  1. I saw that too! He was an utter gooseball. That blonde girl wasn't much better with all her angel bullcrap. That and the fact she referred to everything as orgasmic. It's a cheap show but very watchable. Holiday in june, that's what I'm working towards. Buying a new mic for my Birthday - that'll please me. Listening on my new monitors always makes me smile when I get the chance. Anticipating my next full day and night off. I don't know when it's gonna happen, but it's liable to be unbelievably good times.
  2. I'm with you on this one man! Pester Bri to put them on at Snafu.
  3. Close but no cigar for me! It is an ace looking set up. I'll have to check out the recordings at home though. You guys in Glasgow hoard all the good shit! Just jealous is all. Sam - Just about to Pm you.
  4. Don't quote me on this but I think Indian Red Lopez recorded there. It does look pretty sweet and pretty reasonably priced for what you get to use. I'd love to have a TL Audio desk! I think they look lovely. Not had a chance to use one yet but all tube preamps?!? I reckon it'll be pretty tasty sounding. City Centre, 3hr practice, 26, nice gear and space? That's a keeper. MV still get my vote up here for nice atmosphere, good gear, and well priced. But this is a different kettle of fish (looking at the pics at least). If it is the place I'm thinking of then I believe the business is owned by one of the guys from Simply Red...but again I might just be getting confused on that one. It certainly has had a lot of money poured into it from somewhere.
  5. Went to see Benjamin Button last night. Was mostly entertaining but the corn syrup is quite liberally applied and some parts were far too close to Gump Land. It was long as well. Would I see it in the cinema again? No. Would I buy it? No. Would I fall asleep in front of it on a Sunday with a hangover? Probably. Still strikes me as an unusual choice for Fincher to make this movie.
  6. My girlfriend says exactly the same thing. Really good for making you listen to new stuff you've got hold of. Nice colours too.
  7. Duly noted Scotty! Thanks for the heads up. False Cathedrals had some lovely moments.
  8. I've enjoyed what I've listened to so far. It is certainly beefier than previous efforts but it doesn't have the same spaciousness as the Low Level albums. Definitely enjoying though. I did enjoy moments on Peregrine but it was a mixed bag and I haven't gone back to it regularly I must admit.
  9. Hmmm....I'm working a gig at Snafu on Thursday but I will try and nip across post soundcheck.
  10. I'm gonna dwell on it tonight but will probably get in touch to see if we could arrange a tryout.
  11. What wasn't talked about back then? Just lazy scruff balls back in the day though. Actually enjoy doing stuff now.
  12. Glad you said this Sonhenry as I thought I'd read they were good for guitars somewhere. Must admit I'm tempted to hear this myself. Love the silverface look.
  13. Talk about a re-union! Anyone for a one note bass part? Small but essential. Who will bring the low end?
  14. This is pretty much just out of curiousity but... I love Guitar Trio by Rhys Chatham. One chord, anything up to six guitars (inlcuding a bass) and a drummer hammering out one hell of a drone piece. I'd love to do a one off performance of this with some other fine people and maybe do a wee show somewhere. Any interest? Like I said, I don't know how viable this is but I'm curious enough to see if there are any takers.
  15. I haven't seen any of the new season yet - must get on that. BSG really knocked me for six with how good it is. The only other TV show which has kept me so gripped has been The Wire but that's another kettle of fish altogether. As was said above, really in depth and tackling a lot of modern day issues (Iraq invasion and political ideologies in Season 2 was very nicely done). It's a great piece of modern Sci Fi. If you ain't into fights in space, robots dressed as humans, and a little bit of new age mysticsm, then you aren't going to enjoy this much but if you are, then be ready to see a lot of more than just that.
  16. One vote! Ha. That is pretty sweet. Cheers Bri! Sorry I couldn't make it. I was working a gig at Cellar 35 and then Snafu straight after. Long night and little booze. Hope it was a good een though! What did we win this year?
  17. I missed the two capo business! Wasn't paying enough attention to the guitarist I guess. Loved their set though. Balls tight. The last two songs were awesome. I was told the same thing about the drum sound. A little too big. Someone mentioned Phil Collins in reference to the drum sound. I have time for some Collins but wouldn't want him in there as part of the Kartta sound. Sorry Collins, not at this time. First time I'd seen Y Change Costume. Loved it. The 3rd tune with the bass tapping was frickin sweet! COTC put in a great set too. Vocals are quite sweet and the tunes are very poppy. A good bill all in all. Sound on stage was good and I really enjoyed playing on Saturday.
  18. I was also dissappointed with this movie. It got so many good reviews but I just found it very bland. Haven't btohered with the other releases. I saw Revolutionary Road last Sunday and loved it. I though Kate and Leo were great together. The dialogue was spot on and really nailed the relationship they had with each other. Leo was superb. He played the part perfectly. Friends who've read the book say this is a fantastic adaptation as well which is always rare. Talking through a few points in the movie with my girlfriend, it feels the only thing which was missing was a depth of detail with some of the supporting characters which is understandable for a film of this length. Go and see. I fear I have missed my chance to see Milk first time round. Dunno what's next on the list.
