  1. That was a good gig last night, Heavens Basement as always excellent but enjoyed everyone last night and the gig had a good atmosphere.

  3. Just read up on the first evening there, not what I am looking for at all, ah well.
  4. I agree, I have confirmed with 2 well known central belt bands to come up and play and willing to give Tiger Tiger a bite at it before pitching to the usual suspects. Also trying to add on a current good Aberdeen band to open. The 2 bands confirmed are: Serpico : SERPICO - Glasgow ABC2 - April 11th! on MySpace Music - Free Streaming MP3s, Pictures & Music Downloads Youtube : HeHatesUs : HeHatesUs on MySpace Music - Free Streaming MP3s, Pictures & Music Downloads the gig will be happening on Friday 5th June with venue to be confirmed. Also will be pitching this to the uni folks as a combined end of term rock party/gig. Won't be every ones cup of tea but Serpico have did some stonking European support slots with Wednesday 13, Black Stone Cherry, Stone Gods, InMe, Paradise Lost, AFI etc and put on a great show. This will also be the debut gigs for both bands in Aberdeen.
  5. I have emailed you directly Scott about putting a gig on the 5th June, can you get back to me ASAP as I need to get things nailed in the next few days.
  6. should be Darkwater :: The Official Site Heaven's Basement - Hurricane Party/Roadstar Mk3 Saw them at Bloodstock last year and really liked the set so looking forward to the Tunnels gig.
  7. I have grown up with Metallica, from dashing out to buy Kill Em 'All just after it was released to getting my advance review copy of Death Magnetic I have ridden with them so to speak through all the peaks and troughs. Are they still relevant, depends on your viewpoint and musical taste. Some people say they are past it but in my opinion that doesn't hold up, if anything I would say they have re-discovered themselves and there is a vibrancy within the camp and live that was missing for a very long time. I rate Death Magnetic highly but it does take a little time to grow on you but I think that this will be a footstep towards whatever they do next and was in escence an album version of blowing off the cobwebs. The "past it" argument could also be pitched at (as previously mentioned) U2, Rolling Stones, Sting, Eric Clapton, Iron Maiden, Slayer etc etc. I personally like to take each album/live performance as it comes and judge then, rather than accept popular opinion/mass hysteria/negative press. St Anger I found complete balls but most of Metallica's other stuff I have found to be at least pretty good ranging up to excellent. On a side note, I saw Megadeth in London recently and it was the best live performance I have seen from them in 20 years. Dave might be as mad as a hat full of badgers but if he keeps putting on performances like that I will keep watching. (also liked United Abominations, so what if it could have been released in 1985.) 8-) 2nd side note, the current line up of Exodus are crushing live and the remake of Bonded By Blood is excellent as has been their previous recent studio albums. 3rd side note, Slayer do what Slayer do though seemingly the next album is their last and they are calling it a day. Possibly the most influential of all the thrash bands and still epic live. I can't say that I have a problem with them not churning out experimental albums or deviating from their "sound", I like what they play and how they play it and it qualms me not a jot that there hasn't been any real musical "growth".
  8. I don't know, the first 3 Pantera albums before Cowboys From Hell were a bit ropey though Power Metal (Phil's first with them) was in general quite good.
  9. gutted, you guys were one of the best new bands in Aberdeen, hopefully will still see you around and fingers crossed something else crops up, a real shame though as you had some good tunes and were starting to get better known.
  10. Looking forward to it, hopefully see a few familiar faces (like you guys, Deadmetal dudes). Will have my colleague in tow from Houston for his first night out in Aberdeen.
  11. A very entertaining evening, you can't beat a few pints of guinness and some balls to the wall metal! :0) Enjoyed all the bands and liked the varying styles across the sets but Speedtheory were just immense.
  12. I also get really shit stuff from my brother, last year was the bottle of beer in a plastic cooler.
  13. I got all that from my father in law, he is an ex engineer turned techie teacher and I thought he was going to have a heart attack when I told him I only had a hammer and a single screwdriver (though have a jewellers kit for working on laptops and PC's).
  14. Dead Metal for me though also really like Downfall, Element and Hot Mangu so a tough call. Not heard much from the others really but Thrashist Regime should have been up there, quality band.
  15. in no order: Dead Metal Thrashist Regime Downfall Emeritus Element 106
  16. Not sure as I have changed my mind a lot but in no particular order: Metallica - Death Magnetic Testament - Formation Of Damnation Trivium - Shogun Exodus - Let There Be Blood AC/DC - Black Ice Benedictum - Seasons Of Tragedy Motorhead - Motoriser Laaz Rockit - Left For Dead The Clan Destined - In The Big Ending Tesla - Forever More
  17. Got no favourites in Aberdeen really, not been here 4 years yet so still deciding. Depending who I am with I end up in all sorts of places though common ones are the Basement, Moorings, Slaines, The Grill, Frankensteins, Tunnels, Hogshead, The Office, Moshulu, Queen Vic, Malted Mill, Justice Mill, Twig etc Always looking out for new experiences and quality pints. Have carried out the King Street challange on a few occasions as well which is always amusing.
  18. I would certainly "do" his missus, she is looking pretty good these days, especially in Iron Man. Coldplay music sends me to sleep though, very "safe" and lots of my 40 something friends buy these type of albums. I am sure they are all lovely people, just don't float my boat. Saw the old Alien live a couple of times but I get bored after 3/4 songs of twiddlyness.
  19. but Beyonce is so annoying and incredibly wooden and not even very good looking, bit fat erse on her like a couple of fighting jelly's.
  20. I girl I used to work with was sent over to the Miami office and got a ticket to see Ms Spears and she was gutted that she mimed the entire gig and it was very blatant with no attempt to hide it but the predominantly small girls in the audience didn't seem to mind.

    Your current read?

You can't beat some pulp horror (or sci-fi/fantasy). I seem to have been on an epic read of Warhammer books this last year and graphic novels which I haven't done this past couple of decades. Also plowed through all the Simon Green books which were quite amusing. Might try and read something a bit more weighty shortly to try and get the old grey cells moving again, either that or waste more time on Mario Kart on the Wii.
  22. Found a few things on Amazon with the same name but nothing that suggests Paquin nubbies?
  23. i do know of someone who de-tatooed themselves with wire wool while I was at high school, now that looked painful. I imagine you would have to rub down very deep to get a tat out. Why in films can the hero always knock out the guard on patrol with one punch yet later fights with more senior baddies become epic fistycuffs? Even the wee girlies seem to always knock out the guards with a wee powderpuff hit!!!!
  24. eXPert PDF 6: Amazon.co.uk: Software Expert PDF v6.0 the original v5.0 was a wee bit ropey though worked a lot better when patched but v6.0 is seemingly pretty stable and does most things that the multi hundred pound full blown Acrobat will do.
  25. I have went for Lemon Tree as it is pretty spacious and better laid out for an awards type thingy than Moorings or Tunnels though I like them better for gigs. Band noms: Best Rock - Downfall Best Newcomer - Dead Metal Best Indie - Amy Sawyer Most Missed - Black Atom Best International - Serpico (if Edinburgh is classed as International) Best Of The Rest - Liars Dice Best Extreme - Element 106 Worst Band - not really into negative voting but I have seen some howlers but can't remember the names of them.
