Lyrics are Marillions strong point' date=' especially with Fish[/quote']

Dude the whole package is Marillions strong point, excellant music, passionate thoughtful lyrics what more could you ask for?

"Waiting to Happen" off the Holidays in Eden album has fantastic lyrics but "No One Can" off the same album, would have the one's that mean the most to me.

"The Space" off the Seasons End album has great lyrics too.

God as much as Fish era Marillion will forever be my favourite Steve Hogarth with help from John Helmer has certainly given the post Fish era a certain style and class that is just breathless

Provocation undeclared, like cowards they advance, attacking the unarmed

Campaign of dishonor, calculated violence inflicted on civilians

Narrow-minded wrath, self-righteous anger, acting out intolerance

Damning themselves, accursed adversaries of God-given liberty

Terror, innocent life destroyed by

Cowards, committing crimes, injustice

Empty, nothing to hope for but death

Brainwashed, programmed from birth, to hate

Idiot protests, from luxury of safety, ignorant of facts

Preaching dull inaction, as burning towers fall, shattering the peace

Stab us in the back, awaken our revenge, our appetite to kill

United in grief, we accept your invitation to erase you all

They want to kill the free, the liberated "infidels"

They claim no fear of death, they'll see it soon enough

Suitable response, build a proper case, collect the evidence, discover what they tried to hide

Necessary force, accurate assault, our justified revenge, we'll live to see them die

Extremist factions, bear arms without honor, attacking our public

One Shot, One Kill

Covert involvement, outlaw callow leaders, ignoble denial

One Shot, One Kill

Our captured soldiers, tortured to death, defiled human corpses

One Shot, One Kill

Hundreds confirmed, not one ever saw me

Punishment, requited in blood

Enemies, threats, eliminate them

Reciprocity, I deliver

No escape, I'll find them

Their vain cause, they'll die for their crimes

Ponder judgment of this

Walking corpse with seconds left to live

With this weapon I damn the malignant

Forward the bolt slides into place

High-speed alloy, pierce the hearts of evil

Fucking rats, to rot in obstruction

Approach by stealth, in silence I strike, penetrate all their defenses

Enemy lines, dissected, besieged, annihilation to meet my objective

Sanctioned psy-ops, imminent targets, predatory infiltration

Lethal resolve, warfare command, precision of fire, I'll terminate your life

Fuckin ace, 10 points to the person who can name the band and song.

i've been looking so long at these pictures of you

that i almost believe that they're real

i've been living so long with my pictures of you

that i almost believe that the pictures are

all i can feel

remembering

you standing quiet in the rain

as i ran to your heart to be near

and we kissed as the sky fell in

holding you close

how i always held close in your fear

remembering

you running soft through the night

you were bigger and brighter and whiter than snow

and screamed at the make-believe

screamed at the sky

and you finally found all your courage

to let it all go

remembering

you fallen into my arms

crying for the death of your heart

you were stone white

so delicate

lost in the cold

you were always so lost in the dark

remembering

you how you used to be

slow drowned

you were angels

so much more than everything

hold for the last time then slip away quietly

open my eyes

but i never see anything

if only i'd thought of the right words

i could have held on to your heart

if only i'd thought of the right words

i wouldn't be breaking apart

all my pictures of you

looking so long at these pictures of you

but i never hold on to your heart

looking so long for the words to be true

but always just breaking apart

my pictures of you

there was nothing in the world

that i ever wanted more

than to feel you deep in my heart

there was nothing in the world

that i ever wanted more

than to never feel the breaking apart

all my pictures of you

also love the lyrics to psycho killer by the talking heads, public image by public image limited and creep by radiohead.

Have you ever read Helmers book, that is one weird novel, Mother Tongue.

But yeah theres certainly a good few Marillion and Fish solo atuff you could quote that are lyrically superb.

Cheers

Stop Me If You Think You've Heard This One Before...

'An emergency stop

I smelt the last ten seconds of life

I crashed down on the crossbar

and the pain was enough to make

a shy, bald bhuddist reflect

and plan a mass-murder

who said i'd lied to her?'

If you want a laugh, 'Strangeways' is lyrically the funniest album I've ever heard.

Archives Of Pain

If hospitals cure then prisons must bring their pain

Don't be ashamed to slaughter the centre of humanity is cruelty

There is never redemption any fool can regret yesterday

Nail it to the House of Lords you will be buried in the same box as a killer' date=' as a killer, as a killer

A drained white body hangs from the gallows

It's more righteous than Hindley's crochet lectures

Pain not penance, forget martyrs remember victims

The weak die young but right now we crouch to make them strong

I give them the respect they deserve

I give them the respect they deserve

I give them the respect they deserve

I give them the respect they deserve

Execution needed, a bloody vessel for your peace

If man makes death, death makes man

Tear the torso with horses and chains

And killers view themselves like they view the world, they pick at the holes

NOT PUNISH LESS, RISE THE PAIN, STERALISE RAPISTS

ALL I PREACH IS

Working Class Hero - John Lennon

As soon as your born they make you feel small,

By giving you no time instead of it all,

Till the pain is so big you feel nothing at all,

A working class hero is something to be,

A working class hero is something to be.

They hurt you at home and they hit you at school,

They hate you if you're clever and they despise a fool,

Till you're so fucking crazy you can't follow their rules,

A working class hero is something to be,

A working class hero is something to be.

When they've tortured and scared you for twenty odd years,

Then they expect you to pick a career,

When you can't really function you're so full of fear,

A working class hero is something to be,

A working class hero is something to be.

Keep you doped with religion and sex and TV,

And you think you're so clever and classless and free,

But you're still fucking peasents as far as I can see,

A working class hero is something to be,

A working class hero is something to be.

There's room at the top they are telling you still,

But first you must learn how to smile as you kill,

If you want to be like the folks on the hill,

A working class hero is something to be.

A working class hero is something to be.

If you want to be a hero well just follow me,

If you want to be a hero well just follow me.

*Follows suit*, but I'll mix it up with a Gold Against the Soul lyric as opposed to the usual Holy Bible.

Life Becoming a Landslide

Childbirth tears upon her muscle

Very first second a screaming icon

Babies in time barely even recognise

Words that once stroked now bruising tired lips

My idea of love comes from

A childhood glimpse of pornography

Though there is no true love

Just a finely tuned jealousy

Life becoming a landslide

Ice freezing nature dead

Life becoming a landslide

I don't wanna be a man

Everyday more numb to agony

This the howl this the sigh of the lonely

One day I realise oil on canvas

Can never paint a petal so so delicate

My idea of love comes from

A childhood glimpse of pornography

Though there is no true love

Just a finely tuned jealousy

Life becoming a landslide

Ice freezing nature dead

Life becoming a landslide

I don't wanna be a man

Life becoming a landslide

Ice freezing nature dead

Life becoming a landslide

I don't wanna be a...

My idea of love comes from

A childhood glimpse of pornography

Though there is no true love

Just a finely tuned jealousy

Life becoming a landslide

A mile empty inside

Life becoming a landslide

Desire on its knees

Life becoming a landslide

A mile empty inside

Life becoming a landslide

Desire on its knees

'i'm thirty but i feel like 16, i might even know your daddy.

i'm dirty but my body is clean, i might even be your daddy.'

and

'you look better completely undressed'

both from 'Daddy Should Have Stayed In High School' by Cheap Trick. In fact, that song is one of my favourite songs purely because of the lyrics.

'why waltz when you can rock n roll'

and

'hello human insects from the planet blue, i have crossed the universe to sleep with you'

from 'Panic In Hanoi' and 'Surrender Earthlings' respectively, both by Lee Harvey Oswald Band.

There's tonnes of ace lyrics, particularly by The Smiths, but my fav lyrics of the mo are the opening few to Ride's 'Like A Daydream'. Dunno why, I just think they're cool.

"The way your hair hangs down it hides away your face

For you it's perfect when it seems like such a waste

And when I see you gliding past I make my plans

And then my plans slip through my fingers just like sand"

Slint - Don Aman

Don stepped outside.

It felt good to be alone.

He wished he was drunk,

Thought about something he'd said,

And how stupid it had sounded

He knew he should forget about it

And decided to piss, but he couldn't.

A plane passed silently overhead,

The streetlights, and the buds on the trees,

And the night, were still.

It finally came. He took a deep breath.

It made him feel strong, and determined

To go back inside.

The light.

Their backs.

The conversation.

The couples romancing, so natural.

His friends stare,

With eyes, like the heads of nails.

The others.

Glances.

With amusement

With evasion

With contempt.

So distant,

With malice,

For being a sty

In their engagement,

Like swimming underwater in the darkness,

Like walking through an empty house,

Speaking to an imaginary audience,

being watched from outside, by no-one

A soul without a key

He could not dance to anything.

Don left,

And drove,

And howled,

And laughed,

At himself.

He felt he knew what that was.

Don woke up

And looked at the night before.

He knew what he had to do.

He was responsible.

In the mirror

He saw his friend.
