  1. The word 'female' is now unacceptable to use when referring to a person of the non-male gender.
  2. You sound more ridiculous getting bent out of shape about it TBH....why do they use the term feminist then?
  3. Don't try and apply special rules because there is a girl in the band?
  4. Great film that got a bit lost in the wealth of 'Reservoir Dogs' a likes.....
  5. Evil Dead (2013) As usual with this sort of endeavour I was a bit sceptical about remaking this but I always have to watch the end result....incredible amounts of gore, which makes the banning and uproar over the original even more laughable. The story remains similar with a few embellishments - group of teens travel to a remote cottage in the woods and awaken an evil spirit which starts to possess them. Worth a watch for curiosity value but I think I will stick to the original for rewatch value, plasticine effects and all. 6/10
  6. I have given up on trying to get a band going and have been dabbling with electronic music, influenced by my love of soundtrack music/ambient type shenanigans. I am quite keen to give it a bash in a live setting and if any promoters fancy trying something different please get in touch. I did get offered a slot in a Moorings Variety Night but sadly couldn't manage the date. I have a few demo tracks here - https://soundcloud.com/mjg1971-1
  7. I would say that over the years going to gigs in Aberdeen there has always been a pretty healthy female presence for the most part but then my gig going for local things has dwindled significantly in recent years. Your Cellar gigs always seem to have a pretty healthy split. I would say that females into truly alternative type music tend to be a minority group really, when taken as part of the greater female cross-section. But then I would suggest that the same rings true for blokes generally, I rarely come across many blokes in my day to day life who are into any of the shit I like. I am well out of the loop when it comes to socialising with any local scene types not having been in any bands for a fair while. I can't think of any really good reasons for a female not to be in band other than possibly lack of confidence in trying to get something going...one of the aceist bands I saw in recent times had 2 females in the ranks, His Name is Codeine. Maybe lasses find their way here to try and judge whether its worth pursuing and get put off by the LADZ banter.
  8. Inception WTF? My head hurts. In a good way. Leo De Caprio and other folk do stuff inside folks dreams. Stealing and shit. They want to plant an idea in someones head so they do a dream within a dream within a dream. Or something. Pretty cool but warrants a second watch I think. 9/10 Looper WTF? My head hurts a bit less. In a good way. That guy out of 3rd Rock From the Sun who seems to be in heaps these days kills people sent back in time to be executed and ends up facing off with his future self who was sent back to be killed by himself. Or something. Theres also stuff with a weird kid. Ditto for rewatch. 9/10 Excalibur Early 80's version of the King Arthur legend that has heaps of folk who became famous - Gabriel Byrne, Liam Neeson, Helen Mirren. The guy who plays Merlin was apparently a well respected stage actor but I found him annoying as shit in this. Its very 80's, a bit long, the plot skips about a bit and its a bit dull. 6/10 Sucker Punch A girl imagines herself on various hyper violent missions with her pals when she is really dancing in a brothel. But she started off in a mental institution where we see folk who later work in the brothel. Or something. I dont think I want to rewatch. Its got lots of scantily clad lasses in it for the LADZ. 7/10 One Night in Turin Documentary about Englands 1990 World Cup when Gazza had a greet. OK I guess. 7/10 Watchmen Directors Cut Fancied watching this again, still pretty sure they couldnt have made a much better adaptation of the comic book, is ageing pretty well. 9/10 The Watch Ben Stiller, Vince Vaughn, Richard Ayoade and Jonah Hill form a Neighbourhood Watch team after one of Stiller's CostCo staff gets killed and they end up facing up to an alien invasion. Some amusing bits but given the cast you kind of know what to expect really. 7/10
  9. I dunno, a talented cover band doing decent versions of decent songs is far preferable to listening to an original band whose material is utter pish. Or an original band whose own material sounds like a bad rip off of another band and they would probably be better off being a cover band.
  10. From personal experience, if you want to quit smoking, don't use something else as a substitute, it just keeps your mind on it. Better to just go cold turkey. But you need to WANT to stop. 15 years now....
  11. The site was far more entertaining when prissy metal guys got into bitch fights about who wailed the hardest. Somewhere along the way the site took itself too seriously as some sort of music scene oracle and stopped any such threads, in case anyone found the site and were appalled at the state of affairs. If anyone stumbles on the site now they will probably just wonder why the site name is such a fucking misnomer.
  12. I gave the box set a second go last week, still mostly shite! Doubt i will bother with this much as i like them.
  13. OK I must have imagined the millions of other posts where you mention vinyl.
  14. Jake, we get it, you buy lots of vinyl because you are uber cool. You don't need to make every other post about waiting on records/buying records or cutting bits off records.
  15. This principle would have totally changed the dynamic of 'Die Hard', who would McClane have had emotional support from if Al was in jail?
  16. Union Street is grim. Any shop that closes down seems to be replaced by a betting shop or money lending place. It seems to be a pattern in most cities just now.
  17. The old games section is a bookshop filled with books that are largely to do with either Scottish history or biographies of Scottish footballers, the main shop is a Pound Shop filled with tat that even a pound seems an excessive price for.
  18. If we are done with strip clubs my query pertaining to who is campaigning for more Germans in Aberdeen and why is awaiting a Cool Response...getting concerned an 'Iron Sky' type secret base is being lined up for Union Terrace Gardens or something
  19. I would just sit quietly in a corner and contemplate the important things in life. Like why the fuck you would think CKY is worthier of display than Jackass.
  20. The one in Union Square still takes names but they apparently don't bother taking the concept to the next logical step and call out the name to highlight the order is ready. Luckily my visit coincided with a quiet spell but if it had been a few minutes later, chaos would have reigned...
  21. My cunty neighbours got their garden done a few years back, ripped out all the grass and laid slabs. The guy doing it started about 7:30 every morning for 2 weeks, grinding up slabs and shit. I went and ripped into him one Saturday morning and he chucked out the 'it's OK after 7am' get out, sadly this was correct. Neighbours kindly arranged it all to happen while they were away on holiday. Cunts. Who have since proven themselves to be even bigger cunts during a run in the other month. Fucking hate neighbours. Actually the lass on the other side is sound. Generally I have had bad luck with neighbours though.
