  1. as far as i know vomitus are still in action, should be playing a gig soon.
  2. first track off slow riot for a new zero kanada by godspeed you black emperor. or east hastings by godspeed you black emperor. celestial by isis cleanse by neurosis is fairly intense but a bit too much drums on it i think. but i think without a doubt the greatest track over ten minutes long has to be: SLEEP - DOPESMOKER over an hour long, the finest piece of sludge ever recorded. fucking ace. like a huge woolly mammoth trudging through hemp covered jungle while the sky explodes above it. hot slow and off into space. oh yea.
  3. hehe, yea that's the name. the second hand stock varies considerably depending how skint students are. so if you check it a few weeks before the student loans come in it's more likely to have better stock. the cavern has a very good range of t-shirts for the more discerning record buying public, whereas we stock t-shirts that sell well. it'd be great if we could stock more specialist shirts but we need demand for them first. hopefully the lower floor will be less tinky once it reopens, though not sure how long that will last. it'll probably seem a bit brighter though, given that the floor won't be grey anymore.
  4. it does depend on the t-shirt mind, so don't expect us to magic up any t-shirt you want but you won't know till you ask. i'm pretty sure we can get kraftwerk t-shirts and stuff like that, used to stock them before.
  5. hehe, is that in a similar way to how channel 4 news gets more like the day today every day? i swear chris morris is controlling john snow.
  6. umm, sorry guys don't get too excited. it's closed for reflooring and that's pretty much all. we'll move things around a bit but at present no major changes to the stock down there. incidentally t-shirts can be ordered from us as well, so if you're after a smaller size or a particular band just ask the gentlement behind the counter politely and they'll see if they can order them for you.
  7. you should check out the cylob track called rewind. you can get it on a rephlex sampler called the braindance coincidence. fucking brilliant. has a hawking soundalike rapping over the top of a bonkers electrohop kinda beat.
  8. i just meant it wasn't bad in that it was the p and j doing a decent sized article about local music. i don't expect the p and j to get anything right or to write about music in a proper adult manner.
  9. why's this a battle of the bands? is there some kind of prize?
  10. yea i read that just now. not a bad article wish they'd do more like that though. not just on tom but on everyone doing something in aberdeen.
  11. mother and the addicts were ace!!! totally better than franz ferdinand. they were straight out of the no wave school of funk-indie. they were the sound that franz ferdinand wish they had. sluts of trust were awesome though. truly magnificent and they were super nice people too. strobing goat played for a very long time. nae bad, but far too long a set i think. if it had finsihed at half an hour i would've liked them more.
  12. escape from the prison planet on clutch is one of my favourite rock songs of all time. pure fucking stoner opera. incidentally seeing as someone mentioned electric wizard, new album out on 14th of june and it's gonna fucking rule. there's a track free with terrorizer this month and it's just ridiculously heavy and doomy. and it gets damned slow near the end as well.
  13. you should check out gonga, they're an excellent new stoner band from bristol who have riffs and songs to match kyuss.
  14. there's nothing wrong with some light heckling so long as it's funny. when it's just "yer shite" "you suck" then it's kinda shitty. unless "you suck" is said in some kind of comedy surf dude accent. that might make it amusing.
  15. heh, i've got a similar story involving someone else who has been posting on this thread from when napalm death last played in aberdeen. we were standing watching the support band when said person became aware of a farty smell in our area. keen to discover the source of this he started sniffing people around him including a dishevelled fellow in front of us with long hair. he went right up behind him and gave him a right good sniff before declaring that the guy smelt of farts, this proclamation was greeted with much hilarity until napalm death took the stage and i pointed out that the guy who smelt of farts was in fact barney. anyone want to own up to that one? *glares in the direction of le peep*
  16. is that the same bill who's in xs relocat? who at a king liar and the brutes show shouted "show us how tough you really are and punch bontempi boy in the face"?
  17. i'm glad you changed your avatar from the family guy one, there was something slightly hypnotic about it.
  18. they ended up working together after mackaye produced some stuff for jorgenson, and al suggested he record a vocal for one of the tracks. i think it was called i will refuse or something. then they decided to do a bunch more cause the first one was good. ian mackaye from what i know has been of the opinion in his more recent years that straight edge is a personal choice and hasnt' been preaching about it so much so i guess he figured whatever jorgenson wants to take is his own business. or something.
  19. probably inertiatic but i haven't heard mars volta in moshulu so couldn't say. inertiatic would be the obvious one to play i guess.
  20. has anyone heard the stuff al jorgenson did with ian mackaye?
  21. no contest, mars volta. they're more exciting and take more risks. sparta are great but aren't doing anything exciting or new. it's just jim ward carrying on where he left off with at the drive-in, he's not moved on in anyway.
  22. thankfully i don't have a credit card, frankly if i did i'd be fucked. it would open up a whole other country across the atlantic to buy things from.
  23. see i like the noise side of things, it's the stuff like ministry et all i can't get into. the stuff that seems to be popularly classed as industrial. stuff like this heat and hula i can get into and are well worth checking out for noisier soundscape style industrial music. but it's wierd i never really class that stuff as industrial but apparently other folks do, it doesn't really sound anything like godflesh or NIN.
  24. hmm, i never thought scorn were industrial. maybe it's just the album i have that isn't very industrial sounding. thought they were more sludge/doom. heh, just noticed the album i have is called evanescence. i've never gotten into industrial music, it always seemed too rigid for me. dunno why. i have a couple of godflesh albums but i couldn't get into them.
