  1. I've always prided myself on having a wide range of musical taste, but when I was a teenager I used to have a blind spot for country stuff. Now, however, I love Townes Van Zandt, Gillian Welch, Charlemagne etc, and have, over the years come to appreciate Hank Williams, the Carter Family, Dock Boggs etc. Currently my blind spot is metal, but I'm fully prepared to come round to it before I die!! __________________________________________________________________________ Kitchen Cynics.........................................fans of George Formby, Flanagan & Allen etc..
  2. I first heard Linda Perhacs on Irene Trudel's show on WFMU.......I urge you to listen to her archives.....loads of brilliant folk, jazz etc (and even a bit of Kitchen Cynics now and again!). The session she has by the Espers is beautiful, and she's had Thomas Truax, Black Forest Black Sea etc etc on (plus she engineered some Jeff Buckley stuff.....a wonderful woman, in my opinion). _________________________________________________________________________ Kitchen Cynics.................................................drunk again, but happy!........................
  3. I think I fit into the really stoopid category!
  4. That's a 100 lines for you, Miss H....."I must not 'out' my cruel Art teacher on the Aberdeen Music Forum"!!!!!!!!!! __________________________________________________________________________ Kitchen Cynics.............................................producing crap since 82..........................
  5. I think Shawn 'n' Shaz's offspring should be called "Shazam Shithead". In the absence of Marlon Brando, can I be the Godfather? ________________________________________________________________________ Kitchen Cynics.....................................an offer you'll probably refuse.........................
  6. What's with all this stabbing and cutting......have you all joined Dayeth's pirate crew or something!!! Tell me, or I'll have a hissy fit and stamp my foot. _________________________________________________________________________ Kitchen Cynics...........vicious and muscle-bound (and that's just my teddy!)............,....

All three, I'd say, although you could add "lack of money" to the list! My stuff is often referred to as Lo-Fi, but, despite my posts to the contrary, I'd be quite happy to go digital on a computer. What stops me is the fact I have a perfectly functional, although basic, portastudio, donated to me by Cavern Mike, and a lack of ready cash. I still think a hissy, raw-edged tape has a certain charm, though......probably an age thing (c86 and all that!). ______________________________________________________________________- Kitchen Cynics...............................................a laugh, a song and a zimmer frame.....
  8. Less of the pointed remarks!!!
  9. I just started playing live about a year ago, after home-recording for decades, and am still pretty nervous, but it DOES get a bit easier every time. The best advice I got was from Eric Euan......If you make a mistake don't stop and say "Fuck it!".......the audience probably won't be as aware of it as you are! Good luck!! ________________________________________________________________________ Kitchen Cynics.........................................shakin' all over..........................................
  10. Very pretty! And I did enjoy! Thank you .
  11. Well I had a great night, although I'm most upset at missing Spike Pile Driver (I got to chat with jakey, which was cool!). It was fab to speak briefly with ShaunF, and the wonerful Shaun the Ox, Philip, Jim, Sharon, Frosty Jack,Simon Gall Band, Lester Burnham, Cuts, etc etc I also got more than a lttle bit drunk, so apologies to everyone I upset, especially You Nazi......forgive an old, sad individual who should know better!!!! Now sober addition........I wasn't badly behaved last night....just loud and a bit boorish....sorry!...............................................................
  12. King Crimson "21st century schizoid man".....live versions, thanks to Philip!
  13. I'm looking forward to it already. Class.
  14. Apologies for looking scary though....in actual fact I was scared! _______________________________________________________________________ Kitchen Cynics.............................................Sonic pensioner....................................
  15. Contrary to rumours I'm not best mates with Sonic Youth, although I've had some drinks with them. I'd even post my "me and Kim" photo, but I'm not allowed attachments yet. I'lle-mail it to Philip, though. _______________________________________________________________________ Kitchen Cynics...........................................schmoozing with the stars.....................
  16. My only "good" guitar is a 64 Jazzmaster, so I suppose I should say Fender, but I LOVE old junky guitars, and my favourites are my Conrad violin bass, and my Watkins Rapier lead (5 from a boot sale a good few years ago). _______________________________________________________________________ Kitchen Cynics....................................old and junky...("y" not "ie" !!!).......................
  17. Tempted......very tempted!!!! Last time I saw them was Oct 2002, and they did a whole "Murray Street" set. It was great!
  18. Another fun night out.....Preemo was very affecting...nice melodies, lovely voice, (despite being ravaged by illness)....Red Man Walking were crazed in the best of all ways (I 've been practicing my "I am the General" salute!), and Nero were bucketloads of angular fun, plus they exploded an amp........excellent!!!!!!! Great venue.....great music.....great company.......drink.......what more could you ask for? *sighs contentedly*
  19. Sounds like a good idea to me!
  20. It's a long time since the draught in the hall it's many years since the glass on the wall bothered me. Last seen was the whore in me, oh but I adore the strangeness you see. ("So strange is man" by Lal Waterson)
  21. "On Summer Day" by Roy Harper..... on the first pressing of the record he has a wee cry to himself at the end. (Then he must have got embarrased about it and it was removed). "Sally go round the roses" by Tim Buckley or Pentangle "
  22. Hog is God for all the reasons that Jaco isn't! _______________________________________________________________________________ Kitchen Cynics...........................................not being nice to divvies today......................
