  1. Yeah, totally. But it's different to recreate the sound or feel from any recording session in a live environment. how many bands have you seen that sound totally live live than on record? I think a variety of tempos and styles can work really well in a gig giving it variety and the chance to take a breather and take it all in.
  2. CS3 rocks. been using it all morning. Got the "extended" version which is a photographers dream! The 3 - D stuff looks worthy. You can can export video to Flash - one of the benefits of Adobe taking over Macromedia I suppose. The clone tool is far more intuative. Only scratched the surface but it looks all good. I cringe when I think back at all the time I wasted before using layer and quick masks!
  3. The Beatles White Album has everything and the kitchen sink in it from gentle ballads through sheer pop, experiments in noise and weird structures to the beginnings of heavy rock. And it's America's favourite Beatles album! Doesn't matter if the songs themselves are radically different - if they all have a similar "feel" to them - recorded on the same equipment over a small period of time and mastered / produced or whatever by the same person they will be coherent enough. I think getting an overall "sound" is important. London Calling is a sprawling album but every song be it rockabilly, reggae or rock n roll sounds like it came from those sessions. They stick together well because of the "vibe" and the production Good luck.
  4. "A blizzard of shit!" I get the feeling i'm going to have to coin that phrase in the future! Quality min.
  5. Amazing band, Certain Death. The first time I saw them at Drakes was definitely one of the best things I saw at the Doc's. Wouldn't ever compare them to Capdown though!! They're nae ska! But lovely stuff nontheless.
  6. I charge mine when it begins to head down to the final green bar - just before it turns red. Never ever let it go so far that it cuts out. Not sure what model you have but my 60gb (1 year old) gives 15 hours of music before I charge it. A 4 hour charge is all it takes. I get it off the charge as soon as poss after it says "charged." Mine plays fine when it is charging too. If you turn off the click wheel and backlight your battery life will improve vastly. How long do you listen to it at work??

    Dons for Europa?

Bottled it again. It only took a matter of seconds yesterday, though. Worst i've seen Michael Hart play for Aberdeen. We should sign the lad who was running rings around him. Brewster was laughably crap throughout and should have been sent off for sticking the heid into someone. "He's there for his vast experience and guys like Maguire can learn from him" - Calderwood. I hope young Chris had his eyes closed for the 70 minutes or so "Special Brew" was on the park. I never saw him holding the ball up either. Chris Clark was anonymous in the middle of the park, but that's Jimmy's decision so it's nae his fault. Foster played shite apart from one of the best runs we've had all season - what a great move - it was one of those where the slightest touch was going to get a penalty. Good on Mackie for stepping up. Seve needs to take a long hard look at himself. Strutting about the park again like he's above everyone and not tackling. The accusing looks when he misses a pass are also getting annoying. But not half as much as him insisting on taking every fucking throw - in. Considine for Diamond never turned into a disaster but why did he come off? I'm so glad the majority booed Jimmy when he came off. The 3 at the back decision backfired so badly - we were only 1 goal down at half time and could have easily come back into it had we got it on the deck and stopped hoofing it down the middle. Wilkie never lost a header all day but couldnae catch a bus had we played it wide. Width, width, width! We had none all day - no wonder we did so badly! The only relief from what was otherwise a shocking day was the United fans singing "Hello, Hello." What a laugh! We have bottled every opportunity we've been given under Calderwood - every league and Scottish cup tie and missing third spot a couple of seasons ago. Remember Hearts get the old firm out of the way quicly in the split and Kilmarnock will be looking for revenge against us. I hope we haven't blown it.
  8. I think this will be about my 50th! Dangerfuckinfields rock n roll!
  9. Yeah - definitely their best single since The Massess Against the Classes for me. Been listening to it for a few days. Nina's voice fits in brilliantly. It's got a bit of a glam stomp and the trademark guitar sound. Even Wire's backing vocals seem to fit and aren't as horrendous as "the solo album." And the new album track "Underdogs" is superb too. Jimmy Dean looks like he did ten years ago - a new man! I hope the Manics as we used to know them are back.
  10. This looks fuckin' amazing!
  11. Tell me about it. We have so many temps working here that simply don't give a fuck. Folk like me who actually care get really pissed off at the lack of effort and amount of passing the buckage. No wonder the Cooncil has such a bad rep. The problem is it wears most folk down slowly and the realisation that most employees get no thanks for their efforts and inferior pay compared to the private sector means they develop this don't give a shit attitude which is passed on to the public, which is a terrible state of affairs for a local authority to be in. In all honesty in my section generally speaking we never fuck up our jobs, never go over budget thus save the Council money and actually listen to what people need. That's why we get absolutely no thanks and are shunned by the top brass. Hopefully my section can get the breakaway we all want to get away from the disaster zone that is St. Nicholas House and get invloved with a private company. Never mind, I'm a happy bunny so sod the rest of them if that's their attitude!
  12. I'm not sticking up for the Cooncil - quite the opposite. I just don't want to be associated with the percentage of the workforce who are incapable twats. It's bad enough getting anything done over the phone as a punter. You should try working in the place. The place is ran by idots nowadays. I never implied the Cooncil was a fantastic, organised 100% trouble and fuck - up free zone. Because it certainly isn't. But I don't lie or guess or decieve. I know what it's like to have it done to yourself. So I wasn't born on 30th of February between 4.00 and 4.05 am neither to blame for repairs which should have been done in the sixties that have never been done. I was only trying to establish what the facts were. In all honesty, I can't be arsed now. No matter - on holiday till Tuesday now. One good thing about working at the Cooncil - the holidays
  13. Really. Does that include me, then?
  14. I'll go down to Housing Repairs the morn and find out what I can. I know a few of the folk from there. I believe each case is taken on an individual basis, but I don't like giving advice on something I'm not 100% sure on.
  15. You guessed right. I just wanted to check. I work for the Council, you see and you don't guess anything. You always ask if someone is a tenant first. The original post didn't black or white say if he was a tenant so that's why I asked.
  16. Are you a tenant or do you own the flat?
  17. There's a Ryan France plays for Hull City I think - maybe KirkT could confirm!
  18. Little Frank could emerge from a real suitcase as a prop! Hit the north!
  19. I stumbled upon them! It goes like this - I'm an avid watcher of Frank Sidebottom's Proper Telly Show (don't ask) so was waiting for it to come on and it had a Manchester new band showcase (it may have been from where the photos on the MySpace are taken) and I remember thinking to myself "nae really my thing, but they're spot on at what they do." I also remember thinking the big bearded bass player looked well out of place compared to the others with their indie cuts and boyish good looks!!!! So they're called Suitcase! Best of luck to them - they remind me of the stuff I listened to when I first got into music at the beginnings of Britpop. I'm sure a fair amount of Aberdeen gig - goers would be interested to see them. I work with a guy from Salford and in his own words "I'm bang into this."
  20. Purple zig zags are purple zig zags. This monstrosoty bastardises the saltire. The saltire is a white cross on a navy blue background. Nae a light blue cross on a white background. It's sacrilege and therefore the worst strip ever.
  21. It's always a scream when folk comment on Miller's "work rate" and "team play" compared with Boyd's "lazy attitude" and lack of "team play." Where did Millers hard work get us last night? It means nothing. Nothing at all. I'd far rather have someone poaching in front of goal getting support from the wings. Boyd does this effectively. Simple fact is that Kenny Miller could have ran over every blade of grass last night till midnight and still wouldn't have had a chance in hell of getting past Matterazi and Cannavaro. He was back defending for periods last night for fuck's sake. What's the point in playing fitba if your only centre forward is defending? How are you going to score? I think the decision to play a lone Kenny Miller contributed to the fact Italy never broke a sweat last night. I don't have any personal beef with Miller it's just that he always seems to run about like a headless chicken and his first touch does let him down badly at times. He's almost like an enhanced Darren Mackie at times. The fact that McLeish decided to play two of the most woeful Scottish players around on the wings never helped the situation. Teale is just atrocious full stop and McCulloch has no pace and despite being touted as a "physical presence" failed to win anything and just gave away needless fouls which the Italians were all set to dive to at every time. At least with Boyd you have a lazy poacher who will not track back and always be in a goal scoring situation. Miller, despite being our only STRIKER on the pitch was pulled backwards, forwards and out to the wings. When your only striker is doing all that who is there to put the ball in the back o the net? Argh - it's so frustrating! Personally I don't agree with one up front - it rarely works and only will if you get quality service from the wide areas. Something we were sorely lacking. Surprises me to say it, but we did miss McFadden's creativity and ability to run at defenders. I could go into a rant about how simply shocking it is that McNamara, a man who has played little football this season and officialy "retired" from international football and Christian Dailly, who has made sparodic sub appearances for West Ham can find themselves in the sqaud while players who have performed at a high level week in week out are shunned. But what's the point? Scotland's as much of an old pal's act nowadys as Jimmy C is at Pittodrie. Anderson should give up trying - what's the point? I heard today that he is nae happy at all and I can't blame him. Other players like Hutton, Burke, Hart and Naismith deserve a place in the squad but won't have a chance. Weir was totally found out for the second goal - how can he still get a game???!!! And as much as it pains me to say it Ferguson was the best outfield player in a white shirt. Worst strip ever, by the way. But as far as MOTM awards go I would have given it to Gordon for his two fine saves keeping the score respectable. Scotland never fail to let themsleves down with this defensive shite. And I still think the starting 11 could be much better. Would rather have been solidliy beaten and had a go at Italy than going out with a whimper having one weak shot at goal all 90 minutes.
  22. Karloff are supporting. Wednesday 13 will be schlock rock tastic.

Not as much as he enjoyed Aberdeen.

He's not that bad. I can think of worse. And he'll be back soon to keep all his "followers" amused. If some of the wasters in our squad showed the same comittment as Richie we would be sitting proudly in second place in the league at the moment. Of course. My vote for worst signing ever. That still gives me nightmares to this day.

A true class player. "Bastard" is well out of order After a more than promising start to his Aberdeen career he was crippled by injury. People always forget that when he first came here he was a revelation. It was only because he suffered a cruciate injury he ended his career at Plymouth and St Johnstone. Fair comment if he had cost a million and was just a shite player but at the time he was a great signing. Injuries just ruined him.
