  1. Thought the Mitchell and Webb show was average. Has there ever been a consistently funny sketch show? Extras remains terrific, but Ashley Jensen continues to be the absolute highlight, for me. AKM
  2. Book of Mormon is a strange one, no arguing with that! Thing is, if you take it as the word of God, then you accept it all. It's not logically acceptable to say "this is the divine word of God...but we only endorse the bits we like". Have you read the whole Bible? AKM
  3. Which beliefs do you find incredibly offensive? AKM
  4. The bit with Gary the No Trash Cougar was also funny. AKM
  5. Seconded, gladly! There's a Go! Team track that I can't remember the name of, think they generally close their live set with it? cheers me up, anyhow. AKM
  6. I have 6 of those albums. Good list. wig
  7. Everybody's Rockin' just kidding AKM
  8. I think that's pretty cool. if a bit long. AKM
  9. Glynn to win. Everything he says is either a) true or b) funny. And there's nothing remotely hate-able about him. AKM
  10. It's entirely obvious that Michael Moore presents one-sided, cleverly edited arguments in his books and films. Propaganda, yes. It's also entirely obvious that he doesn't *lie* (unless someone would like to present some deliberate factual inaccuracies from any of his films or books?) AKM
  11. People who dislike Michael Moore feel compelled to call him "fat". Pretty l33t observational skills, right there. Next up: how he is a "self-promoter" and "hates America". Yawn. I'm glad he and his films exist, that's about it. AKM
  12. I resent bands who pretend to be actually leaving. Worst offender; Nick Cave, who went offstage after an hour of their Glasgow Academy set, saying "goodnight, thanks very much, etc". Only to subsequently return for a further hour of music. What's the point in that? It was a brilliant gig though. AKM
  13. Any REAL Vic and Bob fans would have seen all these already. Pshaw, pshaw. "I've given birth to an ape..." AKM
  14. Love Story is the worst film I've ever seen. It had no redeeming qualities whatsoever. Likewise Titanic, apart from the cool "ship-sinking" FX. AKM
  15. The next best thing to a new 'Head record! I'm expecting it'll suffer from lack of Jonny. But has a high chance of being great anyway. AKM
  16. How depressing that channel 4's desperation for viewers means that, once again, we're subjected to two astonishingly stereotyped and irksome gay men. A flapping, mincing, squealing Glaswegian, and a slimy, buff, self-professed "sexual terrorist". Awful. In the interests of balance, the only contestants I considered remotely likeable, thus far, were Glynn and Dawn. AKM

    New Q

I prefer Uncut to Mojo. Mojo is a bit too "old man" for me, invariably focusing on the Kinks/the Jam/the Pistols/Dylan in a "things were better in my day, young feller" kind of way. AKM

    New Q

Q magazine is getting worser and worser. Two examples from latest edition: Dirty Pretty Things as "Ones to watch", i.e. an up and coming new band to look out for. I think most other media sources picked up on this, what, 3 months ago? New Chili Peppers album gets 5 stars. I haven't even heard it yet, and I know it's not a 5-star album. AKM
  19. I find myself in agreement with a lot of what the original poster says. I reckon a lot of the angst and sorrow in modern music is based on expectations rather than experience, i.e. people write according to their genre rather than any real observation or experience. I agree with this too. But having said that, I find nothing more tedious than lyrics like "I had a fag, I went clubbing, then I had a cup of tea and went to bed". Are there no lyricists left who deal with bigger issues and greater themes, with intellect and incision? AKM
  20. If someone has waited an hour and a half to meet you, it's nice to at least acknowledge that, and how much effort does it take to sign a few autographs? but more importantly, Life without buildings are shit. AKM
  21. The album is Not Really That Good. The singles are far and away the best tracks on it. Not that I dislike them, just found the album a tad disappointing. AKM
  22. Billy Jimmy Melissa David Pajo THAT I would pay to see. AKM
  23. I don't think I'd ever agree to see it unless someone paid me a substantial amount of money to do so. AKM
  24. It was outrageously good. Packed with highlights. I wasn't sure how well BpB would dovetail with the folk band, but they sounded made for each other. Loved it. Even though he didn't do "Nomadic Reverie". AKM
  25. I have two points to make: 1. In this situation, what is the point of having a helicopter overhead? How is a helicopter supposed to spot one particular small boy, even if he happened to be out on the street? 2. Didn't we all just know there would be a "Tracy" involved?
