I feared England wouldn't make it out the group stage, fair play to Costa Rica for surprising everyone and topping the group. Bloody Italy had them in the work sweepstake! A tasty South American fest on Sat night - Brazil v Chile then Colombia v Uruguay.

my Cameroon team are pretty pants, I fear for the worst against Brazil on Monday. France were fantastic tonight but fair play to the Swiss who kept going. What a fantastic world cup and as the tournament goes on, there will be less talk about England and more talk about teams who can actually play football.

So England limp out, cue months of the media banging on about it. Tuned into ITV to watch France v Switzerland and guess what they were still banging on about England. Whilst I realise the national team of Engerland should be given sufficient and appropriate coverage is it necessary to bang on and on and on about them all the time. Nowadays we also get just about any ex footballer (the majority of whom failed in world cups themselves) trumping their opinions and quite frankly I find the whole two year cycle getting beyond unbearable. The French destroying the Swiss at the moment and Clarke Carlisle is the a co-commentator I actually think is quite good!

Be interesting the see how the Spanish are tonight, I love watching Chile and their gung ho approach, they show no fear! I expect goals! But first the Dutch should comfortably beat the Aussies, not the boldest prediction in the history of punditing mind!

Yep gotta hand it to the Mexicans for getting that point, they didn't allow Brazil to play. Fred was pretty gash and Brazil looked a little better when Jo came on and squandered some decent chances, that Mexican goalie who looks like a girl played very well. 'Spread himself big' as them pundits would say. Marcelo trying to win a penalty at the end was a disgrace, poor decision not to give him a yellow for that. The Brazilians are terrible divers, worse than the Germans I think. Stupid thing if he'd have stayed on his feet he could have got the cross in and there was someone in the middle.

Rooney is now getting in the team on reputation and he is playing out of position simply to include him, England were good tonight but not good enough but there are a lot of positives to take from the game. I agree Rooney should be dropped, he just doesn't cut it on the big stage. Shows the fine line in football though had he taken that half chance presented to him it would have changed the whole attitude to him but he fluffed it. Should be a cracker against Uruguay both teams have to go for it.

Buffon out for Italy is a major blow for them, still think it will a dour 0-0 or 1-1 though. Job done by Columbia, now to endure ITV's coverage of Uruguay v Costa Rica but will they actually spend any time talking about that match? Minimum at best, they'll be banging out about England and hating the fact the BBC have coverage of this one!

Spain have just fallen apart, fair play to the Dutch who have been tremendous 2nd half. think its the end of Spanish dominance, the early warning signs were there when Brazil ripped them apart in the confederation cup final last year. Chile will fancy their chances of beating them next match, gonna be hard to recover from methinks.

I dont think there was an infringement on the keeper for Holland's third, Spain are falling apart but hey ho Torres is on lol!

I was just thinking before the goal that Van Persie has been AWOL but that is the sign of true class, its up there with the best of them. I think the game might peter out into a 1-1 draw though as that would suit both teams but hope I am wrong, been an enjoyable first half. Big game tomorrow then... Colombia v Greece!

If Belgium win their group and I am pretty confident they will do that without breaking sweat, I will be in Gent for their second round match. Oh my word beauty from Van Persie, game on!
