  1. some streamers on the handle bars and that would be the bomb! i might get back to you if nothing else turns up!
  2. I'm after a cheap bike, after my own very old cheap bike is finally fit for the scrap heap. I use it for commuting from train station to Tullos during the week and keep it in the Multi-story on college street so dont want anything worth stealing or that I'll be concerned about leaving out in the elements. I'm looking for anything with the following: an un-ripped seat, Straight wheels, un-broken cranks, 5 working gears, bearings with all their balls, not too big a frame for a 5'8 short arse like myself. ta
  3. Only other components place I have used is this www1.conrad-uk.com/ I think its a german based company though.
  4. Laney GH100L, you'll get a second hand one for about 300. Great amps with great tone but a small price as most folks think all laneys are like the ones in Captain Toms. Don't get the matching laney cab though, they arn't so good.
  5. Where about do you get your parts from? I've used a mix of All Parts, Hotrox and Maplin. I'm also waiting on new transformers in the post! I was looking for some >100watt transformers for my high power amp but was struggling to find something in the UK.
  6. I've built a Marshall 18watt clone from an Amp Maker kit. This guy is a great help and is a great source of parts and advice. I built the kit several years ago and a friend built his SE-5a amp and has went to to mod it quite a bit. There're great sounding amps like. You get really good instuctions plus you can fire the guy lots of daft questions and he'll help out. I'm currently in the process of turning the 18watter into more of a bass amp and fitting a master volume. Once I get the tone I want I'm going to try and get the noise ceiling right down and then build a high wattage power amp for it to drive. I think the hardest thing with homemade stuff is getting rid of hum and noise. Good luck with your build! I'll be looking out for the blog!
  7. I've got your old Peavey Combo 300, recently brought back from the dead, got to be worth a straight swap for the MM
  8. best thing for getting off permanent marker is another permanent marker and some kitchen roll. if you go over the mark in small bits with the marker and then wipe it off straight away you should be able to get it in clean. the new ink wets the old stuff for a second before it drys again, gives you a second to wipe it off. sorted.
  9. I've shipped guitars before with no problems, just in double or tripple cardboard and bubble wrap. Got a guitar shipped from Ukraine packaged the same with no issues. I've also moved some fairly hefty cars parts with no issues, the biggest was a complete engine. Courier Services - UK Delivery Service Companies can get you some good deals on couriers but I usually just use cheapest on interparcel.com. I've had no problems from UPS, Parcel force, Hermes or DHL. You have to package stuff well though, its just a parcel to the driver/depo/other driver/other depo/posty they have millions to deal with, they wont give a fuck if its fragile valve amp that's not been package well. Amps are generally heavy so are probably going at the bottom of the pile in the van, there's going to be stuff stacked on top of them as noone's going to drive a van with one parcel in it.
  10. I used to know a lass who worked there for a week maybe, she was a complete mental. good times. Still never mind, apparently it's the end of the world tomorrow!
  11. just for you: heid: and the stack: I've no decent pic's of the bass i'm afraid!
  12. you might find someone who does custom bike paint jobs can help you out. I can't help with any names unfortunately. I could help you out if you want a custom denim finish, I've done a bass, amp head and cab in it
  13. Far more likely that the council's pay someone as the full time "lighting control officer", his job is to switch the lights on when it gets dark, off when it is light. He does nothing but this. Off course he gets double time for working saturday and sunday, plus in the summer time he has to stay back on overtime (time and a half) to wait for darkness and get in early too. Winter time's not so good as he doesn't get any overtime as all the switching is done between his normal 9 to 5 hours. Council's do employ people who's sole job is to go around and check that streeet lights do work, they are not to repair them, just check which ones don't work and report to maintenance.
  14. I did my B+E car and trailer as an intensive 3 day blast, it was pretty heavy going. I passed but had a few years driving experience and as many pulling trailers. I was completely shot afterwards! Its ok if you can loose bad habits after a couple of tellings and pick up new stuff quickly. I did 300miles in Aberdeen 3 days and had to refit my exhaust manifold the morning of my test!
  15. nice work! all the shite your told about job interviews is generally pish, i got my current job based on the good words of my references so I was told. I later spoke to one of them who said he was called up while on the bus back from the football, he was absolutely steaming on a bus full of steaming football fans!
  16. you need one! My gear: Peavey bass monster 300 - died at sound check in the lemon tree when it was to be used for all 3 bands Burns Bison bat bass - lost its neck at the end of the same set after a bass juggling accident! What a penis!!
  17. alot of people ad the "sold as seen" statments to their ads, don't know how legally binding it is but could avoid these tossers in the future if the item turns up in perfect undamaged packaging.
  18. thats usually the upper body horn sticking in your belly (must be a joke in there some where), not wierd, your just fat!
  19. These items no longer available! ta muchly
  20. jeezo, people will be cutting the calories from the food they eat next. o_O
  21. cyclist are too fit these days, if they were all like me they'd be stopping at every red light to get their breath back! today's pet hate: people getting on the bus and deciding to stand right at the door when, 1. there are a number of single seats available just they dont want to sit next to someone and 2. there is a proper standing area further up the bus, not right in the boodly door! /radge
  22. For Sale: Laney GH100L amp head. This is an all valve single channel amp with foot switchable additional gain stage. New Electro Harmonix EL34 power amp valves fitted and the bias set last summer. Pre amp valves are Electro Harmonix 12AX7's, these were fitted 2 years ago. You can also rebias and fit 5881/6L6 power amp valves for some different tone options. Accepts 1x4ohm, 1x8 ohm, 1x16ohm, 2x8 ohm or 2x16ohm speaker cabs. Laney Amplification | Products | gh100l Some scuffs and marks on the external tolex/corner protectors. Amp is about 15years old. It has been used for gigs but is sounding excellent after the service last year. This is a very loud amp, sounds really clear at high volumes. I'm looking for 300 for this beast. A great amp for pedal users as you can set the amp to clean at high volumes and let your pedal do the distortion. No footswitch included as I don't have one, it works with the normal Marshal switches though. Also for sale is a 1970/80ish Marshall 4x12, once property of a Mr Ian A. Edward in 02/05/1974 if the biro scrawl on the interior is to be believed. This cab is fitted with two G12M-70's and two G12K-85's. The 70's are dated to 1982 and the 85's to 1986, thats as accurate a date I can give. One of the 70's has a tear in it. I've never noticed any adverse noise coming out of the speaker at low or high volumes. Tolex has some minor good bits but is mostly in poor condition. The grill cloth, badge, piping and corner protectors are all new items as were missing when I purchased. The base has been attacked with tacks and is a mess, don't look at it please. Wired for 16ohms. Overall this cab is rubber ducked but still sounds great, I run an 18watt clone and the Laney through it and it really sings. It's done some miles and played some shows but still sounds really good. I'm open to offers for the cab. Selling both items as I have no space or use for them anymore. Kinda gutted on selling the cab though as its immensly ace! Pics to follow.
  23. I'd buy the old amedeus night club down at the beach [/cool1]
