  1. Guilty as charged:up:
  2. I was under the impression that it was The Magnificents who were supporting. But this is not the case for The Usher Hall...
  3. All in all I thought the show was fantastic. When whatever it was that was thrown connected with his foreheadI really thought that he was going to storm off in a Brian Clough. But, give the man his due he carried on. On The Streets I Ran and Far Off Places was the best from the new stuff. Still Ill was sublime
  4. I'm taken aback that Reader Meet Author was performed. Southpaw Grammar is one of my all time favourites. Saturday is just around the corner, patience is a virtue
  5. In a James Earl Jones voice: "Impressive. Most impressive."
  6. I am in awe of this album. To me he just goes from strength to strength - OK, that 7 year gap without a release notwithstanding. UK support comes from Sons & Daughters and Tiger Army. Only 17 days to go for the Music Hall gig - 12.5 working days and counting! I just want to see the boy happy (track 11)
  7. My only reaction to this is: What a pompous twat!
  8. Skelf - splinter Getting the scud - to get the belt or strap Scuddy - A bag or satchel Yokie - itchy
  9. I used to work as a Payroll Officer at the NHS and what has happened to you is perfectly legal (I'm sorry to say). All overpayments are reclaimed from the employee's net pay. The employer's and employee's contributions to PAYE and NIC are not taken into consideration in this kind of circumsatnce. I recommend you speak to your wages department and see if this overpaymnet can be repaid over regular instalments agreeable to you both. The vast majority of employers should be able to do this unless their payroll duties are outsourced to the likes of an accounting firm or payroll service. Let me know what your tax code is as well. All being well you should be NT but only if you are working during college/university holidays. If you are working during term time and thtroughout the year your tax code will be the generic 489L (the L denoting cumulative). This means that each week for the tax year (52.14 weeks) you will not contribute any tax or National Insurance for the first £94.52 (estimated) you earn on a weekly basis. I hope this helps Steve
  10. Forgot to add: Can't wait until April 22nd. 7 weeks on Saturday and counting... ...maybe I should get out more
  11. I saw the video exclusive on Channel 4 last Thursday. Dig that pastel pink suit and the cuban heels! I have to agree with you, Del. The Moz Father could quite easily fart in a paper bag and it would be genius. Christ! He could gargle on a fruit and veg smoothie too and in my opinion it would be the best thing since the invention of quorn. (I am a meat eater by the way. OK, a herbivore for all you pedants out there).
  12. L nought Cold Granite on hardback last year and thoroughly enjoyed it, local setting not withsatnding. Stripey, chill man! What's your beef with things that don't adhere to your high-brow intellectualised regard? Read, listen and watch before passing judgement. I've learned to do that. After reading Cold Granite and giving Rankin's Black and Blue a dusting down and a further read for the umpteenth time, it made me boot up the laptop to retrieve the manuscript I've been working on for quite some time and get back in to the story I one day hope will get finished and (hopefully) published. For you lovers of crime fiction let me recommend Caleb Carr's The Alienist and the follow up Angel of Darkness. I also recommend A J Holt's Watch me. I dislike the term unputdownable but these three were the epitome of it.
  13. I haven't seen the since the Lemon Tree gig back in '98 so twice in one year means a helluva lot for me. Just over a week to go and it's the release of Mr. Beast... Bring it on
  14. Yes! I've got my ticket for the 27 April Usher Hall gig in Edinburgh AND... 22 September Royal Albert Hall gig in, obviously, London Fuckin' A!
  15. I got my ticket for the Musica Hall earlier this morning (well my mum did, bless). Only 12 weeks tomorrow and it's The National Front Disco
  16. Back in the days of Cerement I had a loan of a Hieronymus Bosch book and was inspired to base the lyrics to a couple of songs on his sketches of The Entombment and Death of A Reprobate. Quality. The sketches, not the lyrics...
  17. Has any one seen this on DVD? I bought it last week but only got round to watching it two nights ago. There is some awesome, nostalgic footage on it and a whole heap of talking heads. The guy who owns New York's CBGBs is also interviewed. It's a bit pricey at 22.00 but well worth every penny.
  18. Dirty History! Wash your hands. And then there's MRSA because in this day and age people still find it a chore to be moderatley hygeinic. OK not nearly as nasty as the alleged severity of bird-flu, but it makes you think twice about going to hospital for even the most briefest of appointments, let alone major surgery.
  19. I think it's getting blown out of proportion just like the SARS 'epidemic' 18 months - 2 years ago. they're definitely scaremongering. Fucking Nanny State yet again.
  20. The Melvins are pre dead brilliant. Check out the most recent album featuring Jello Biafra.
  21. My all time favourite split. Good call! Harking back to my death metal days Pungent Stench/Disharmonic Orchestra split 12" And Stanford Prison Experiment/Quicksand Split 7"
