  1. Re 80s thrash, I raise you... Next, pretty much the worst album ever made. Angy warrior is puppet of the titty gods now The Venom one is really nice up close. And...
  2. I still buy a hard copy Grauniad 98% of the time, a lot of non-readers have this image that it is all prim and pompous disapproval of things, that's only half, the other half is funny, wry and worldly wise. You know yer a full-time Graun reader when you actually follow the plotlines in Doonesbury. Used to get the Independent when it launched, and for a long time after it was excellent, but they lost so much content in the downsize, and it seems lacking in gravitas now. It was really good when covering the decline and fall of the Soviet empire, that was when I acquired the newsprint media habit properly, as each country started falling faster than those before.
  3. And that is why you should never call yourself your real name as a band name, unless you're called Zebadiah Rocksmith or somesuch.
  4. Went to see Triptykon on that Destroyers of the Faith tour, they were awesome, doing a 3 song set; Synagoga Satanae, Goetia, The Prolonging, even met Tom G briefly on Sauchiehall St. The black metal band were alright, bit lightweight, though the sound wasn't great further back, and Cannibal Corpse were quite fun for a while, but after 8 songs I knew nothing different would happen, so that was it. A Triptykon headline set would be rather nice though.
  5. Plough on, it's well ace, love the faux footnotage.
  6. "His head must weigh fifty pounds on its own"
  7. Hope the guy got up and melted the prick, unless they were both serial pranksters, in which case a double mortality is the best we could hope for.
  8. London Fields is mainly ace, although I never buy into the central conceit of whatsername, Keith Talent is one of the best written characters in Eng Lit. The bit where he ponders hiding under the bed, to avoid a beating that his partner might recieve instead, but he doesn't because; "There's 5 years worth of darts magazines under there" (sic), classic. Money is better though.
  9. Apparently he had done most of the last one, then had to massively rewrite as he had continuity errors within his own mythos. He must have some kind of outsourcing of all that crap now. At least there is S2 of the telly version, as previously red-plate guys now have a rich backstory. Also, Lord Frey looks like Stemroach from Ideal, and Kenny fae The Book Group as the Hound is also well ace.
  10. Geektastically, all of that Song of Ice and Fire aka Game of Thrones: The Books, all in the space of a month. More ace than anything bearing the 'F' tag ever could be, Lord of the Dirty Machiavellian Feudal Dragon Lords, yeah, I'm well late to that party, but at least that cuts down my wait for the next batch. Hurry up ye old bass etc...
  11. That must be why so many people copied that precise harmonic interval, all the time, forever, it seems like.
  12. Hmmm, this... or this None of that awful shit with the Cali/Green Day harmonies that is so prevalent, that is for certain.
  13. Could get some dudes together and do a mean version of Low Rider...
  14. It's probably so wet and uncured that they've given themselves pneumonia hogging it.
  15. Earth 'Angels...II' ace, wish it had been a double though, works better in totality, was going to go and see them in Edinburgh, but it clashes with the Triptykon gig.
  16. I am on record as saying that Repo Man is the best film ever, even if it isn't, 30, maybe 40 viewings, I know it so well, yet sometimes find a new glint, is that not a happening deal?, It forms a wholly absurd trinity of the 80s with Spinal Tap and Withnail & I. Best soundtrack ever too.
  17. Tense situations, get in 5 or 6 of them a day, don't mean shit anymore... EDIT-Repo Man quotathon, muuuust resisst.
  18. Under the Influence by Domo Genesis has the first HipHop skit I actually laughed at since ODB, sounds decent on first listen too.
  19. Deguello by ZZ Top, had a tape of it in my teens, but I never got it then, listened to it this week, vibinzz'
  20. When I can't even find a picture of my school when it was on fire on the internet, because it happened in 1986.
  21. The title of this thread is the name of a Spectrum song that did my head in once, maybe I'd like it more now.
  22. Er, Chic, 'Everybody Dance' shoodoodoo clap your hands, clap your hands EDIT-I can't believe I've lived this long and not seen the 'Shake Your Rump' vid, totally ace.
