And therein may lie the problem...

I was thinking about this earlier, and the inevitable opinions that would spring up that "Americans are idiots", yadayadayada ad infinitum, and then something struck me...We live in a country that between 1979 and 1997 voted in *FOUR* successive Tory government, THREE OF THEM WITH THATCHER AT THE HELM! And yet we criticise others. The strange thing about the Democrats campaign (and yes, I know they voted against him in the primaries) is that John Edwards was clearly a much better candidate than John Kerry. Inexperienced maybe, but witness the speeches tonight by Kerry and Edwards, like it or not Edwards is charismatic, exudes personality, is a skilled orator...basically everything that would have won the Democrats the election the way they fought their campaign (i.e. without too much regard for actual policies). I would put money on him being the President come 2008. All in all, not a great day for the world, but I don't think we're all doomed as a result.

Out of that list, I managed to pull out 3 that I actually consider to be any good and one that I didn't mind. Great... Primal Scream Boards of Canada Good... Idlewild Passable... The Beta Band Always found it weird that Scotland doesn't really produce that many great bands, and the calibre of some of the ones in that list says everything.

Many people think that Robbie Williams makes the greatest ever music. I know for a fact that this is not true. And the similarity between Robbie Williams and Star Wars? They're both shit.

Not been the best of weeks for me either. Last Sunday managed to go arse over tit on my way *to* the pub and have a huge and very painful bruise on my right thigh. Tuesday night/Wednesday morning, some utter fucking bastard student on some wanky fucking freshers week night out decided it would be hilarious to rip the wing mirror off my brand fucking new car, along with those of every other car on the street. 150 excess and 2 years of my no claims gone for nothing (thanks to them managing to scratch the paintwork and pull the window surround out of shape). Thursday my new mobile arrived only for me to discover that it doesn't work properly (this after returning a working one of same to o2, who are utter lying bastards and thus no longer have my contract) and so will have to go back and get replaced. Last night got stupidly drunk and very maudlin. Sent text to someone very important to me, have no idea what it said as I can't see my Sent Items thanks to non-working phone, but am concerned I may have made a complete dick of myself. Still, next week can probably only be better.

We've got someone coming round to look at the flat at the start of next week, so it's dependent on whether we like them or not. The room's probably available from the 1st of July, so obviously the quicker we can get someone in, the better.
