I really liked it, was an interesting take on the Iron Man story and Downy Jnr is an ace Tony Stark. A decent sense of humour running through the film as well without cheapening it. I give it 8.5/10 and will probably purchase it on DVD or Blu Ray as well (if funds permit and the PS3 purchase is made in the summer).

I do remember Joe mentioning this while down at the Exodus gig, will have to check them out. Got hold of the Realm album "Endless War" today, was one of my favs from back in the day, quality album.
-
That was an interesting experience, wasn't sure to cringe or smile during Wifebeater! Pretty good SOD/MOD style though. Dead Metal were pretty damn good, first time I have seen these lads.

[GIG] imp present: Ida Maria + support @ The Tunnels

A requirement for every gig full stop! :0) Even better is that one of them in particular brings me booze back from her trips back to Finland. -

She looks a bit like Melanie Chisholm in that poster. Very well then as my poster skills are not required I will have to make an Ida hat up so people enquire what the hat is and the come along to the gig! After all this I suppose I had better go along to the gig as well, will drag a few bodies along with me including some drunken Scandanavian girls I know. -

I should think so as well, mine was a spur of the moment one as I thought Ida's gig had been missed and wanted to make sure at least some people were aware of it. I might make a poster up then to top you using my phenomenal non existant art skills (though this might drive people away from the gig rather than attract them??) -
I was down at the Exodus/Evile gig in Glasgow a couple of weeks ago, ace stuff. I have never really been away from thrash but this last here I have been getting back into the classic stuff a lot more especially Kreator, Slayer, Acid Reign, Xentrix, Sabbat, Laaz Rockit, Forbidden, Vio-Lence, Slammer, Tankard, Onslaught etc Loving the new Testament album as well, they were awesome at Bloodstock last year as well.

Ida Maria + support @ The Tunnels, 11th May
Norseman replied to offramp's topic in Interesting Music Promotions
Not doing anything on the 11th so may go along as most Scandinavian acts are generally entertaining/wierd or both. 8-) -
Very strange, I wasn't allowed to select yes on who will be attending? I will definately be going though as they were very good the last 2 times I saw them and much heavier than I was expecting. Not been to the Tunnels in ages as well so 2 pigeons with one rock.

this is tonight folks for all those interested (18th April 2008)

Anyone know the price and time for this gig on Friday? Just bought their album this week "Scatter The Crow" and it is pretty good, reminds me of a mix of Alice In Chains and Stiltskin in places.
-
They are back at Drummonds this Friday (18th April 2008) to promote their new album "Scatter The Crow". Someone should stick this in the gig calendar, not sure of timings or price though as it was one of the gigs transferred over from Kef.

Was planning to but knee is giving me serious gip again so having to bail on tonight, pity as I like these Monday nights, hopefully will make next Monday no problem. Was nice bumping into the Black Atom guys at the Exodus gig in Glasgow, hope you didn't lumbered all night Joe with that strange wee bloke.

norwegian metal - who'd come to see these guys?
Norseman replied to The Ghost Of Fudge's topic in Krakatoa
I would come along to that, would be pretty intense in Moorings. -
Thanks for the heads up, will check it out.

10th April - Metal Night - RGUUnion

That was plan B. -
Always Moorings as well and Moshulu still do rock/metal on Saturday nights in the back room as well. The Black Tooth nights are good and I am about to find out what the RGU metal nights are like after tonight.

I am going there to see Slaves To Gravity next Friday, my last visit to Kef. Seen a fair few good bands there though unless you walked passed and saw a poster you never knew what was going on there. There are quite a few gigs booked for May so I am wondering if these have now been rebooked or the bands are unaware of the situation?

No, most of the range are 2 wheel drive, there is a 4 wheel drive model though. Also I have heard the wee Picanto's are the best of the Kia range and are actually much better built than the big ones and feels more like a European car. Not that I would know much about this sector, been years since I had anything under a 2.5 petrol.

10th April - Metal Night - RGUUnion
Norseman replied to magicaardvark's topic in Gigs & Event Announcements
I think I will hit the doors at 8.30pm as there is a chance that there might now be 5 of us with only 2 studi cards (not RGU) to go around. Will blag our luck as the 3 others are all ex studi's from Aberdeen College/RGU but do spend a lot and have been big supporters of the Aberdeen metal scene so it's worth the effort to blag everyone in I think. -
A girl I used to work beside had one and she really liked it, thought it was a sharp we handler and roomier than she was expecting at the size, she replaced an old VW Polo with it. I reckon for the cheapness of servicing/tax/insurance allied with great mileage and a very long warranty it certainly is piece of mind motoring and I haven't heard of any reliability issues. Can't say I would go down that route myself but I can see the common sense in it and it will be bloody easy to park!

Norseman replied to magicaardvark's topic in Gigs & Event Announcements
I never bothered to get an NUS card as my missus has one but I we will come along and I will try and blag in directly with my Birkbeck uni card and it is now only 2 non students we have to sign in so fingers crossed we will get them both in as they are pretty keen to check the night out. Request from my missus is Juliette & The Licks. 8-) -

Norseman replied to magicaardvark's topic in Gigs & Event Announcements
Quite fancy this myself but I hope someone answers the issue of student cards, RGU only or others as my missus is Aberdeen Uni and I am Birkbeck Uni. Also is it only one person you can sign in or more than one as we have 3 friends interested in coming along so would be a pain to bin one of them (that's if us "foreign" studi's can enter in the first place).
