  1. Did you use a squeezy tube? I've found buying one of the trigger gun things and then getting a new cartridge of sealant to use with that is easier to control than trying to manoeuvre a squeezy tube where you want it while applying steady pressure to get a good bead going.
  2. I have some plastic hoojies that do the same thing with a few different curve diameters, they work not bad (top tip is still to wet them slightly) but I found the finger in cloth works best as your finger obviously has a bit of give so if the gap is uneven it doesn't matter so much. I pretty much loathe DIY but in my last house I ripped out the old bathroom and installed a new one. Took me about 2 years to finish because I just can't be arsed. I took 2 weeks off work and thought I would have it done. Took me about a week just to rip out the old one and get all the tiles off the wall. I'd be rubbish at estimating for jobs. Pretty sure I probably didnt do it right, always waiting to hear that the entire bathroom fell through the floor due to gross leakage.
  3. Get one of those J cloths, wrap it round your finger and wet it, then run your finger along the sealant you have just applied, makes it look all nice and professional. Unless of course it is a problem gaining access to the bit you are trying to apply the sealant to then yes it's just a nightmarelol
  4. There has been more than 1 and some have back tracked or been non-committal....you only really need to observe the distribution of 'likes' to see the true picture. I think it's a bit unfair to compare Tom to fucking Stripey...he was a different class, it went beyond just berating people for not being interested in electronica, he berated folk for not liking the 'correct' electronica, anything too populist...
  5. Trying to get onto the dual carriageway from the slip road and having to wait for a slow moving car on the inside lane to pass, you finally get out onto the dualler only for the person behind you to fly out to the outside lane before you have the chance to overtake the slow moving vehicle.
  6. I'm sure it does go both ways but I would say that this thread does not really represent that. To my mind a true Aberdeen music 'scene' would be supportive of all people trying to contribute, regardless of their chosen methods....but there seems to be an inherent need to try and define what is of value, justify a perceived holier than thou position in the 'scene' or what have you. That's my observation anyway and that hasn't altered over the past 10 years really. Luckily of late some supportive and open minded heads have become more prevalent and are trying to do good things, long may it continue.....just sad that some feel the need to remove their presence from the most central online forum for local music....
  7. I would say it tends more towards the people in bands thinking they have some sort of upper hand, regardless of whether the music they make is turgid unoriginal pish or not....
  8. They are 2 different things with different skill sets, although there are of course people who can double dip. This thread is stupid but classic Aberdeen Music fodder. Nae wonder Tam Tuff Wax left.
  9. Beach, I would think, since Union Square wasn't open and Belmont wasnt bought over. Although I suspect it may still have been UGC at that time so technically no Cineworld cinema showed that film in Aberdeen. You sure aren't a Cool Researcher.
  10. I'm a bit biased on this subject given that I am now dabbling with electronic music. It is essentially just piecing together pre-programmed sounds but there is an element of constructing the song and determining what fits, altering the individual sounds, etc. You still need to have some sort of ear for timing and such. Similar to normal song construction really, minus the necessary ability on a chosen instrument. It has allowed me to do something without having to find band members so i'm enjoying it. I'm going to be doing it live soon which will be about triggering various looped sounds as I see fit to try and achieve a certain mood, build up, whatever. Whether it's of true musical value, perhaps not, but some 'true' musicians can be a bit self inflated about their abilities and to be honest have seen bands that have bored me to tears and electronic performers who were fantastic. I don't see why there has to be any sense of one is better than another these days. Miming is something else entirely, thats deceit. And just getting up and pressing 'play' for a complete track just seems pointless too. A DJ requires skills in beat matching and choosing tracks that work and flow together. As for loops, again I think there is a skill in using them to decent effect and it takes a good ear to know how to fit a number of individually simplistic sounds together to make the whole. I saw a lass calling herself O Paon supporting Earth last year, fantastic use of loops using her voice and guitar only to make her backing tracks. Comparing a full band to electronic artists to DJ's is like comparing apples to bananas to pears....
  11. Plug the jack into an electric guitar?
  12. What did I just read for the past few pages?
  13. Hiding his fag by look of it. Rebellious.
  14. Ours sits by the computer that never gets used so it tends to get surrounded by hoovers and god knows what else gubbins that leads me to near break my neck trying to get to it to reset it.
  15. Is that the curvy shaped one? If so thats the one I have and yes it is fucking annoying how much it drops out and needs reset.
  16. Yas, saw him in Glasgow the other week. Best bit was when a raving drunk Weegie collared him just before they went on stage. Bewildered.
  17. Friday - Nowt Saturday - Wedding all day Sunday - Broken
  18. I was down in Glasgow for a gig so made the obligatory trip to FOPP, bought stuff by Crime and the City Solution, Bat for Lashes, Ride and Os Mutantes so have been working my way through that mainly. Also been adding to my Turbonegro collection so a bit of that too.
  19. https://soundcloud.com/godzillablues Slight alteration to web address...if a mod can change the original post, swell....
  20. Yeah well I think that thread has degenerated to kind of provide a possible reason why girls/women/goddesses may be put off.....
  21. Thing is I used it as a descriptive term that seemed pretty safe, I have had women object to being described as a 'girl' as they felt it made them seem immature, I have had women object to being called a 'woman' as it made them seem too old...so I avoided both. The context described by Kirsten is weird though, "that female" suggests an element of dislike to me.
