  4. 14 days left Dear Music lovers A final post regarding the appearance of Martin Stephenson at Forglen Hall Turriff on the 16th July 2010. Can anyone intersted in attending please contact me ASAP as I would like to know approximately how many people will be coming along.? cheers RSK
  5. Yaaaay Yes - you know what? I would really like to attend this gig because (a) It is totally different from my usual haunts (variety etc etc) (b) It is not be World Cup orientated © It is someting that will give memories that last a lifetime (d) The caring side of me wants to support a local Community Hall because sometimes we are so caught up in supporting other causes that we forget that we in Scotland have cultures that need support...... (e) I get to see an icon of the last 3 decades whos songwriting and musicianship have left audiences around the world amazed.
  6. FORGLEN HALL Nr TURRIFF 16th JULY 2010 SUMMER GIG following a blinding performance in December 2009 8.00 / 6.50 (concessions) Tel 07786265619 for details
  7. Last chance to show that apathy has not killed live music. A great talent is booked to appear at Forglen Hall Turriff on the 5th December 2009 at 8.00 pm but this will be cancelled on Sunday 29th November 2009 unless sufficient interest is forthcoming. I am not a promoter but an individual who appreciates both talent and the drive to support the upkeep of local community halls...... In summary Forglen Hall is a community facility run by dedicated "Friends of Forglen Hall" and takes us back to the times when live entertainment took precedence over the juke box in the corner of a public bar. (I'm not knocking the latter - only suggesting that other options are available) Forglen typifies the type of venue that has been lost so many times in Scotland due to general lack of support for something that once gone is truely "gone". This event seeks to reinforce the facilities presence with the appearance of one of this gnerations greatest song writing talents Martin Stephenson. For those unfamiliar with Martins career it would be worthwhile visiting his "myspace" site and "youtube" offers some tantilising footage of the great man in action. Thank you for your interest

  10. Trumpet Trumpet - check Mo'town - check Previous band playing similar stuff - check What would be the intended location for rehersal?
  11. what is the age range of your set up ? I am a Trumpet player with previous R&B/covers band but ehm... mature
  12. Horns etc Re your ad I was the original trumpet player in "Lights out by Nine" from Fife and have been thinking about getting back in to regular playing again. (I am an immature 44 year old with a wife and 2 kids and any excuse to justify caning a couple of grand on a bach strad or similar is welcome) I have some studio experience and listening to your MP3s see a horn section blending in there something along the lines of Robert Cray "Don't be afraid of the dark" Vibe. There are quite a few band doing Blues Brothers type arrangements which I find overworked as a genre. A good friend of mine is Mel Ross from Lazy Poker from Dundee and since he started telling me about the thriving blues scene in East Scotland I have become ever so slightly jealous. I am a consultant in the construction industry but could manage the occasional trip here and there. Cheers Ken Shorten Turriff 07786 265619
