for me.

Read some Kerouac, Hunter S. Thompson and Alex Garland for inspiration.

Oh yeah and lonely planet. And watch that tv show.

Have fun.

How long you going away for? Just for a few weeks or is it for some months? If it's just for a few weeks round Europe then Inter-Rail is definitely the way to go, (just make sure you know what trains you're not allowed on). If you're going for a long adventure make sure you have a set daily budget and try to stick to it.

Where you planning to go? Europe? The States?

If you're going around Europe you should Interrail it! Totally wanted to do that last summer but it fell through.

Very jealous.

Das what I did. Do it this year, it's awesome!

If you do it and stay in hostels, try to find the best hostels rather than the cheapest ones (usually they are all cheapish anyway) - it's worth it because the places we did that in were the ones we had the best time in.

Theme parks - WalibiWorld and Efteling in the Netherlands are cool (WalibiWorld has better coasters, Efteling has more majik), but very busy during the holiday season and both involve very hot crowded transfer buses..

Don't step on the seats on Dutch trains.

You can probably get away with not paying for the public transport and then pleading ignorance if you get caught, but don't do it in the Czech Rep, because the police probably won't bother with trying to speak English, and they will escort you to an ATM to pay your fine.

But if you do go to Europe, the one thing you HAVE to do is go to Munich, and if you do go to Munich, you HAVE to stay in the Euro Youth Hotel on Senefelderstrasse. And then go to the Hofbrauhaus, the market thing not far from Marienplatz (Viktuelinmarkt or something) and Temple Bar in Ostmunchen.

And most importantly: roll up your socks and underwear and put them inside your shoes, and squeeze all the air out of your hair product containers to save space....

i KNEW i saw you

I saw you too, but alas I was with the parents, and they are still are of the age when their son speaking to a girl = over-questioning. And fuck, it was like 9am on a Sunday morning - I'm liable to get nasty when pushed over the edge at that time.

Still, hope you had a good trip, and salutations from sunny Sevilla...
