  4. Sons of Arqa - imagine Prince Far I remixing Portishead and Massive Attack and you are partly there... If SOA want to play Adeen you may as well get African Head Charge and the Ghetto Priest up as well, Dave
  5. MESmith and his band were on exc form - its great how they manage to put a new spin on old songs such as Hip Priest and The Joke. The new material works well live. I liked the amount of rockabilly and krautrock that are much more obvious live than on CD. Now, when are we getting MES back to do a spoken word show with some poets and spoken word performers... Dave
  6. That reminds me that I should buy that Prince Far I / Sons of Arca live album as it was supposedly the last PFI recording.... Dave
  7. Are Selfish ***t still on the bill for The Fall tonight ? Should be an interesting night no matter what happens. I wonder if Josephine will be in attendance taking notes.... Dave
  8. Constellation and Kranky - great post - rock Trojan, Blood & Fire, Wackies and Pressure Sounds - best reggae labels Warp, Rephlex & Tigerbeat 6 - some of the best in electronica But apart from that Matador is one of the best all round labels - great selection of decent music...
  9. Will the Damo S night not feaure two bassists ?
  10. Well I have never tipped bar staff in my life although I'm always very nice to them. But if we had been sitting down to food we would have tipped the waiting staff a few squid per head. Aye I agree that 3 squids in total is worse than nothing - it would only have bought a pint of that cobra beer...
  11. we even had a "celebrity" in the crowd too Jesus I didnt know that Robin Galloway was into Sonic Youth style noise.....
  12. Wire, Can and that German punk DJ bloke and Pan Sonic all on the same bill - excellent ! The Tigerbeat 6 showcase sounds like fun as well. Not forgetting a cool film at the LTree as well Dave PS that will be an expensive weekend for anyone with a broad mind.....
  13. Triptych 2004 We dont have the cream of the crop but it certainly looks interesting... Mum, Exp in the Sky, Peel, Four Tet and Jerry Dammers are only playing the central belt however... Dave
  14. Did Tortoise not have two bass players at one point ? Nomeansno for you interest had two drummer live at one point...

  16. Damn I was thinking that HR from Bad Brains was on Radio 1....
  17. I remember seeing Teenage Fanclub, a few others and The Levellers at Bonkers - I seem to recall Faith No More playing there as well and my mate Sol having to use Deep Heat for days afterwords... What about Ceasars Palace and the place on Hadden Street that had Acid Reign playing ? I'm too young to remember The Venue though:angel: Dave
  18. I was right in front of him - was a bit worried that he might hold up a lighter or something - stared at the monkey but it did no good...
  19. Try some early Wire, Joy Division and maybe even some Mission of Burma...
  20. Nomeansno - "Live and Cuddly" - this was my first introduction to NMN and and was bought by mistake after getting them mixed up with Silver Apples and Alice Donut.... Damn good for a live hardcore band - very entertaining, especially the Polish Radio intro, Dave Review of Live & Cuddly
  21. I enjoyed the EITS gig apart from... 1) One guy who started clapping above his head. 2) Another guy wearing headphones barfed in the middle of the floor very close to me and a couple of mates. Well done twat ! Dave
  22. Are the band Jawbone related to Doorag or The Motards ?
  23. Aye you can get a Bush turntable which might sound okay but what is the build quality like ? Once you hear a more expensive TT its unlikely you would be happy with the 50 squid model... If you're on a tight budget buy second hand, Dave
