  1. I've got this mental picture of Graham Norton shredding a ten string bass solo now while Julian Clairy looks on approvingly, awaiting his turn.
  2. Alan, I've uploaded what i could find this morning into my gallery. Sorry for my lazyness but they're not titled or anything - mostly self explanatory anyway! I have more basement shots but the one I found shows the depth of the water anyway! Remember the roof was almost white originally! You can see how the steep staircases and narrow corridors would cause problems with todays regs. Enjoy.
  3. We'll see................ Craig? Up for a bit of Chinoage? I'll consult the Marks..........
  4. I almost fell in to the flooded basement in the process of taking photographs! The nicotine stains are evident everywhere - it's the old cliche of moving a picture and seeing the white underneath the object! Alan, you must have overheard one of my colleagues - it would indeed be a nightmare to bring the entire building up to code. DDA would be the killer in the main as in "the olden days" disabled access wasn't really an issue. It's really not going to happen in the near fututre but rather disturbingly I know I guy on the commitee to bring the Tivoli back so there's always hope. You should see the report we produced in favour of restoring it! It was intense. You guys seem keen enough so I'll dig out the photos tomorrow hopefully. Glad to hear others appreciate such an amazing building and such a big part of Aberdeen's history.
  5. ...........................Matt Freeman Saw him last week and he's up there with the best EVER!
  6. I've got a stack of Tivoli photos from a dilapidation survey I did when the Tivoli was being considered as an alternative for HMT while the refurb was taking place. If anyone would like a look at some let us know and I'll see about getting some of them up here. The original carvings on the roof are amazing - they were brilliant white but after years of abuse from bingo hall useage they are pure brown! The original Tivoli is a far superior building to the original HMT (not now, of course, he says being part of the Design Team ) It's just so sad that it can't get up and running again. It's not gonna be happening in the near future, unfortunately.
  7. I had outstanding seats and we were in the "£35" section - right in the corner, just above ring level looking diagonally on to the ring. I think it was block S1. Couldn't have been better. Holly was ace! I thought it was hilarious, although I was actually looking forward to seeing a wrestling match, but it was one stiff slam! The biggest of the night I thought! Heels can be faces in different parts of the world - I think Hardcore is one of those guys that is appreciated in Europe for his shoot style. I think he recognises this and doens't really push the heel thing too much. The 4 way was very good, but there were a fair few botches that slowed it down. I thought Test v Dreamer was a great match too. Look, the fact Sabu was in the arena was good enough for me! It wasn't all that bad. It needed tables, though! I loved Cryme Tyme. They'll go far. And Cade & Murdoch were like old school "baddies!" Brilliant. Piper was missed. that sucked he got injured. Flair is a legend but gay bashing is neither big nor clever. And I almost had to cover the bairns ears when Alexandro brought up sheep shaggers! DX are so professional. And Edge & Orton were hilarious - the four worked together really well. Hunter seemed to enjoy himself. I took photos but I'll need to flick through them and pick out some decent ones. Bit far away for a compact flash to handle I think, but I'll see what I've got. Knew I should have taken the SLR! I think it would have been a bit over the top. "Oh flower of Scotland" Oh dear!!!!!!!!!
  8. Just as well they did! This was ace! Sabu! Hardcore Holly Alabama Slamming Dupree nearly through the canvas! It's weird, though - when there's no commentary or titantron you just hear the mat and occasional grunts and groans - it's not too different from the Beach Ballroom.

    Pizza

Cheers guys for advice. I'm not quite sure how to take the fact that your recommending something that is ultimately shit, but I think i'll give Picolo a miss! I'm just looking for a good offer - It can be really expensive to get in a couple of pizzas and usually we have voucher or some sort of gubbins lying around, but there's nothing at the moment. Although i'm nae that desperate! I'll maybe give Papas a ring. Or get the bread out of the cupboard.........

    2006/2007 season thread

They did last night. Inverness Caledonian Thistle v Aberdeen
  13. Congratulations sir, you've just won a "post of the year" award!!!!!!
  14. It really is the worst film ever. Dan's right, it could have killed off all their careers before they'd even started. Never mind, they all went on to bigger and better things. Well Sandler did, anyway.............
  15. Can you go "sub" Artic Monkeys??? Clearly not my thing, then! But enjoy yourself, lads. Tunnels = great place for a bounce. Oxfam Glamour Models really sounds like a tragic MSP tribute act that only play Generation Terrorists era stuff, though.......
  16. Surely the two worst band names in all of the world! Never heard any of their stuff, though - what are they both like?????
  17. There was a floating red and black creature called Wordy who was in them all. There were loads of other animations in it, though. Education was never more fun than Look & Read! http://www.lookandread.myby.co.uk/index.shtml
  18. Bravestarr. Eys of the Hawk Ears of the Wolf Speed of the Puma Strength of the Bear http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/BraveStarr My fave and my nickname at school. incredibledisc - you are a genius. I would cry real, real tears if I could watch just one more episode of the Adventure Game. I am instantly transformed back to our first house, sitting with my sister on the setee, eagerly awaiting it to come on. The Red Salamander! All the characters were anagrams of dragon! Very primitive useage of special effects! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Adventure_Game Look & Read - school programme but nevertheless absolutley amazing. SpaceBoy had us cowering in the corner of the classroom. As did Dark Towers. Anyone else? Anyone also remeber Puddle Lane? I remember it was shown on a Thursday lunchtime as I saw it when I went home from school. There are so many - I rememebr there used to be a cracking site called "Watched It!" I used to go on every lunchtime when I worked for RGU about 6 years but it seems to have dissapeared. It had EVERY 80's show on it.
  19. Of course. Seems like we're beyond reasonable conversation now, so i'm bailing.
  20. The first version of that post was way, way, better. Hey, it was you that said everything I quoted. It's not as if i've cut up what you said and taken it out of context. It's easier to digest things when they are broken up............ In this whole thread, I have never once posted an "OPINION" about the Beatles and how their songs or albums are better or preferable to anyone elses, okay? Utter garbage. Show me where I have said that. I have mearly stated that they, along with their producer and team of engineers changed music as we know it. It's frankly getting boring and you're clearly not listening. There was also the sitar argument, in which I believed the beatles were first to use a particular instrument, but at no time have I said "the Beatles make better music than anyone else." It was you that brought up Jim fucking Morrison.
  21. Like you say, your take. but no less hilarious for it. The Doors. Exciting? I mean the fucking DOORS........... Like you say, your take, but I'm if you are implying through your somewhat jumbled up thinking that they "trundled on with ever diminishing returns" after Revolver, the public and music critics accross the entire world have obviosuly been completley fooled by Sgt Pepper, The Beatles, Abbey Road and Let it Be. Yellow Submarine was somewhat throwaway, but by no means "trundling on." Like you say, your take, but Ob La Di Ob La Dah is liked by some in "their take" as is "the Octopus' Garden." (sic.) Somewhat contradictory. Like you say, your take. I think the Doors entire back catalogue is more annoying than a trip to the dentists for major surgery. But that's my take. Why bring it up? Again, contradictory. I for one have certainly never said once in this thread that everything the Beatles recorded was genius. For the record, I'm not too keen on any of their first three abums. I still stand by the fact that the Beatles and their team shaped music today as we know it. Come on baby, light my fire
  22. Voy! And surely you can't leave out the Dust Junkys!
  23. How was it then? My only consolation is the fitba was out of this world!
