  1. Watched The Social Climber last night, fairly typical American "comedy" about bad selfish girl eventually becomes good. Jennifer Love Hewitt flashes uber amounts of cleavage in it though and her take on a bunny outfit is impressive but apart from a couple of amusing moments a pretty poor attempt though I would give it 3/10 for the sheer amount of JLH boobies! :0) Also got round to watching The Number 23 on Blu Ray, interesting take on a psychological thriller with an ending I had suspected but then dismissed part way through the film to be caught out by it. I generally prefer the Jim Carey serious movies anyway but this was an interesting avenue for him. A few holes and some unexplained moments but in general a solid 7.5/10 from me.
  2. Downfall have been consistantly good and were ace at the gig I put on at The Tunnels. Bloodnut also keep steamrollering along in the metal scene. Should also be an award for the most frenetic frontman for Joe from Thrashist Regime. :0) Liars Dice always impress me as well and again were also excellent at my gig.
  3. For me there are a number of albums I never get tired of and I feel they captured something above and beyond the call of duty, special albums I suppose which make up the core of my ipod play list, includes: Metallica - Master Of Puppets, Kill Em All, Ride The Lightning Slayer - Reign In Blood, South Of Heaven Anthrax - Among The Living, Spreading The Disease Iron Maiden - Iron Maiden, The Number Of The Beast, Piece Of Mind, Powerslave AC/DC - Back In Black, Highway To Hell McQueen - Break The Silence Faith No More - Angel Dust, The Real Thing The Cult - Electric SOAD - Toxicity Rammstein - Reise Reise, Rosenrot Annihilator - Alice In Hell Xentrix - Shattered Existence Sabbat - Dreamweaver, History Of A Time To Come Testament - The Legacy, The New Order Megadeth - Peace Sells, Countdown To Extinction Queensryche - Operation Mindcrime, Empire Black Sabbath - Heaven And Hell, Mob Rules Dio - Holy Diver, The Last In Line Dark Angel - Darkness Descends Twisted Sister - Under The Blade Motorhead - Overkill, Inferno Death Angel - The Ultraviolence Nightwish - Once Paradise Lost - Draconion Times Dream Theater - Octavarium Guns 'N' Roses - Appetite For Destruction Savatage - Hall Of The Mountain King Overkill - Taking Over, Horrorscope I know there is a fair few there but I listen to a lot of music so my fav album list is pretty long, arguably could be longer as there were a few fine calls there.
  4. Quite enjoyed this, recorded it and watched it last night. Only briefly touched on the darker side of her life and ghosted over a few other grittier areas but Gretchen Mol played Betty really well and really captured the "look".
  5. I always stop off for a few pints in The Black Rose on Rose Street as well, anywhere that has Slayer on the jukebox is good with me! The Blue Blazer is also a good tip from above, a mate of mine James Nisbet is the manager and he is good for a banter.
  6. Signed and will be punted round everywhere else I know, will get it on FB later today as well.
  7. Good stuff, will be giving this a bash when I am in town.
  8. Was a good gig last time round at Moorings and good to see he is coming back on the Sat 27th Feb 2010.
  9. Had a gander at their myspace, not really pop punk, more old school american punk with a metal edge and quite catchy. Also reminded me a bit of some of Juliette & The Licks stuff and also The Plasmatics with even some Dianno era Maiden nods in there.
  10. Had a blast last night, enjoyed all the bands but Viking Skull are the doggies doodas! Pity they didn't play longer but that was some proper beer soaked metal! :0)
  11. this could be amusing, quite like Escape and Kai anyway and it's a Friday night. Lita always looked quite tasty in a kick your teeth in sort of way as well.
  12. I thought I would give this a bash during my "excercise" at lunchtime which means after I finish my lunch, I sit on a sofa at work and drink a can of fizzy lovelyness and eat crisps while reading some crappy tabloid. Today I decided to catalogue what cropped up on my ipod while I "worked out": Pantera : Walk Iron Maiden : Charlotte The Harlot Megadeth : Sweating Bullets Municipal Waste : Relentless Threat McQueen : Break The Silence Ozzy Osbourne : No More Tears Rammstein : Keine Lust Sanctity : The Rift Between Serpico : Kultura Sevendust : Praise Skeletonwitch : Stand Fight And Die L7 : Wargasm Mammal : Burn Out Heavens Basement : Executioners Day Five Finger Death Punch : Bulletproof Nightwish : Planet Hell Soho Dolls : Stripper So all in all good solid work out music, got me up a fair old sweat!
  13. I thought Tom White or somebody or other was playing the Tunnels tomorrow, is this in Tunnels 2 or something then?
  14. If you can imagine a band that has a sound akin to Black Sabbath rutting with Motorhead and AC/DC at an all night beerfest you will get the gist of it.
  15. Watched Infestation last night, a low budget creature horror'ish movie. Was not bad actually, reasonable special effects with some decent comedy moments. Also the guy who plays the Devil in Reaper is in it and does a decent turn. Wasn't expecting much from the film but at 2.99 was willing to give it a go and it was probably worth a fiver! A decent solid 7.5/10 from me here though the ending was a bit predictable and weak though the battery moment was slightly amusing.
  16. I am sure I will come across as some sort of over analytical geek boy but Hollywood car chases just drive me mental, their are hundreds of examples but two recent ones that spring to mind are from the series Moonlight and the film Doomsday. Moonlight : Hero vampire bloke and girlie he is bodyguarding are trying to lose some goons who are driving some big chunky typically American SUV types, all body roll, oversteer and massive oversized tyre. The good guys though have these big tonka trucks right up their back side and pulling up beside them the whole chase and only after some good fortune lose them. However said good guys were in an Audi R8!!!! This chase was mostly around "A" type roads with lots of high speed cornering, something the R8 is built for but as per Hollywood usual the chase has to be close. Doomsday : How you can't escape loons in a battered old VW minibus (even if souped up) when driving a Bentley GT Coupe with it's monster W12 twin turbo engine on long fast sweeping roads. What the hell!!!! Anyone else with examples of crazy car chases that shouldn't happen as one party's vehicle is a completely different league?
  17. Totally agree, if you are caught in someones living room at 3 in the morning with the Wii under the arm then you should have to accept all what is coming. Would be a non case in the States and many other countries. Hopefully the guy gets a very light sentence but a shame his life has been screwed by these two little sh*ts, at least one of them got what he deserved. (in that kind of mood today after finding out my wing mirror has been kicked off yet again!!!!)
  18. Excellent news, haven't seen ND since that awesome set at Bloodstock 2008.
  19. Gets even better then, Joe and the boys always put on a good show.
  20. Got my ticket a while back, this will be my 4th year and HairyScary will definately be there as always.
  21. I was at the back and over to the right of the stage and I thought the sound was pretty horrible, all bass and drums and could barely hear any guitar work. I also found the evening very "soulless" without quite being able to put my finger on why. I ended up leaving early as I got bored which I was suprised at as I have enjoyed seeing them previously. Those slidey floors are a bloody nightmare as well, twisted my knee which is giving me some serious gip today. Very strange mishmash of tunes between sets as well and earlier in the evening you wouldn't have thought the Bassment was a rock bar. All in all a very strange evening and being soaked to the skin didn't help.
  22. aaah, not good about the date, down seeing The Answer in Edinburgh on the 27th, ah well.
  23. A pretty big name for the Warehouse, always found his stuff good chill out music, not my usual cup of tea but always put a grin on my face so might have to saunter over to this.
  24. They were bonkers last time up! Anyone know if the "sock" is still part of the band?
  25. I have been inundated with folk I know trying to source tickets for this gig, if this is across the board then maybe the Music Hall might have been a goer!
