  1. I watched it last night. (After recording it.). Nothing special. Usual prison documentary, all prisoners toughing it up and making out that they were wrongly imprisoned. San Quentin, pah! Craiginches.... now that's a prison. Eh Willie?
  2. I've still got a plastic Kef membership card from years ago. I don't even know what the hell it's good for. (Except to use for .... well, best not go there.)
  3. Talk to the guy in 'Merlins grove' or whatever it's called on King Street. I heard he makes the stuff. He might give you some brewing advice or something.
  4. That's the only reason I keep coming back to this God forsaken website.
  5. I agree. Musa is one of the best choices for good food. (I happen to know a certain German chef from in there who used to cook pretty good food at cafe 52 also. )
  6. La Bamba is still there, it's just moved along a couple of buildings to where the old 'Lotus' chinese restuarant was.
  7. Stereophonics - 1000 trees. That bloody song was on every time I went into the Palace. I still hate it now. It makes me want to burn 1000 trees with just one match just for fun.
  8. There's a new Steak and lobster house on Crown Terrace where the old La Bamba was. I went in before Christmas and the food was pretty good. Other favourites include Musa and La Stella. (Although my secret shame is 'China Kingdom'.) Great food, shit restuarant.
  9. I heard that the fat guy from Peep Peeps died.
  10. Hell yeah. If you like 'Metal Bars' thats the place for you.
  11. My top 5 are.... 'The Ring'. (I still think the American version is better than the Jap one.) 'Freaks' 1932 horror. Fucking Terrifying. 'Trick or Treat' Pretty good Rock themed horror. 'Near Dark'. Best vampire film ever. 'Requem for a Dream'. Not technically a horror but it'll put you off drugs for a while.
  12. Yeah, Happy New Year. .... I'm still fucking offshore (have been since Dec 18th) and will still be until 3rd Jan. I wonder if Santa's left anything under my tree.
  13. Sky News were a bit funny about reporting this story. In the morning they reported that there was a suicide attack on her but she got away safely. By the afternoon she had been shot in the neck and chest and then blown up! ....the next day the Pakistani government were saying that she was killed when she bumped her head on the sun-roof!

    Your current read?

I've finished a couple of books recently... Brother Odd by Dean Koontz. The third part of a trilogy about the guy that can see the dead. It was OK but I can't see it being made into a movie any time soon. Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince. by J.K. Rowling. I have to admit that I really enjoy the Harry Potter books and this is no exception. The ending really had me wishing that I'd brought the last book offshore with me as it left a few loose ends which the next book will no doubt fill. No doubt this will definately be made into a film (if it isn't already in production).
  15. Yes to all the above.... which makes a Christmas away all the worse. However, in the spirit of Christmas I hope we all make the most of it and enjoy the day the best we can.
  16. Personally, I'm stuck working on an oilrig where nothing much is happening except the usual daily grind followed by the odd game of dominos, pool or cribbage followed by a turkey dinner. ... and the odd can of non-alcoholic Kaliber. Beat that.
  17. Paul Daniels. A bit of a sad personal hero but he really was great to watch and even did a bit of a magic show for a couple of us in the bar. A true original magician that didn't mind spending hours practicing a magic trick that we'd just go 'Phhhh' to in a moment. And into the bargain I got to see the fabulous Debbie McGee. I also had lunch with Phil Cool.... who turned out to be a right miserable cunt.
  18. I think it's a sad world where I can't call someone a nasty name ... racist or not. Free country my fucking arse.
  19. It'd be a shame to lose such a good author. Although I've not read one of his books for over 10 years now, I was right into the Discworld series back in the day and anything that got me reading was a good thing.
  20. You've got to understand, people of a certain age.. and mental aptitude are not going to become PC overnight. They were brought up (as were my parents) with blacks being called Darkies etc. Obviously this is a bit shocking to the sensitivities of a younger generation but they should just see it as being the spoutings of an older and less (PC) knowledgable generation and just appreciate that we still have some kind of freedom of speech. Whether we agree with it or not. Calling the Police.... fuck sake. Get over it.
