  1. If you don't know how to do it safely, and the implication is that you don't if you're asking on a music forum, I would recommend not fucking around with 240 volts a.c. In the wrong place, it can ruin your day very effectively. The only sure way to fix thecable is to shorten it as suggested, or replace it. If you're not sure even how to wire the plug up, I would suggest forking out for some professional help. Or a new mower, which may be cheaper! Jim.
  2. Just how I like my heroes - complex, brilliant, flawed, always challenging, but at the same time, I prefer them alive, I'm with Alan on this - too young.
  3. With Alan on this one; Tullynessle, Alford, Aberdeenshire, etc. etc. (This written on the covers of jotters with juvenile smugness, of course)
  4. Did naeb'dy play the chime bar? (I wint the C, it's on a' the time...) Then the recorder. Doonhill since that.
  5. Eerins for Grunny, messages for Mam. That's nae ethnic is it?
  6. None in Turriff yet, but here's hoping - apparently they've had a good breeding season in Europe, so they've eaten everything there and migrated early to scoff all our berries. Lovely birds, though, and cracking photos too.
  7. Always liked 'Tonto's Expanding Headband' and 'Wigwam'
  8. Good to see as many of us as possible there - I've got no excuse, only live about a mile and a half down the road - completely forgot about the December gig!
  9. The puns seem to have stalled; thought it might have gone farrier, bit they seem to have been reined in - it's a cinch that Alan whinny be able to restrain himself from saddling us with mare. (sorry for the repeats..)
  10. Quit stallion, ye're makin' that up on the hoof - shoerly ye've got some mare? Sorry.
  11. You speak truth, friend; and so my next project was an electric with a blockboard body shaped like an edging spade, homebrew pickups, 12 W amp from an old radiogram with a 2.5mV input valve preamp built from a tape recorder circuit, RRROOOOOCKKK! o_O (Tended to feed back a little....)
  12. True; but thirty-five years ago I did exactly this to a guitar, and turned an admittedly average, but still useable, musical instrument into kindlers....
  13. If it's a playable guitar, leave it alone and play it, or give it to someone who might want to learn to play, then buy an electric guitar. Hacking lumps out of it to fit pickups will merely bollocks it up. If you have to amplify it, try a piezo pickup. Duct tape? Strike me pink. o_O
