  1. We had a small wedding in February at Marischal College and dinner for 50 at 1906 Restaurant. All went very smoothly. 1906 did the restaurant up bonny and the food and service were amazing. Graham Knight was our chaffeur on the day too just to make it the best wedding ever. Other than turning up I made 3 ipod playlists for various stages of the day which was very stressful. We're having the reception next month at the Forum, The Deportees are playing. I might actually become a wedding planner.

Well, for all the things that are getting worse at least some things are getting better. One girl came out at the my school but she's now married to a man.

We should just give it them back and be on our way.

You can make as many mistakes as you like with the English language but once you start fucking with French I'll be en your case.

Another one from a few months back: When you're on a plane and the person in front of you puts their seat back, creating more space for themselves by taking space away from you, without acknowledging your existence. One minute I'm enjoying Captain Phillips, the next Tom Hanks is squashed against my face. I'm astounded there aren't more air rage incidents on long flights.

At least five times in the past month I've seen people write that they are on route to some place. I suppose this is how language evolves but I don't much care for this transitional phase when it is still wrong.
  10. Stylistically, this is the sort of thing I gravitate towards. I fucking love The Deportees. I want albums, T shirts, action figures, the lot.
  11. You must have disregarded this thread 7 years ago then jester1470... http://www.aberdeen-music.com/topic/28188-bruce-springsteen-appreciation-thread/?hl=+springsteen?st=0 I think Kirk and I became friends through this thread. Aww, it's like looking back in time at the first date with your now wife. One thing that I think has changed between now and then is how the Boss is viewed in the UK. The opening of the previous thread started "One of the most uncool musicians to admit to liking" which I think at the time was fairly accurate. Now it's all like "who doesn't like Springsteen"? "Ballad of Tom Joad" = "The Ghost of Tom Joad". You're thinking of Cerys Matthews and the boy fae Space's song aboot Tom Jones... I don't doubt I'll be back here.

    2013/2014 Season

    Terrible stuff. Moyesy, poor fella.
  13. I'm so fucking cool/uncool (delete as appropriate) that I had to Google 'Hollister'.
  14. I listened to it before reading the comments and also thought immediately of Barney Gumble. I like it.
  15. Sad news. Didn't know him personally. Turning 13 were great.
  16. Who: Jan Where: The junction of Skene Street and Rosemount Viaduct at approx 3pm yesterday Doing: Listening to premiership-footballer-style big headphones.
  17. Of my favourite bands: The Boss (x5, x2 with Clarence) Neil Young Fugazi Rage Against the Machine Eels Ben Folds Manu Chao Nada Surf Bad Religion The National Stiff Little Fingers Others I'm not too fussed about but not bad for this list: The Who (post-Entwhistle) Brian Wilson Them Crooked Vultures (Grohl on drums!) Maiden (touring some new album I had no interest in which they played in its entirety) The one that got away: I got into Warren Zevon after his death in 2003 so never got the chance to see him.
  18. Since I got my reasonable quality separates system, the Amazon app on my phone, an Uncut subscription and stopped smoking I buy records and CDs like there is no tomorrow. I'm living the dream Gladstone had (I have no kids). I think there are two cardboard boxes of CDs out at my mother in law's and the house is still pretty full so it is a bit ridiculous. I buy albums by bands that I've never even heard. I used to exercise a fantasy that I came into some amount of money and could just go into a record store and buy anything I want. Now I'm a grown up I am that man.
  19. I am watching "The League" at the moment. It's quite funny if you fancy something light and stupid. I've also watched House of Cards, the first 2 seasons of Dexter, 3 seasons of Nurse Jackie. I would recommend all these things. I haven't watched normal telly since I got a Playstation.
  20. Good thread. I generally operate a 'one strike and you're hidden' policy. I keep a few bores and idiots on just to make myself feel better and have someone to pour scorn on. My friend's wife is terrible - one of those who has regular updates about how people shouldn't moan, shouldn't post mundane things etc. O would some power the giftie gie us tae see ourselves as others see us. I did once see a shared photograph of someone holding a bit of paper on which was printed some nonsense about benefits given to asylum seekers. There were lots of insanely stupid comments written underneath it. It was a photo of a bit of paper and what was said on it wasn't true. A little part of me died that day. That said, I don't think I even know many people who would come out with some of the stuff in this thread. Y'all should have grown up in Banchory. You'd get folk quoting Burns and a'hin.
  21. The Band - Live at the Academy of Music 1971 10/10 (so far) It's just been released with additional discs and a booklet and DVD etc. I've only listened to disc 1 so far but have done so twice because it's so jaw droppingly wonderful. I can't wait to get home and continue my listening pleasure. I haven't felt like this for years. Ultimate music.
