    Weekend

This weekend I am hoping to hang out with the 7 week old baby that lives with Woods. I would like to go see Carson Wells on Saturday evening but think it's probably fully booked by now. On Sunday I'm gonna hang out with another pal and baby and probably family at night. Then on Monday I'll go visit my granny who has a fractured pelvis in hospital because I'm a fucking diamond and I get to make the "Another football injury, Granny?" joke like a damn legend. Then I'll get on a train back to Edinburgh and be sad.
  3. The new Mountain Goats album about wrestling is streaming on NPR and it's out in two weeks. http://www.npr.org/2015/03/29/395108044/first-listen-the-mountain-goats-beat-the-champ As an aside, Jon Wurster is super handsome.
  4. I won tickets to that. Still sore about not getting to see Kells.
  5. I figured it'd be allowed in the Confessions/Malicious Outing thread.
  6. Did you ever listen to Marquee Moon?
  7. Did anybody watch the latest series of House Of Cards? I just finished it last night... It seemed quite obvious from the Frank vs. Claire nature of the whole series that it would end with the demise of Team Underwood, but now we must divide into our factions. I'm getting a 'Team Claire' t-shirt made. Series good on the whole. Why can't Stamper be happy? He didn't need to do what he did...
  8. You got schooled, punk. It's a great record. Elevator Operator is my favourite so far, but openers are always ace.
  9. I had a shit day and then I saw this and I was happy. Dogs are so dumb I want them all.
  10. I had the same problem with that album, but here's the YouTube playlist. Think all the songs are there. https://youtu.be/fzRukNzUfuA?list=PLk7Ke__-oZJ5bSeKSWkduzNYcl1o3eZW0
  11. That track featuring George Clinton is excellent.
  12. She and Ad Rock are such a power couple. I love how much of an influence she had on him too and how after the Beasties all entered relationships, their lyrics actually spoke about respecting women. That speech he gave about sexual abuse at the MTV Awards is brilliant.
  13. I am a Beautiful Mountain, so I am very sad that my favourite sandwich shop is closing.
  14. I've noticed that Eclectic Fizz refers to most of their drinks as 'fizz' or 'bubbles' (I've not been in, but their website has the details and is a hoot to read out in a bored voice) and I reckon it's because it's not technically champagne so they can't call it that. Sophistication.
  15. Carrie's doing a book! http://pitchfork.com/news/58844-carrie-brownstein-memoir-hunger-makes-me-a-modern-girl-coming-this-fall/
  16. Ah, I thought there was a peach one and others but looking at their website, it looks like I'm thinking of another beer.
  17. What flavour of Fruli did you get?

    Your current read?

I just finished 'Girl In A Band' by Kim Gordon. Oh, boy, is it a bitter 273 pages. On the whole, it was enjoyable, and there are some great stories about her time with Sonic Youth and when she first moved to New York (especially good is the one about when she gave Johnny Thunders into trouble and he retaliated by calling her "four eyes" - Yeah! You tell that nerd, Johnny!) but it's mainly a way of calling Thurston and the woman he cheated with assholes publicly. Which is fair enough, I guess, I've never had a marriage of 30 years be ended by an affair so I probably can't comment, but it didn't seem worth it and it just made me sad. Oh, and such namedropping. Lots of names. The way it is written is pretty odd, too. Almost as if there was no sub-editor or something as there's a lot of repetition. She talks about constantly being asked the question "what's it like to be a rock'n'roll mom?" three times and at every mention of it, it's as if she has just brought it up for the first time. Really bizarre.
  19. They're great. I judged their last record by the cover and thought I'd hate it, but I ended up loving it. Have only listened to this new one or two times but wasn't paying too much attention, so will go back to it on your recommendation.
  20. Friends moved from E4 to Comedy Central a few years ago over here, and I've only ever had Freeview so hadn't seen it for ages 'til it turned up on Netflix. The time away from it has done me good and I'm thoroughly enjoying the re-watch.
  21. I didn't know whether to put this here on in the ace-ic thread, but it's the funniest thing I've seen all day. http://www.ipetitions.com/petition/ban-the-sectarian-use-of-the-word-sevco
  22. Has anybody been watching Tina Fey's show, Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt? It's on Netflix and it's nae bad.
