Well done, Alan, sounds like a great trip. I'd forgotten about Bridget, must get some of her stuff again... I'd say more, but jealousy's an ugly thing, and I'd probably let myself down, so leave it at that!
Aye, it's all very well sending boy bands and rappers to rogue barley in dufftown, but what if they decide that they don't like baldy old gits with a taste for reggae, country music and Captain Beefheart? And I'm not really joking.
Don't worry, it'll never get built; once everyone important has had their backhanders, they'll leave the lawyers to sweep up the dregs and it'll all be quietly forgotten. We'll be still sitting in the queues, because to get a house we can afford we have to live miles outside Aberdeen. B.A.N.A.N.A.
Thoughtful, and obviously deeply felt, obituary by Robert Wyatt in this months' Mojo. Also didn't know Elton Dean had died; for some reason I feel strangely abandoned at the moment. Mortality wagging her finger at me...
Ahem, anyway, Gong. Anybody remember the posters Virgin gave away with the album artwork on one side and the mail-order album list on the the other? In 3 point type! I'm sure that's why I wear glasses now, nothing at all to do with mums clubby book.
I was there! They played in the cafeteria on the ground floor. Post Wyatt, unfortunately, but there I was, nodding and grooving, long hair, centre-parting, wispy beard a-gogo... Bliddy Hippies.
Not a lot of fans on this forum, then. Pity, he had a very individual sound. I only heard a little of his work on Andy Kershaw's show, but it always made me smile.
