  1. After today's result how much time will Moyes be given one wonders? That was a 'home banker' and they fucked it up. tbh they're so hit and miss they're destined for to become the next Liverpool. Great against Leverkusen in champs league, awful against city... the league cup doesn't really count but still a good morale boosting victory against the scouse gits but losing at home to West Brom well to coin a manager cliche must be 'disappointing'.... Anyway why should I give a fuck when finally for the first time in years I am seeing my own team have some success on the pitch... 12 games unbeaten top of the league by five points, it's now getting hard not to get carried away after all the downright misery I have suffered in recent season. This is what makes every soul destroying cold November defeat to Alfreton Town worth it when you finally have something to shout about! Sure it will probably go tits out but you got to milk any success when you support a mostly crap team for every single cent!
  2. top of the table clash at the Abbey tonight against surprise package Nuneaton Boro, can we extend our unbeaten start to the season and open up a little bit of early season daylight between Cambridge and the rest of the pack??? Probably not, this is a typical shoot yerself in the foot kind of game like lolpool against Southampton last weekend!
  3. For all his moaning about a tough opening set of fixtures, Moyes can have no complaints about the next set which is why he made himself look a bit silly in the first place for such needless complaining. Pressure is on though, drop too many points and he could be in a spot of bother. I do think he'll be given some time though and as good as City were on Sunday they have lost to Cardiff and drawn away at Stoke when apparently they were a bit fortunate to get the point. Not surprised Di Canio is gone but they knew what he was like when they appointed him. However as QPR showed last season, signing lots of players in a short space of time is not usually a good idea. Do these managers not play FM? It clearly states this on the helps and tips screen! Both Sunderland and Newcastle do add entertainment value to the prem league but not necessarily for the right reasons!
  4. wonderfully quiet on facebook last night, usually on derby day my smittering of Man Utd friends whom I suspect have never been within a hundred miles of Old Trafford are waxing lyrical but that result shut them up. I always said the moment sir purple face leaves is the moment Man Utd will slowly go shit. Moyes is a bit out of his depth I think but would it have really mattered who took over?? Too hard an act to follow. Having said that everyone is dropping points at the mo could be an exciting season. Still why the fuck should I care when my own toilet team continue to impress, them Man Utd glory hunters will be supporting Cambridge soon at this rate!!!!!
  5. its fantastic well worth the wait, off work for three days so some serious gaming is in order, have done a few missions and now got ammo and armour to go on random killing sprees!
  6. Cambridge going for a record breaking 7th clean sheet on the spin tonight at that football giant Alfreton Town this evening, bit of a bogey side for us though so taking nothing for granted but will be wonderful to keep going this quite spectacular start to the season we are enjoying!
  7. scrap that last post as going over my good lady's place tonight to have a peek and incredibly it was her idea!!!!
  8. good news is my copy has arrived today, bad news is I gotta wait till tomorrow till I can play it over my girlfriend's as she has an x box!!!
  9. fuck me my team the usual hapless and hopeless Cambridge United have propelled themselves to the top of the conference. For the second time this season. Us toilet football fans are not used to this and it is causing many feelings of confusion and delusion. This is our ninth season down here, it is a grim place at the best of times and until this season we have never been top. Now we done it twice in the space of a week. Like waiting for a bus... I have no idea if we can sustain it over the next forty games and quite frankly right now don't care. When you support a shit club you expect lean times so you gotta grab a situation like with both hands and marvel in the joy! In the real world of football, Owen and Savage as the main pundits on MOTD Sat night??? I know there were beyond shit games but come on you can do better for our license fee!!!
  10. I'm not suggesting he is not a quality world class player, he is clearly awesome but its a big move to Real with a lot of pressure, can he handle it? And is not just him but anyone worth that kind of silly money is my point. But I guess that's how the game is these days, you want your man then you gotta stump up an over inflated transfer fee.
  11. crikey at fucking last that bloody Gareth Bale transfer is finally going through! Good business by Spurs, fuck he's good but not that good, he might not adapt to life in Spain at all....
  12. Thanks knew it was somewhere in Eastern Europe!!!!
  13. Blimey Celtic nabbing a quickfire double ala Footie Manager style game on! Was there any dead sheep with shifty Ukrainians found in the Glasgow vicinity??? Spurs are looking good they are spending the Bale money wisely on paper, big test against the Arseholes this weekend. Good to see Barnet doing well in our league as it means Edgar Davids should still be there when we play them live on BT Sport in a couple of months!
  14. That prize numpty git Alan Brazil was referring to Sunday's games as a 'Super Sunday' that's so fucking Sky Sports! Jesus fuck I find these stupid references when a few of the big teams play so pissing irritating. Apparently Ian Holloway is under pressure already after 2 pissing defeats, fucking hell they weren't even expected to challenge for promotion last season! And MOTD needs Holloway's very entertaining post-match interviews, they do not deserve to be stuck on the graveyard shift of The Football League Show! I like most on here am gagging for this wretched transfer window to shut. Christ on a bike, I swear if I hear that Welsh buffoon Gareth Bale's name again I will do something I regret. Apparently Man Poo are in the running but only if they stump up 125 million quid. Thing is I believe nothing I hear on Talk Sport when they're filling air time, I may as well go on Twitter and start posting untrue shit which I've made up. Arsenal must be due to sign some more substandard French players for their League Cup campaign. The also rans will panic and get in some useless loan players from the French and Belgian Leagues.... And those Eastern European giants whatever they're called who beat Celtic are threatening to do their pre match ritual of killing a sheep at Celtic Park tomorrow night! Good to have the footy back proper now!
  15. fuck me sideways with a wirey brush but Cambridge are top of the league after four games, this has never happened ever in nine seasons of fifth tier basement toilet football so am marvelling in the glory. That will be ended after a good old bank holiday rodgering from Luton Town this afternoon no doubt so may as well enjoy it whilst I can if only the season was played over four games!!!!
  16. I have to sat I quite like Moyes too (he is an ex Cambridge player after all!) I think he is a bit out of his depth at the moment but think in the long term he will find his feet and do a good job at United. It's such a change from being manager of a club where little is expected of you and punching above your weight. As I type Cambridge are top of the conference, probably wont be for long in fact maybe not even by the time the match finishes so I thought I'd get that in!
  17. Anyone seen the comments David Moyes made about the fixture list??? Basically moaning saying it's 'hard to believe' the champions would get such a tough start! Shut the fuck up you idiot and get on with it, you have to play everyone twice simple as that! Sure Sir Alex has given Moyes his little black book of ready made excuses! Moyes sounds like he's feeling the pressure already before a league ball has been kicked! http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/23710359
  18. I was half watching the England Scotland game whilst listening to a thrilling 2-2 draw between Welling and Cambridge. Good to see Scotland can still raise their game when playing the auld enemy. Strachan seems to have injected a bit of fire in the Scots belly after the disaster fest that was Craig 'dullest man in the universe' Levein. Someone on Talksport made the rather good suggestion of scrapping the community shield and replacing it with a yearly England Scotland match with all the proceeds going to charity. As I remember from the old days you were almost guaranteed a cracking match as there is such a desire to win. Some cracking goals, fairy tale stuff from Lambert who played many years in the lower leagues and gets his debut aged 31!
  19. Well an entertaining spectacle at the Abbey this lunchtime! FC Halifax grabbed an early lead then got 2 players straight red carded by the 21st minute, we missed one of the resulting penalties but it mattered not one whit as we ended up triumphing comfortably 5-1 against the nine men. Hard to judge because the opponents were obviously weakened but hey a 5-1 is a 5-1 and a cracking way to get our season going. I too think Moyes will be given time, has he not got a long contract five or six years? It's tough to call who will win the Prem League this season given the managerial changes, could be an exciting title race I think.
  20. First day of the season for me. Laced with euphoric thrill and hope we might have at the very least a half exciting campaign. The TV cameras of BT Sport are parading their asses at the home of toilet football - The Abbey Stadium - for our opening encounter against newly promoted FC Halifax. Not so keen on a 12 O Clock Sunday kick off (we been here before in the conference with stupid kick off times thanks to Setanta RIP) but I think BT Sport covering the conference will be a good thing. I always think first game of the season is akin to first day back at school. I only attended one pre season friendly which was nice but you cannot beat competitive games. As with most of our beloved clubs there has been changes aplenty in the squad, something like 10 new signings. Hopefully of an opening day victory, on paper our signings look pretty shrewd (our director of football (yes we have one lol) obviously plays football manager on a tight budget!) but been here before only for disappointment to be etched within my persona by late September. Could this year be any different? Who knows it just great to have the football back and come rain or shine I will still love my beloved football team until the day I draw my last breath. What the fuck were Celtic doing playing a friendly against Liverpool yesterday??? Bloody managers moan about too many games yet at the first opportunity whisk the players away for a lucrative but ultimately meaningless friendly although I imagine the managers have absolutely no say in these matters. And in the unlikely event plucky unfashionable Wigan Athletic pull off a shock win against Manchester United in the community shield this afternoon, I would imagine David Moyes will be leading the Premier League sack race before a competitive league ball has been kicked... that's the nature of the game these days. Sure he will be given at least three months to prove his worth that he can grapple with the big boys!
  21. I think its a fantastic appointment, it would of course be much better if he played it in the guise of Malcolm Tucker complete with swearing! I think this is a casting to appease older fans of the show, bugger them stupid women lusting after Smith and Tennant!!!
  22. I don't think these lucrative tours are great for pre season preparation, I mean Spurs and Sunderland were playing in monsoon conditions in Thailand or somewhere like that last week plus the travelling can't help but hey money talks in the modern game and the Premier League is a global brand so you can see why it happens, doesn't make it right. Arsenal have the right idea with the Emirates Cup, get decent quality opposition to come to your own gaff!!!
  23. Pre Season for the bigger clubs seems to me like a nice little jolly around the world these days!!!
  24. I bet they use their golden boy Robbie Savage more, extremely irritating little man!
  25. Crikey wish the media would stop harping on about Gareth bloody Bale!!!! Anyways went to my first match of the season last night against a little bunch of unknown farmers called Norwich City... well Norwich reserves with a few first team players including Wes Hoolahan and Gary Hooper who I think was making his debut. I think the latter was picked because he is used to facing such quality of opposition in the SPL. He was utter pants in any case, clearly overweight and lacking match fitness, he never had a sniff at goal, we snuffed him out completely. Bloody hell not been keeping in touch with football over the summer, there was just one player from last season's squad in the starting 11!!! Boy we been busy in transfer market getting them freebies! A good performance won 1-0 with a cracking strike, this probably will be the highpoint of what will inevitably be yet another disappointing season in the top toilet level of English football. Season ticket is now in my grubby hands bring it on!!!
