  1. I don't have Sky but quite fancied seeing it so will keep my beadies out for it turining up on DVD. I didn't realise it had lovely gratuitus nubbies out and all that malarky, makes me even keener to get hold of it. :0)
  2. I am probably waaaaay to sad to watch these shows as I just get to annoyed. :0) Does it not take multiple sessions and ages to get tats lasered off? (unless going for the "let's set the laser to uber power setting and take the flesh off")
  3. (the big rolly fellows were pretty cool)
  4. After my short rant on Star Wars - The Phantom Menace I thought I would start a thread on nit picking. What films or TV shows make your blood boil with blatantly stupid actions, plot points or techno gabbery. For starters I will kick off with the A-Team, how can seasoned vets miss so much with the amount of firepower they lay down and also the bad guys seem to blast away with everything under the sun and never manage to hit that huge big van! The single worst time was when BA was shot in the leg by a 50 cal heavy machine gun and there was a wee bullet hole, whatttttt! This should have torn his leg clean off!
  5. Saw the remake of Texas Chainsaw Massacre for the first time, wasn't impressed though Jessica Biel looked pretty foxy in it. Leatherface was a bit of a woose in it, I could have taken him pretty easily. :0) Also watched Star Wars:Phantom Menace again and got even more annoyed with it, so many nit picks it was unbelievable. I thought I might have liked it better after a long period of time but I ended up being even more dissapointed. The war scene at the end with the Jar Jar folks against the droids was just cringe worthy. Why when the big control ship blows up do some of the robots heads fall off??? Also if the shield on the big control ship is impenetrable how does Anakins fighter get in the hanger to blow it up from the inside out? Also, how can the Jedi swat away the laser bolts with their lightsabers, looking at the arm speed when they do it the bolts can only be going 100mph or so, a good old fashioned bullet would soon them pesky Jedi off! I could type dozens of paragrpahs on all the annoying points in this film. Don't get me started on the lamest battle droids of all time either!
  6. I use Expert PDF which cost me about 30. Not exactly freeware but a damn site cheaper than the full Adobe Acrobat package.

  8. Slayer Sabbat Dead Metal Thrashist Regime
  9. Treated myself to "The Mist" on Blu Ray yesterday so watched it last night as I had heard good things about it. I really enjoyed it and was surprised with the bleak non hollywood type ending. Going to watch the black and white version at the weekend.
  10. Decided to update this to the ten bands I have listened to most over the last month, again not in order: 1) Within Temptation 2) Eyes Of Eden 3) Sabbat 4) Destruction 5) Metal Church 6) McQueen 7) Serpico 8) Alestorm 9) Die So Fluid 10) Metallica
  11. Just pre-ordered the new albums from Alestorm, Viking Skull and Saxon. Also managed to round up a batch of Morbid Angel albums as part of my vinyl replacement program. Other recent purchases include: AC/DC - Black Ice Tesla - Forever More Pink - Funhouse The Clan Destined - In The Big Ending Metal Church - This Present Wasteland Motorhead - Motoriser Kivimetsan Druidi - Shadowheart SSS - The Dividing Line Doro - Celebrate Anastacia - Heavy Rotation The King Blues - Save The World Get The Girl Fei Comodo - They All Have Two Faces and on DVD eventually got round to getting Volkerball from Rammstein and also Black Symphony from Within Temptation.
  12. Delivery companies have been a real bugbear with me just now, had appalling service from CityLink and Parceline in the last month. From City Link delivering my laptop to the wrong address and then doing nothing to recover it until the the company that wrongly received it sorted it out to Parceline's guaranteed next day delivery of my new mobile taking 4 days. Customer service from both was next to non existant as well with complete indifference shown.
  13. I enjoyed last night, was a good gig. The Hijacks were the only band I hadn't seen before and thought they were very good indeed.
  14. Some bands whom I really like and are well known on their own turf and further afield but pretty much unknown here (outside specific small fanbase & knowledgable muso folks) : Eluveitie - Switzerland Tystnaden - Italy Tyr - Faroe Islands Wolf - Sweden Delain - Netherlands Cloudscape - Sweden Exilia - Italy Reanimator - Canada (not the old British thrash band Re-Animator) Gojira - France (though starting to make inroads in the UK and USA) Beautiful Sin - Belgium/Norway Mandragora Scream - Italy Gama Bomb - Ireland As probably expected they are all various flavours of metal covering folk/goth/thrash/death/operatic styles.
  15. You would be correct there, though saying that I do have some unexpected stuff, never write anything off until I hear it.
  16. I had thought about it but I hate "in the round" style gigs and I also hate the SECC so that pretty much nailed it. I do like the new Metallica album though and I also like Machine Head and The Sword so I did waver a bit. 40 for this gig isn't excessive either considering the average for Arena gigs these days, same price as AC/DC. However for next spring'ish time I have tickets for AC/DC at the Manchester MEN and also Judas Priest/Megadeth/Testament at Wembley Arena. Also looking forward to my 2 upcoming Edinburgh gigs, got Bullet For My Valentine/Lacuna Coil/Bleeding Through/Black Tide on the 9th Nov and Alestorm on the 22nd Nov. Also, Disarm who are coming to Moorings on the 15th Nov are worth seeing, quality up and coming band.
  17. Most impressed, Disarm at Moorings! I reviewed their album for HardRockHouse recently and it was excellent, looking forward to reviewing them live now. Good stuff indeed.
  18. Been meaning to check out the Tunnels metal night so will probably trot along for this gig first.
  19. Enjoyed the last time I saw them with Capdown so I think I will head along to this.
  20. A quiet (not the music) but enjoyable night and thanks again for the t-shirt, I will wear it with pride! Really good sets from Dead Metal, Downfall and Thrashist Regime.
  21. I have found Simpson, Brebner and Partners to be very good indeed and fix everything really quickly. I have rented with them for nearly 4 years now and I wouldn't go anywhere else.
  22. I don't know Man Of The Future but those other 3 are ace, damn, busy tonight, wonder if I can wriggle away to the Tunnels????
  23. this is a great thread, you can't beat a good old rant. I rent with Simpson, Brebner and Partners and they have been ace, things get fixed when asked, the place has been decorated, queries answered promptly and politelly. A friend of mine was with APS though and she also had a nightmare with them. right some rants: 1) Those bastards that keep kicking my wing mirror and my neighbours mirrors off every weekend. I fold them in all the time and I have even had the situation when I came out in the morning to find my mirror still folded but the glass smashed, they must have folded it out, smashed it and folded it in again. Had it smashed 4 times (damaged another 8/9 times)this year so far and 6 times last year, police not interested and of course my insurance excess is more than getting it fixed so in the last 2 years I have shelled over 1500 on wing mirror costs. This doesn't cover the dents, kick marks, spit marks and pee marks on the car as well. If I catch one of these "amusing" chaps then they are going to get the kicking of a lifetime, myself and my neighbours are past the point of "reasonable" action. 2) My wife used an HBOS cashpoint but it didn't discharge the 200 she asked for. The appropriate forms were filled in and out own bank (Lloyds TSB) informed etc but it took them 8 weeks between them to refund the money and that was after more visits, phonecalls and letters than you can shake a stick at. There was a point where my wife was in lloyds and she was told to her face that the money was going back that afternoon, it then took another week before the money showed up. 3) Citylink, grrrrr. My PC gave up the ghost so I ordered a new laptop to get delivered to my work. Amazon promptly despatched it via Citylink so I waited patiently for it. The day of delivery came but no laptop so I checked the Citylink site and they had it down as delivered and signed for by a person I had never heard of. I checked to make sure that no person of that name worked anywhere in the building and called them, and again, and again. They flat denied that it had been delivered anywhere else, the driver swore blind it was delivered to my work and the City Link head office even suggested a work colleague must have signed for it under a false name and stole it. Luckily the place it had been wrongly deliverd to called up Citylink to force them to take it to the correct owner (ie, me) but otherwise City Link would never have owned up to screwing up. The other infuriating point was that when I chased up again a few days later know one had taken a note of the issue and I had to explain everything to another 2 people and as expected there was multiple occasions of the usual, "we will call you back shortly". 4) I don't normally trust government/council etc with my bank details but on moving to Aberdeen I decided to pay my council tax by direct debit, big mistake. I was working away a lot so my eye was off the ball but 3 months into the council tax year I noticed my account was very very low which concerned me greatly. The council had been taking the full yearly amount of every month and the grief on getting the money back was ridiculous. 5) On behalf of a friend, she has just paid her TV licence for the full year on her bank card which was a struggle for her as she is a student but has been ill for a while so hasn't been able to work. The idiots double charged her (nearly 300 of her account) and are telling her that they can't refund her for 4 weeks even though she has no money left for food for the month. I have loads more but better get back to work!
