  1. it's a distinct possibility eh? oh well, what is money if not colourfull cd tokens. *sigh*
  2. i'd say they were, a lot of their stuff is anyway.
  3. yea i have stonerrock.com already bookmarked. top site. and now have amg bookmarked, cheers phil!
  4. nope nothing extra at all. yea i just realised that as well about the double, just went and looked it out after i posted that. in fact i think i'll stick it on.
  5. we found some inextremis 7" in one up ages ago hidden behind the counter on the vinyl floor. fucking ace as well. wish i'd seen them when they were going.
  6. we can order brutal truth albums in one up. i'm pretty sure they're still available. failing that i bought sounds of the animal kingdom on ebay recently. or you could check out the earache website as well. there's a double live album of their farewell shows as well available on relapse records. check out their website as well for that and other grind delights.
  7. check out confederacy of ruined lives by eyehategod and take as needed for pain. dopesick is meant to be pretty good too but i ain't got that one so can't comment. confederacy rules though.
  8. ah right, been meaning to check out the obsessed for a wee while as well. cathedral rule. dan you really should come to valhella some time, i think it'll be right up your street. *plug mode* and that goes for everyone posting in this thread! aberdeen's only stoner and sludge night, every 2nd and 4th saturday of the month in dr drakes and it's free entry! 11-3am. follow the smoke toward the riff filled land. *exit plug mode* sorry bout that
  9. need to control is an awesome album. not sure it's death metal though. more a mental mixture of sludge and grind. but definitely check brutal truth out anyway!!
  10. who are st vitus and son of otis phil? any cop?
  11. kyuss electric wizard eyehategod clutch macrocosmica oh baby yea!! not heard any high on fire albums but they suck bad on the contaminated dvd. too much soloing. though apparently their albums are pretty good. obviously i should pick sabbath as well, but let's take that as a given. also check out pelican for instrumental stoner rock! iron monkey for aggro-stoner-sludgecore and fudge tunnel for a great version of sunshine of your love. come to valhella. that is all. :-D
  12. suffocation have a new album out, meant to be pretty good.
  13. i think the reviewer could've at least gotten the name right but on the plus side they got your name wrong! pretend it's a different band and you're laughing. also i don't really see how SEA are doing something different(says the guy from the band straight out of eighties manchester). you sound like tool. a lot like tool. of course you do it well. but i can see how someone might not get it if they don't listen to music like that.
  14. millenium child is mc of tha flava fame. he's launching his first single in one up soon but i forget the date. there's posters all over the shop for it. tha flava is one of the most successful hip hop/r and b nights in scotland apparently. though it was mc that told me this and he is a shameless self publicist. they run tha flava in edinburgh as well as aberdeen and did an aftershow party for the mtv europe awards.
  15. when i used to run sonic deth monkey the only one that attracted a large amount of people who i didn't know, apart from the microphones gig, was the improv special. some of them came up and spoke to me afterwards and said they'd been in aberdeen for a few months and that was the first decent music they'd seen since they arrived. so i think there are people out there who enjoy seeing people improvise, i've certainly always had positive response after gigs. obviously when i say large amount that's relative to the sonic deth monkey attendance. so that was about 5 people i didn't know.
  16. aye biz only, come in and ask us very very nicely in one up and we might let you read ours for a minute. alternatively aberdeen college library gets it as does the central library i'd imagine. hmv used to sell it but it costs an absolute fortune per issue so no one bought it. we are playing on the 9th in kef at about 7.45pm. and it'll be a blast. no idea who else is playing that night.
  17. i love improvised music. particularly when it's people who aren't exceptional musicians cause i think it's more fun. first gig i ever did was the mystery lounge in drakes when dedalus improvised over a film we'd made. terrifying but huge fun. i find doing gigs with improv bands has helped me overcome stage fright a lot. cause if you can go onstage and perform unplanned for 40 minutes then a rehearsed set shouldn't pose to many problems. and it teaches you to overcome little problems like string breakages during songs.

    Geneva

didn't they move to london once they got interest?
  19. man, seph's the coolest. i hope he ends up with anna though and not summer. i am addicted to that damn program.
  20. hey is that seph from the oc on your avatar?
  21. my favourite jeff buckley song is last goodbye. that death cab for cutie song is awesome though.
  22. i really like that song by 411. with ghostface killah on it. great pop song.
  23. hope sandoval is hot, isn't she married to one of the reid brothers or something?
  24. franz ferdinand aren't on a major though. they're on domino. one of the finest record labels in all the land. nothing to do with a major label. and they weren't signed for their image either. so don't think they'll have any problems at all. also you don't have to be truly unique or exceptional to stay on a major label. that's utter bullshit. all you have to do to stay on a major label is sell units. that's all it comes down to. money money money money money money money. major labels are pure unadultareted evil. suckers of satan's scaley pecker. you sign with a major label you will be in debt to them your whole life and they will fuck you around. unless you're one of the handful of bands that actually manages to sell millions of records. the only way to go is with a good independent label or do it yourself. that's my view anyway.
