  1. Me and the bird go to the Algarve every year, sometimes twice. Lovely beaches, nice folks, good food and pretty cheap (if you stay away from the overtly touristy areas). She always books our accommodation, flights and any transfers from www.alpharooms.com and gets great deals (if how much she says it costs is to be believed). We recently had 10 days in a 4 star apartment with flights from Glasgow and transfers for £540 in total.
  2. I can only imagine that Sean William Scott will be playing you and Eddie Kay Thomas will be playing your colleague in the movie. You know, it seems like a right laugh at the moment but I imagine you'll find yourself regretting your little arrangement when that one girl you really like inadvertently finds out about your little arrangement (don't worry, you'll get her back in the end). On the flip side for your friend his threesome in the train toilet with two Swedish supermodels will change his outlook. The good thing is that you'll both learn a lot about yourself, and each other, in this wonderful new gross out comedy "Peter and Lightfoot: On the Rails"
  3. Blaszczykowski watched his father stab his mother to death when he was 11. Now he is the captain of his national team and scored an absolute PEARLER. What a story. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jakub_B%C5%82aszczykowski

    Your current read?

Currently reading "The Killing Season: A summer inside an LAPD Homicide Division" by Miles Corwin. As you'd imagine it's a journalist's account of shadowing a couple of homicide detectives in South Central LA in '94. Compared to David Simon it is not much to write home about, but compared to David Simon even God would seem average. It is reasonably well written although a bit repetetive. The murder figures at that time were unbelievable. In that area of LA there were 400 murders a year. People just shooting the fuck out of each other, often for little reason and no punishment. As NWA rightly pointed out - When something happens in South Central Los Angeles, nuthin happens....
  5. I didn't support England's opponents as much as I naturally used to yesterday. I might even go as far as to say I watched the game as a neutral. I think I don't hate them this time around because I like their manager and there has not been the usual expectancy that they are going to win it. I am a bit disappointed because it is usually an element of the tournament I tend to really enjoy - The Germany game in S.A. was absolutely brilliant. Sheva
  6. I like that you can sub folk out during the game week. I just wish I hadn't subbed a guy who got 2 points instead of the guy who got 1. What an idiot.
  7. I just threw away 3 points on potentially stupid substitutions. I too had Akinfeev and was cursing Dick Advocaat. This is the problem with fantasy football, it skews your enjoyment of the game.
  8. I can't be arsed reading the rules. I take it that you select your starting 11 which you have to stick with throughout the first fixture for each team?
  9. It seems there is a problem with their website.
  10. My Bluebird supporting mate on Facebook: A very large part of my life died today. Fuck you Tan Sri Vincent Tan and Dato Chan Tien Ghee, simply how fucking dare you!!?? I honestly hope Cardiff City get relegated this season, and those two fuck off as far away from the club as soon as possible. I'd rather see City playing in blue playing in the Blue Square South, than in red with a fucking dragon on the shirt in the Premier fucking League.... Never felt so betrayed and disgusted in my fucking life. How fucking dare some fucking cunt mess with 104 years of history. Pardon my French people, buy I think on this occasion it's necessary. A little angry I'd say.
  11. Can anyone recommend a local garage to repair dents and scratches on my car?

    Your current read?

Recently I read: Hearts in Atlantis – Stephen King. This was loaned to me by my bird’s brother and his wife and came with high praise and “I defy you not to like this” ringing in my ears so I felt obliged to read it all. I’ve read some of King’s books before which I’ve enjoyed but generally I have no interest in the supernatural. This (massive) book started off ok and I was getting into the characters before people seemingly from another realm turned up and then I was just sitting there turning the pages muttering to myself. There are two novellas in the middle of the book where nothing supernatural happens but did nothing for me. Then it went back to time travel or some shit, I read the last page and then threw it against the wall. Shite. Skinny Dip – Carl Hiaasen. Satirical crime caper. Exactly like all his other books which is why I enjoyed it. To Kill a Mocking Bird – Harper Lee. I’d never read this before. I must have been in the Standard Grade class that did Sunset Song instead L I can see why it is considered a classic, because it was brilliant. I’ll read it again. I am now halfway through Absolute Friends by John Le Carre but I haven’t picked it up for a week and so now I can’t remember who all these people are.

    TV Series!!

Well, I'm a bit late to the party but I've started watching Frasier recently having previously discounted it as another one of those American sitcoms. Fantastic stuff. In other news, Treme Season 2 arrived through my letter box today so I'm not coming out this weekend.

    Pet Hates!

The use of the word professional in terms like "young professional" or "professional couple". I was reading a review of accommodation I was staying at recently and some cunt was bitching and moaning about the rudeness of the staff. She felt the need to point out that her and her travelling companion were both "young professionals", as if that would give weight to her opinion rather than just make her sound like a pretentious arsehole. Then I'm on the old FB tonight and my best friend from days gone by is advertising a flat for rent which would be ideal for a "professional couple". Honestly
  15. I got a copy as a gift (because I like reading and have an interest in war, oh I see the connection, erm, thanks). I once held it to pose for a photograph which I sent to all my English friends when Germany beat them in the World Cup, just for LOLs. I tried to read it but it is seriouisly fucking bananas. What are you saying Adolf? What? It's all over the place.
  16. Me and Nic are going to the Glasgow gig if you fancy it.
  17. Gary Neville has a weird slit in the middle of his forehead so I made this: http://twitpic.com/9fzh7r
  18. Fucking hell. Fitba in perspective again. http://uk.eurosport.yahoo.com/25042012/63/miller-mourns-wife.htm (I'll reserve my pet hate of text shorthand and exclamation marks used in serious messages for the appropriate thread)
  19. One of my favourite fixtures of the season is the nothing-to-play-for bottom 6 clash between The Dons and ICT so I think Brown should be given a 20 year contract.

Come round to my library some time and I'll sort you oot (although my favourites are all out on loan at the moment). You could take that petroleum economics one round for me.. IN CASE I RUN OUT OF BOG ROLL
  21. As well as his work with The Band his post cancer solo albums - Electric Dirt and Poor Dirt Farmer - are also top quality. One of the most distinctive voices I've heard. He also did some decent acting and was just an all round gent.

    TV Series!!

I've been watching this and have drifted in and out of interest. Budget Le Carre in terms of the characters and story line but I think Danes and Lewis are really good in it. I thought the scene on the cabin porch a few weeks ago was some of the best TV I've seen.
