  2. Bit harsh? You can hate the band by all means, but you can't deny they were influential. And do you know enough about him himself to hate him so much? Cobain had a lot of problems, with a family history of alcoholism and sucides, parents divorce, sleeping rough etc. Massive sudden fame is hard enough to deal with without having so many problems to start with. I don't want to start the old 'all addicts are losers with no excuse' debate, but do you feel this way about anyone who takes drugs? Or anyone who commits suicide? Or just him because of his songs? Surely there's a lot worse people out there to reserve your hatred for than some guy whose music you didn't like? And if you believe his suicide note, one of the reasons he killed himself was not because he didn't care for his daughter, just the opposite. He said he couldn't stand to think of his daughter becoming "the miserable self-destructive, death rocker that I've become." There is also the thought that maybe he didn't kill himself. At time of death, he had a massive amount of heroin in his system. If he took such a huge overdose, how was he then able to pick up the gun and shoot himself? There's a lot Courtney's not telling. btw she would like Ewan McGregor to play Kurt, apparently...
  3. I was lurking around the moorings last night, that is one ugly guitar...
  4. Than what? That was just a live recording of a practice. Wait til you hear the new stuff we've almost finished. It's really rather impressive, I reckon...
  5. Dunno, but I reckon they'll go down pretty well... 3/10

  8. It's a photo finish, but it's Delboy by a nose...
  9. But maybe radio stations aren't playing it because they don't have a very broad appeal. They've done well to sell so many, but they've been bought by a very narrow niche market, i.e. long term fans who have been urged to buy three copies each. Would they appeal to anyone outside of this group? If they would, then why haven't they? Should radio stations be playlisting them because they're in the charts, or because they think a lot of their listeners would be interested? Shouldn't the charts be an indication of the number of people who have heard a record, liked it, and bought it, rather than how loyal their existing fanbase is? Shouldn't bands be trying to reach people who don't already love them, rather than pushing the ones who to effectively cheat the charts? The question is really 'why aren't they getting playlisted?'...
  10. Yay! We've got one! Thanks Mr Cynic, I always forget the 'elan' bit, dammit. A horse falling down stairs with elan...
  11. Great teacosy too. Right, well, go here for more details - http://www.lofimusic.co.uk/mefm Can only say that the other artistes are fantastic, and as for my lot, we are a kind of thoughtful metal, with two female vocals, rocking guitars, and drums that sound like a horse falling down stairs. Blondie meets Led Zeppelin meets Janes Addiction. That's not a great description admittedly, but all I can think of really, except to give you this teaser recorded live at our last practice very small clip... We promise to entertain, and it is for a very good cause. And I'll buy you a pint...
  12. For some reason, I feel all your posts should start with "1, 2, 3, 4!!!"...
  13. Zigmeister was on fine form, really nice set and no trouble from the fucktards, strangely, apart from one guy yelling 'shite' once but it wasn't a problem, might have been jokey. Lone Pigeon made him apologise for it after though. He started off with his buttonbox thingy, and also later featured his autoharp. All lovely, and made all the better with the addition of Big Jim on stripped down drums. (the drums were stripped down, not Jim, obv.)
  14. Sorry 'bout that, I came in at the wrong time, really. yes, I am a drummer.
  15. The crowd was undoubtedly the worst I've ever seen in Drakes. Not size wise, it was packed, but just weird. Speaking to Alan Cynic, he said last Sunday's crowd were brilliant, really attentive and listening to the songs. I couldn't help wondering how different last night would have been if we'd had that, instead of women wandering up to the stage braying "play that one, y'know, the one that goes, um, here I'll sing it in your ear..." etc. There was that one huge group in the middle of the floor who obviously had never been near Drakes before. No concept of what an intimate gig should be, they just wouldn't stop shouting stuff at him - they were obviously fans, as they were shouting out song titles at him, but it was so obviously throwing him right off. And as soon as he started a song they'd asked for, they'd start yapping away to themselves, which would just put him right off. I did feel sorry for him as he was clearly extremely nervous, but couldn't help feeling he should really have been able to play his own songs no matter what. Even with songs from his new album which he was promoting, he was asking the crowd how the melody went etc. That coupled with the adoring but idiotic crowd made it very hard to watch. There were definitely flashes of brilliance in there though.
  16. It certainly is not. Do NOT get me started on the oxygen thief that is Lloyd Wanker... *breathes* time for a wee medicinal one, I think... *pop* you going to Lone Pigeon tonight by any chance, ghostie?
  17. True. They stick you in a listening room with the collected works of Andrew Lloyd Webber for two hours, and you've got it...
  18. If we're being honest, I'm sure neither myself or Ian could actually give a flying fuck at a rolling donut about it, we're just indulging in our favourite pastime of 'Google Duelling'... :dunce:
  19. Well now, flicking through my back issues of "International Union of Pure and Applied Physics" Monthly Newsletter, I see that there is still some fierce debate, and indeed confusion regarding elements after 106, though this does indeed appear to be more centred round their nomenclature. 118 however has definitely been discounted after a researcher was sacked for altering data to provide a false result. As I'm sure you're aware this is a very tricky area, due to the extremely volatile nature of these nuclides, and things can get somewhat ambivalent. Either that or I was wearing me 'lookers' and not me 'readers'... Anyhoo, enough of this frippery, and on to slightly more cerebral matters. I was once in a band called 'Screaming for Pussy'.
  20. I was ever so gently taking the piss... You obviously weren't at Open Mic on Tuesday when Mr Zig announced this gig between every single song... Sorry. But I should be there tonight though. Feel free to give me a slap.
  21. Sounds cool. Can't believe Ziggy never mentioned this on Tuesday...
