Wedding list/money requests - hate it. As has been noted the tradition springs from when couples were moving from their parents homes into their marital homes and needed help getting off their feet. That is rarely the case anymore. I appreciate that weddings are expensive for the couple and money donations will help but they don't have to be expensive if you can't fucking afford it. I suspect the up-in-arms-ness relates to the fact that we rarely play the 4-1-4-1 well. It's good in theory.
