  1. Ace, thank you. Early 90s is all I know so the Reynolds one sounds good!
  2. I haven't watched the wrasslin' properly since I was little, but I love stuff like this. Can you recommend any books that have ace behind the scenes stories? I imagine you're the guy to ask. [on-topic]I'm so sorry, Christopher Lee. Usually an appearance on my list guarantees you'll live another year, but these points are bittersweet.
  3. I was glad to see the Hotelier in the park as I'd missed them at Forum. Ex Hex were also blisteringly good at the park too, such a nice atmosphere I was almost tempted to buy a homemade mojito from the beer-cerveza-beer guys. Sad to hear the Julie Ruin weren't great, although that makes me feel a bit better about missing all but the last song due to watching Patti Smith.
  4. I think our number in this thread has dwindled slightly, but who did people at Primavera enjoy most? For me, Twerps, Mikal Cronin, Fumaca Preta, Ex Hex, Patti Smith, Sleater Kinney, Mac Demarco and tUnE-yArDs were the best. There wasn't really one stand-out band in my opinion, unlike the last few years, which was a shame, but it was nice to take advantage of other festival stuff like seeing bands in Parc de la Ciutadella and going to the Sala Apolo to see Thee Oh Sees and Fucked Up. I'm usually not prepared enough to research any of this stuff so tend to miss it. Great bunch of festival, all the best.
  5. Same. I like sci-fi (time travel is dope) but fantasy makes me cringe. I can't stand Lord of the Rings either and nothing appeals about Game of Thrones. I think part of it is being unable to relate to it at all. Although I feel that way about period drama type stuff, too.
  6. I am going to listen to all of those because it's okay to judge albums by their covers, don't let anybody tell you anything different, and I think I would enjoy them based on that. I have mostly been listening to these recently. (Photaes!) Mac from Superchunk's record that I've mentioned a billion times on here already. Turns out it's really excellent. More synthy and 80s-sounding than I'm used to with his vocals, but it works. Sounds like a really nice soundtrack to a cool film that none of us have seen. Sometimes the vocals remind me of the Vaselines, sometimes The Male Nurse and that is okay. Such a grower but I'm glad that it has turned out to be so good. [/inadvertent-Merge-records-fan-post]
  7. So Primavera is SOON. Timetable is up: http://www.primaverasound.es/horarios
  8. Fucking hell. There must be loads more millionaires than I imagined.
  9. The new Titus Andronicus album sounds insane. Almost thirty tracks and a bunch of them are covers. Out July 28th on lovely Merge Records. It has to be better than Local Business. http://www.mergerecords.com/the-most-lamentable-tragedy
  10. We've just started filming our reality series.
  11. 'Lonesome Street' is the most Blur-sounding song I've heard in a long time! Intrigued to hear the new album. More Superchunk-related loveliness - Mac McCaughan's album is streaming on NPR: http://www.npr.org/2015/04/26/401499426/first-listen-mac-mccaughan-non-believers?utm_source=twitter.com&utm_medium=social&utm_campaign=nprmusic&utm_term=music&utm_content=20150426
  12. I went for a simple, "I realised that lots of people I'm friends with on here, I don't really know very well and figured that anyone I hadn't had an actual conversation with for a few years probably wouldn't miss me much. Nothing personal." I also namechecked a few people we both know who I've never been friends with on Facebook and claimed I'd unfriended them for the same reasons too so she wouldn't feel like I went out of my way to remove her. Which I definitely did. Nobody wants to hear that, though.
  13. I replied to her message. Potentially a massive faux-pas but felt like an arsehole for ignoring it. Really excited to see if she replies.
  14. Ohhh I thought the joke was that it was bay leaf. I feel cheated.
  15. At least you can always get a gun to cheer yourself up.
  16. She's basically a friend of some friends of mine and I've never had much time for her but haven't actually engaged in conversation with her for about five years. I deleted her because I know nothing about her and we aren't actually friends. I had her hidden for ages but she's friends with other people I know, so would see her replies to their stuff. It was during a clear out that she got canned. I do think muting people is ace, though. I imagine lots of people have me muted too. The only thing is you miss out on big events in their life that you should probably know about. I just found out that someone I know and do like (but had hidden from my feed because she just posted selfies all the time) has been living in Thailand for the last six months. Doh!
  17. The two best Bobs. Also Superchunk, the greatest band of all time.
  18. She has realised that we're no longer friends and sent me a friend request with a message saying "No idea why you disappeared from my friends list - I didn't unfriend you! Was thinking that I hadn't seen any posts from you for a while and then it said I had to add you! If you unfriended me, sorry for bothering you. I'm assuming it's some mad fault, though. XxxX" Waaaah. Can people not leave this sort of stuff be? On the plus side, when I inevitably give in to the guilt and accept her request, I can post the last six months on here.
  19. If there's one thing I hate, it's emigrants. [/stewart Lee]
  20. I'm so glad this is good. JD's finally come up with something to rival No Children's "I hope you die, I hope we both die" as Best Live Singalong Line: "I personally will stab you in the eye with a foreign object." Gie it a listen. Someone's put the whole thing on YouTube. https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL38IiaZaCeNiHkrYImIaqq6iVBp8gPUCN What else is good, Forum Lads? I have put a few things into my Albums 2015 Spotify playlist that are promising but think I need to play more of. Including: 'Ripe 4 Luv' by Young Guv, 'Fast Moving Clouds' by Sarah Bethe Nelson, 'Universal Coolers' by Radical Dads.
  21. It's so great. It sounds like it needs to be on a video game.
  22. https://youtu.be/VTaQhkkyNQI (how do you embed videos? I'm on my phone.)
  23. I liked when Dolly was made to say it. https://youtu.be/L6GKrpgCcnE Just slips off the tongue.
  24. Same. I've been enjoying listening to the records people have picked but have just been stupidly busy so don't get round to the actual reviewing.
