  1. Two Wire sets - Colin ( aka Unknown Pleasures) will be rather excited ! And so I am... Dave
  2. Obviously you must burn your slippers, then listen to the album Mr Duncan....
  3. If you like Opaque, post rock improv etc then give this album by Alvin Lucier a shot... http://allmusic.com/cg/amg.dll?p=amg&uid=UIDMISS70402050837051228&sql=Ab9508qbnbt04 I think its great but perhaps Radio 2 listeners, people with slippers and Grannies should avoid it, Dave
  4. Its strange cos I was told over a year ago that an album was forthcoming...
  5. Well I have some of their demos from 1989 and a live set from 1988 already and its a bit rough.... The Frankfurt live CD set I own from 1992 is better quality though. Dave 1 2 3 4 repeater....
  6. I go to quite a lot of gigs. At gigs I accept that sometimes I will have drink spilled on me by someone, get my feet stood on, get pushed out the way by someone and occassionally get dodgy ears for a day or so. Smoking however causes lots of little problems - like getting little burns in your clothing. When a few people smoke in an audience and there is ventilation tis not too bad. Nae much ventilation and more than a handful of smokers can make your eyes hurt quite badly, your clothes stink. Long term the effects are not good for the staff, band or punters. Why not have smoke free areas in venues ? It works in restuarants, the Music Hall, The Ltree have used this as well, pubs etc etc, This is not about being PC / anti smoker - just a gig goers right to have relatively fresh air to breathe. Dave
  7. Further to my early answer - the first three Wire Lps and first couple of Pere Ubu ones
  8. Loads of great 70s albums made by Can, Kraftwerk and one or two by Neu. Oh and a new genre became popular, reggae / roots / dub or whatever you want to call it...
  9. Why not try some Kluster - 70s industrial krautrock that can strip paint and change the mood of entire towns....
  10. Couldnt make the gig which was a bugger - as I had a bug all weekend. How were BFBS and Mr Cynic ? Dave
  11. Well he is a Spacemen 3 / Spzd obsessive, so maybe that affects his concept of distance and time.....
  12. Aye this person had not been to Drakes for well over 10 years and still thought it was located @ the Castlegate...
  13. Re: Re: Re: Lets Talk About Booze.... Aye cool bottle, but to be honest it tastes like herby cough mixture. Norwegians and Germans are big on it. So its the Contenintal version of Crabbies in a nice bottle. Dave
  14. Yep there are a load of Fall observations in the gig that only the anoraks will get....... From MES appearing with a granny onwards ! Dave
  15. I mentioned this gig to a mate. He got very excited and became less cynical about the local music scene. He is getting some mates up from Glasgow for the gig as well... Dave
  16. The Rough Guide to Bluegrass should be worth a listen... R Guide to Bluegrass
  17. You've just reminded me of Johnny Ball and his maths for kids programmes. They were fun...
  18. Art Punk = a band called Wire (who do loads of tracks originally done by Elastica, Blur et al)
  19. Well I never brought earplugs or flowers... But I had an enjoyable night of sonic booms, post and krautrock. I liked the masked faces on stage. Very art punk meets cowboy. However its not as if we didnt recognise them in the audience. Nice to see Opaque mildly moshing in unison to Sidca as well, Dave
  20. new Boards of Canada and Faust / Dalek albums are due soon...
