Dave
  5. Producers can have great effects in certain genres - think EL-P in HH or Lee Perry / King Tubby in Dub. Sometimes they can make things too smooth or miss too much out etc, Dave
  6. Well the compilation is done. Mostly Brazilian tracks but the odd Cuban / unknown Latin American one etc... 7. oh and Part Chimp will have a live set on Peel as well - Next week they are playing stuff from some Tigerbeat 6 artists. Yep Trans Am are playing Drummonds... Dave
  8. Peelie also has some Mogwai, Envy, Cat Power live set coming up as well this week, amongst other...
  9. The Breezeblock has some live ATP tracks from Mogwai and Trans Am. Mary also have Adem and Beans in session. Does it get much better ? Dave Breezeblock tracklisting
  10. Four Tet played Adeen last year - not that many folk turned out though. He is a nice guy as I stood on his toes twice while we were watching James Yorkson and he never complained...
  11. Sad news about the split up ! Good luck with your future projects BTW Ben you were right - the Terry Riley and other reissue Lps are decent quality - one is minimalism(ish), the other is more free flutey jazz orientated. Not suitable for one's granparents though.... Dave
  12. I think I would prefer to see of the many Tortoise offshoots rather than the band themselves. Unless they were playing Djed and their earlier dubbier stuff or an improv set with The Ex or whatever... The ATP 1.0 compilation is one of the best around and contains many of the acts that Ben mentions. Dave
  13. So you are supplying drugs to keep us awake then ?
  14. Well I wont make it down to ATP but we do have the eclectic Trip Tych. TT seems slightly broader minded than ATP as well...
  15. Aye the Tortoise interview on last weeks Mixing It had an interview about the new album. I think its out in 5 or 6 weeks time. Dave
  16. And to think I saw Sky Saxon last night and thought he was a tramp, then thot that Rick Rubin had come to town before being told that it was SS. Makes you feel a little stupid....
  17. Aye very entertaining gig - I was very impressed with Thomas T. TT was a great visual act and really funny and talented. Not sure if I would buy his CDs though. This was my first exposure to the Kitchen Cynics as well. One talented man and his guitar sounds boring but was excellent fun. Canna beat an Ivor Cutler number.... I couldnt really get into the headline act after enjoying the previous acts so much. Damn good night, cheap and with a great audience as well, Dave
  18. Aye twas mentioned in Wire this month...
  19. So is Spunk Jazz worth a purchase ? Someone said it was great but a bit mad.. Dave
  20. I see that Opaque are playing Drakes next month. Sounds interesting ! Maybe I should buy some earplugs ?? Dave
  21. Well I am currently wanting to sell my 3 Sepultura albums and a 12 " of theirs - I thot about including them but they dont go to well with Samba, Funky Jazz, Brazilian D n B and cheese....
  22. Aye the whole Eask Neuk of Fife is nice for walking, drinking etc. Just watch out for anything south of Methil.
  23. Will we get fed in between bands ? - 12 acts in 7 hours or so sounds like a rather nice marathon. Maybe Chill will make some chilli....
  24. If you were putting together a Brazilian music compilation who would go on it ?
  25. Damn wish I had known about that - I walked along the cliffs to Anstruther last summer from Leven. Lovely little place ! Good seafood and chips as well.
